This could be applied to any reading material, I suppose, but I'll drop it here anyway.

Do you read your manga online with a device, or in physical copies? Do you prefer to listen to something as well, or total silence? Do you need to be in a certain place or position? Like lying down in bed or sitting in your favorite chair? With or without a drink or snack?

I barely read manga, purely because I enjoy anime much more for a number of reasons, but when I do read some chapters it's nine times out of ten on my phone, with some music playing in my headphones while on a boring commute.

Reading it through tablet in total silence is what I do these days

but before

I read them online in Aggregator sites like mangafox, mangahere, kissmanga and my favorite place to search, mangatown.

then

I download them through the computer application (and I forgot the name) due to slow internet, so reading a manga is a hell of a pain but still enjoyable.

I view my downloaded manga through picture application in the computer, and I view it by zooming while playing a music to make it feel a bit like an anime, so it takes a lot of time just to finish what I'm reading, it took me at least a lot of hours and few days for me to finish some manga.

then I'm back to online reading after the application collapses due to low support(and it's illegal)

I read in Kissmanga since most comments in that place are gold, while I search in Mangaupdates and Mangatown.

i don't use mobile devices till I discovered how easy it is to use them than computer, so I decided to use manga app in my tablet which is mangazone, it is good and clean before, but now, it sucks.

I read manga on my smartphone using a app called mangaa reader. Most of the time i read while comfortably sitting on my sofa with no music or anything playing in background but even if is theres music i dont mind, i sometimes also read while walking.walking in home, not outside. Walking outdoors while looking your phone is dangerous
Be safe ;)

I read most of the mangas on my phone, but I have certain series (like Vagabond) that I will only read the physical copies of. It can pretty much be anywhere at any time when I read manga on my phone, but I like to read the physical books in complete silence while sitting on a fatboy.

Don't really read manga much, and when I do it is usually on a phone/tablet and can be anywhere as long as I don't get distracted (and I easily get distracted and find anime more interesting is why I don't read manga much)

When i read manga it's when i'm lying in my bed, the room dark,
with this kind of music:

The device doesen't really matter that much to me, it's usually my laptop tho.

digital when going out.

most people here will say digital only for obvious reasons.

You can buy lossless digital music from your favorite Japanese artists on https://ototoy.jp/.
The songs are all DRM-free and you can re-download your purchased albums as you wish.
Show your support to your favorite artist if you can!
ps. if you are looking for Japanese albums, you have to search it in Japanese (not romaji). Just copy and paste the name.

Would prefer a physical copy since it's easier to read but I usually read from digital copies on my laptop because manga isn't sold here. I don't listen to music or do anything else while reading manga. Most importantly, I like to read my manga raw, I hate reading from fan-translations, I'd rather not read it at all than be at the mercy of some fan-translator.

there's always an option of importing - pretty much a must for non-mainstream manga and novels.
if i may suggest, there's a legit app called Book Live, which gives you several raw manga volumes for free, and you can purchase additional mangas with in-app currency (obtained by paying, logging in every day, and watching ads - in theory you can buy a volume simply by watching ads for a day or two).

I've done that with what used to be my favorite manga and LN but the shipping cost really adds up.

And thanks for the info, so far I was only aware of ComicWalker and Pixiv comics but they don't keep chapters for too long ^_^ Tried to search for it but couldn't find any manga app by that name. Where can I get it?

How I always do:

Read Online
With a device (my laptop)
Always either in the recliner or in my bed
Complete and total silence
usually just a glass of water, no food

I have to completely immerse myself with zero distractions or background interference, but maybe I'm weird.

I like to read my manga at night so my family doesn't interrupt me. I don't know if it's because I like the feel of a book in my hand, the old-fashioned-ness of it, or the lack of hassle with finding it online/having a device to read it on. I also like to binge through all the books as quickly as possible lol, this seems to be an issue since I usually can't afford that many at once.

I typically read manga on my phone, mostly in bed and late at night. When I'm reading a series that has a lot of words in each panel, I'll read in silence so I can concentrate. Otherwise I listen to music while reading.

I've actually enjoy the practice of buying manga lately. Reading it physically just brings some kind of pleasure I didn't know I needed. Obviously I can't always do this so yes I will read shit online because accessibility and money.

