Watched the raw version, I'm excited as this show takes place in my country of origin. The art is based on the city of Sighisoara, Romania and since I live a few hundred km away I recognized the places. I did some comparison pictures taking google streetview captures.

And one from Bucharest, the CEC Bank building

I'm liking this adaption, it shows that Fate its great when it get aways from the school setting and focuss on the Holy Grail War.

The pace is a little too fast for my taste, but I guess its normal because the quantity of characters is huge and it tries to focus on all (I guess that it will get better when some characters get killed)

Looks like I'm one of the few who liked the OP

Also the church interior is accurately drawn. It's called Church on the Hill and you get to it from the street by walking up the covered steps shown in the previous post. The entire scene where Kairi Shishigou is walking through the courtyard of the church, down the steps towards the street is entirely accurate as in real life.

Quite impressive in adapting the location.

I keep seeing people talk about "school setting" and I can't understand it beyond memes. What school setting? School literally appeared for maybe two or three episodes at most.

Also Fate is at it's best when the grail war is just a backdrop for actually good characters.

TM is at its best when being silly, HA is still the best thing they've made

There's good well written kind of SOL like FHA and some of FSN and then there's Astolfo. One of these things died with old nasuverse.

That was better than the first episode, I don't think I will be able to remember most of the names tho.

The only character that bothers me so far is that thirsty woman, not like she can make a good first impression that way tho...

Fran best girl, so cute.

Allow me to correct myself. When I speak about school setting I speak about the type of cast. The teenagers, the tsundere, the girl in love with the senpai, the prick, the focus in the teen romance, the child growing throught the really short period of the war and being able to match some pros at the end of it... or maybe is that I didnt liked the characters in F/SN because it is not that well written (I prefer the Greedy Gil from Zero than the Horny asshole of F/SN and the Conflicted and desperate Saber of Zero than the Visual Novel heroine realizing that she is a gurl that is Saber in F/SN).

Something that I loved from Zero is that all the characters had different backgrounds, their own dilemmas, different perspectives, it was not about the protagonist going throught the war, but about all the characters trying to survive it.

gil was also horny in FZ, did you even read the source? he wanted to break saber and rape her, he's was also asshole so idk what your talking about

saber in zero was awful "muh honor" one of the main reason saberfags doesn't like her in zero at all,

but about all the characters trying to survive it.

lol, the only who cared about the War was Tokiomi,Kariya and Kerry, Team Rider was just playing videogames or doing other stuff , Team Caster just killed people and he did that already before the war, Kayneth thought the Grail is just child game and didn't took it seriously,

You do realize that you literally described FSN here, right?
FZ on other hand WAS about a hypocrite going through a war that you know will end up in tragedy.

Mordred and her master has great chemistry which is pretty lit and it was perfectly showcased with that battle that they had....Mordred is a BEAST

Other than that, I'm liking the servants and masters on the black side a bit more atm but that can easily be suspect to change once we see more of the red team....And speaking of the red team, Lord Kotomine Shirou is way too shady like Kirei was xD

Great episode yet again and thankfully the animation quality didn't decline and I'm looking forward to seeing more from Chiron, Astolfo (Not sure if this is a guy or a girl lol), Siegfried and Frankenstein (That Spartan dude was weird lol and Jack the Ripper is a little girl? THAT is gonna be interesting lol)

Likewise with Mordred, Saybuhhhh wanted to be identified as a man and as such, that's how she is remembered in history (King Arthur and not Arturia)

Nice followup, mostly just servant introductions though.

I thought Asolfo was a girl until I read some of the posts here referring to him as a guy. xD
Loli Jack the Ripper was quite something. :3

Mordred is definitely my favorite so far, her master is pretty awesome too and the duo do seem to have a nice dynamic between them. The action was pretty awesome, glad to see they're maintaining the quality of the animation.

So Joan of Arc is the ruler, her flashback at the beginning was quite sad.
Wonder who the servant who appeared at the end is. :o

I don't really like the opening, it feels a little out of place, it actually kinda reminds of Another's opening, and that is never a good thing...

The fight scenes were good without being anything too special.Considering the fact that this could be Crapocrypha's only redeeming point, i hope A-1 can up their game and deliver something special.

Also, the fansubs i watched were really bad, but i suppose it's better than watching it raw

Slightly better than the first episode, but I'm still not convinced as I feel as if I've already forgotten who half these introduced characters are, other than both Sabers and Shirou. Other than that, this is definitely still lacking something, especially in the character department. The fights weren't very exciting either, which worries me when nothing else is exactly impressing either.

Mordred simply does not like genders overall. If anything she's Mordred. She doe snot view herself as feminine and counts that as insult towards who she is.
Also no shit during middle ages nobody would have taken a woman warrior seriously. So Arthur HAD to be Arthur.

Rin is the only painfully generic character in FSN, every other one is several times more fleshed out and interesting than the cast in FZ (not that that's saying much)

Funny is that for me Rin was one of the most enjoyable, and Sakura, Shirou and Shinji were unbearable to me.

SabrinaK said:

Gilga was still a horny bastard in Zero though

Still I liked his writting more in Zero, you can see that he's not a Villain focused in catching the girl, you can see different sides of him in how he confronts the other characters (hate and rivalry with berserker, respect for Iskander and later for Waver -he left him live-, curiosity and amusement corrupting Kirei), it was more than trying to take Saber from the MC, I watched both the anime and read the novel, and you can understand the perspective of Gil, see him as a manifestation of hedonism

SabrinaK said:

Well..Team Caster was sort of just there to kill children, Iskander was vanilla af, and Illya > Iri.