Also I love silence. I want to make sure I absorb the whole story and I can do that with other noise around me but I don't want to be distracted.

During the day I mostly read on my computer and at night I read on either my tablet or phone while in bed. I prefer reading digitally since it's more accessible and there's no cost, although I've barely read any physical copies to compare my digital reading experience with. The only physical copies I own are Aria, Planetes, and Kaijuu no Kodomo, and so far reading physically has been nice so I'll probably do it more in the future.

I usually listen to ambient mixes on low volume which doesn't distract me, and sometimes I'll read in pure silence. A couple albums I listen to while reading as an example:

I read anything, books and mangas, in my bed at night with earplugs in my ears (quite logically) so that I can be totally immersed into the story and not be disturbed by anything around me.

I can't stand reading on a computer, tablet or phone, so always physical copies. I just like having a book in my hands. That makes me always late compared to original publishing and at a high risk of encountering spoilers, but I'll never accept to read a manga (or book) that is published in my country online, so, yeah.

I like my manga in a softcopy version (an after effect of reading novels through a phone since I was 13). I don't really read a lot at home, but I read before I go to sleep or during school.
I don't listen to music, I find it distracting, but I listen to music when I work with a pen and paper.
For other stuff, I guess I find reading with my hand upright while sitting on a chair comfortable. Otherwise, I'd be lying on my side and reading.

That said, my reading habits come of mostly from my days of reading novels, so they're pretty similar. But I tend to find physical copies of manga more interesting to read compared to physical copies of novels.

(not light novels)

It honestly depends on the series for me.

If I really like or love a manga I will either read the whole thing online and then buy physical volumes after I'm done, read about 10-20 chapters online then start buying the volumes and read them through the books, and on rare occasions I will only read the manga through the physical volumes as I buy them even if it takes me a long time to find them all.

If a series is on-going and the physical volumes are far behind the online version, I'll most likely read online and buy the volumes as they release, but if a series is older or finished or I'm not as heavily into it I'll just read as I buy them (if I like it enough) or casually read it online here and there.

Also I like listening to music when I read manga. Preferably something instrumental or in a language I don't understand so I don't get distracted lol

But I also read manga online on my phone or computer. I also uuuusally either take my time with a manga or binge 100+ chapters in a very short amount of time.

I started reading Naruto before I even knew what manga was, and Naruto started me on my manga collection hobby.
I hold more pride for the manga I own on my bookshelf than the amount of anime I've watched.

Usually, I'll read some random manga online and if I end up liking it enough I'll buy the physical copy, but sometimes I'll head to my local bookstore and pick a few off the shelf that I've never heard of.
Some manga I read while listening to a specific artist or a specific song, others I'll just throw on some soothing music and sit in bed under some covers.

I've really gotten into the hobby of buying manga and reading the physical copies. I'd actually like to be able to own stuff that predates 2000's because reading scans of that stuff can be difficult and I want to support the official release.

But you know. I don't have an infinite well of money and I'm a niche reader so reading online is just how you must.

I've pirated some official scans of series saved on my Hard Drive. So I pretty much only read through my computer.

If I could, I'd prefer to buy physical volumes but it's simply not practical for my finances and current living situation.

Those stacks and stacks of volumes add up in price and they eat up shelf space pretty fast..

Never tried manga physically, might soon if I can find a series or two at the library though. (Not really interested in buying and I don't have room quite yet to start a book collection)

Currently, I just read from my phone (Using the MangaBrowser app). Always in bed, laying, total silence. No food or music or anything.

Bought my first light novel earlier last month and have been reading through it over the weeks here and there, same as manga. (Bought digital on Amazon. Reading through Amazon Kindle App) Thinking I'll pick up (when I have a little more spending money) a amazon kindle for reading.

It'd be nice to have a separate device (so I don't run down my phone battery) for reading. Plus it's made for reading, better on the eyes and what not. So double win, I guess.

Also think it'd be nice since I could have separate storage with it too, and I could for example (with the MangBrowser App) download the chapters for several manga series for offline reading without worrying about storage on my phone getting eaten up.