Zero was about ideals and perspectives. Caster team were crazy, but they had their own perspective of the world, was twisted AF, but was understandable and had a development that actually exist -not killing children, but admiring terror and contrasting it with beauty.-

Iskander is the most beloved character of Zero, and an hype machine (cannot argue with you because its your opinion and not a critic)

Irisviel (best waifu) > Ilya (coo, but not that much)

SabrinaK said:

And if we're talking about F/SN UBW, I would say that Rin is at least more interesting than her father because she visibly struggles with reconciling her mage side with her humanity and actually grows as a person unlike Tokiomi. I mean Gil and Kirei found him so boring that

Tokiomi was not my favorite, but I never found him boring, besides he was there to rival Kariya (their confrontation was family VS duty) [/quote]

SabrinaK said:
Besides, everyone in F/SN has different backgrounds too. The difference is that they're revealed through the course of 3 routes but considering how bad of an adaptation the 2006 anime was of the first one, I don't blame you for thinking the whole thing is poorly written. But even Shinji, the most seemingly irredeemable prick, has understandable - though still not justified - reasons for acting the way he does that are revealed later on. Plus if you're a fellow Kirei fan then you'll probably definitely love him way more in Heaven's Feel than you did in F/Z, just sayin. =)

I love the Kirei of HF, but I love more the Kirei of Zero because its the development oh how Kirei became Kirei (Im using the word Love too much, but I did enjoyed a lot the struggle of Kirei trying to fight his own sadistic nature, and wanting not to be how he is. And Gil playing the role of Mephistopheles with him.

SabrinaK said:

Fate/Strange Fake. There's no main protagonist + you see a different side of Gilgamesh since his bff Enkidu is there + larger, significantly more interesting cast than Zero imo and a lot more action as well.)

Thx will do

Fai said:

The fact that is justified doesnt make it really worth, Shirou never fought a real battle, even having practice in archery never had to hit a person with it, never used magecraft to battle another magician, never fought with a sword for real, so making him fight and win all the pros is something than I find really silly (its about the power levels, and Servants are Servants because they are the top of the top, I remember the scene in Zero were they refused to attack Assassin (the weaker servant) because they had no equipment to fight servant) even if you justify it you have to sell it, and Shirou doesnt sell it (at least for me)

Zero was about ideals, and the Saber from Zero -the first time she was summoned- was desperately trying to ammend what she thought was her mistake, without realizing the the mistake was herself, Saber has always been characterized as an honorable knight (how much focus they put on it depends on the novel, game, anime), always wanting to fight for what she thinks is right and wanting the morality high ground on her side, what happened in Zero was because of being paired with a guy how fights anything but honorably and having as rivals two kings whom doesnt think like her about kingship and her old brother in arms that reminds her her mistake

There were more things I wanted to respond but found no point in doing it because were biased and exagerated opinions instead of a proper critic.

She was conceived between Artoria and her sister, Morgan le Fay, through unorthodox circumstances. Artoria, normally female, was a pseudo-male at the time due to Merlin's magecraft (aka futa magic), so Morgan enchanted her with a spell to extract sperm from her. Morgan developed it within her own ovary, and made the child into a homunculus clone of Artoria - Mordred. So Artoria is technically the father.

Astolfo's master seems to have a very....er, interesting fetish and what looks to be a BDSM style dungeon too. At this rate, I wouldn't be surprised if she tries to get Astolfo into a Yuri relationship with her. O_O

We get to see a number of servents appearing in this episode. Berserker looks really cute with her fringe and voice and Astolfo herself is upbeat and energetic.

That little kid shown with blood on her face did creep me out. I'm assuming that she's the assassin servent?

There is a slight quality decrease compared to episode 1, but the fight near the end of the episode still looked impressive. Hopefully A-1 can maintain this quality throughout the show.

OP song is good, but Garnidelia's ED is much better. Nice animation with it as well, with the Ruler being nude at one point. =P

Great episode overall.

Well, Mordred is a powerful special being and just judging from the location she was summoned. I would think she could easily tell. Servants and masters are connected after all to the point that a servant can tell how powerful their master is. and plus, mordred took off her helmet which is her way of hiding her idenity and she showed it to Kari. It's only obvious he would know who she is.

Sending Karna out to assassinate Jeanne at the end there. This fights gonna be epic XDDDD

OP song is good, but Garnidelia's ED is much better. Nice animation with it as well, with the Ruler being nude at one point. =P

Great episode overall.

Dude its just "normal" skinship for master and servant i mean mana transfer are

I don't know I'm not very impressed by this fate series.
I felt the same at the start of fate zero and that turned out to be a fantastic anime; however after the second episode I was hoping to get interested in some of the (many) characters, but that didn't happen yet. The animation is not that great either (why you spoil me so, ufo). Hopefully things will improve; but going for 14 servants might have been a bit overkill.

she doesn't want to be called a woman but she still use that mini-short... well not that I mind at all, it's better that way.

I'm surprise that the names of all servants are know but a little disappointed with this because it would have been better to have the secrecy of the names until their death.

and that shirou kotomine... just... no.

Good episode, terrible subs. That was barely better than watching it raw, and I'm probably going to have to rewatch it once UTW translates it...

The only thing I am wondering about is why the Red faction is immediately going on the attack. I assumed that they would show some scenes of the two teams planning out their strategy before everyone just randomly rushes into fights, but I guess not. Also, they need to show more of best girl Joan of Arc.

What's the difference?
