It's kind of in the middle, sometimes I wait till the middle of the season to start or near the end (since we're literally a few weeks from spring).

I started to watch Youjo Senki when it had 6 episodes out, Masamune-kun no Revenge when it had 8, Kuzu no Honkai just now. I'm sure there are a few other series I need to watch, but I like spacing them out.

I wait for them to finish.

I don't watch airing anime. Only time I've ever watched on air was Pokemon XY (Up until Season 2) and Dragon Ball Z Kai (During it's original run on Nicktoons).

I prefer having the whole series laid out, so if I want to watch multiple episodes I can or if I want to binge it all (unlikely, but) I can. I like the option.

I wait for four episodes to air and then watch those in reverse order.

You know you can search for old threads, right? This is about as old a thread idea as subs vs. dubs.

It depends on how many episode it has.If its a short series i would wait for it to complete and watch it rather than waiting for every week for new episode.

I prioritize. Can I wait until it ends or not? That's the question I ask myself and then decide.

I watch them weekly and i got em around 30 and got no troubles following them rly specialy since there arent that many anime out there that would have an really complex story that would be hard to remember things until next week.

I used to watch them weekly, but for the past few seasons I've been waiting until they're complete or mostly so and then binging them.

I try to watch the new episodes as soon as they air. For me, that's the point of watching airing anime (although I do admit that it's harder to remember the plot sometimes)

I do a hybrid with currently airing for shows I want to watch ASAP.

I would wait a certain amount of time until I am able to watch 4-6 episodes and then binge them, and then repeat.

I can then revolve one currently airing anime one week with 4-6
Then next week, watch a different currently airing anime with 4-6

There are a couple currently airing anime that I'm waiting until it's done because I'd rather play catch up on the ones that were finished airing.

I wait for them to finish. I like to watch series at my leisure, not in twenty-minute bursts once a week.

I tried it the other way, and it was flippin' torture. An episode would end on a cliffhanger, and then I'd wait a week only to find out that the next episode didn't resolve the cliffhanger. It was as if the writers were saying "Oh, you wanted to know what happened with X character? Sorry! Maybe you'll find out next week (but probably not!)"

Put another way, I prefer to blitz through multiple episodes while the intrigue is high, rather than having that same intrigue turn to irritated impatience.
Important Note: I no longer - in any way, shape, or form - consider myself a moral nihilist (even in my old, convoluted definition of the term). I very much do believe there is such a thing as objective good and evil. In addition, I apologize for any of the posts I've made that are rude, aggressive, or otherwise unbecoming.

I've always striven to walk a path befitting a follower of Christ, and now recognize some of my old comments here as misguided if not outright wrong. If you happen upon them, pray do not let them darken your view of the God I serve. He is kind, even if I, at times, have not been.

I usually test out a few animes of the season and if it catches my interest, I watch it each week. If it doesn't, I leave it and the rest that didn't catch my interest go in my plan for watch and I'll maybe come back to it later.

Depends a lot on the type of show and how much time i have. For example, Scums Wish is definitely one Im waiting to binge after exams. After 4 episodes, I cant handle the gloom for 3 months in a season without enough other anime to watch. Fuuka is one that I watch every week because its easy enough to watch, and uneventful enough such that I dont really care about what happens next.

Depends on the series. If I really like it, 1 episode per week. If i'm trying to just discuss it even if I dislike it, 1 episode per week. If I like it but I'm not that into it(a.k.a 6-7ish territory.), wait till it's finished and then binge.

I usually watch airing anime weekly and even more so if the show gets me super excited. At that point while struggling week by week in school it somewhat becomes a small part of happiness in my life lol

However recently, I've been really impatient and have gotten used to having all the episodes available so I can finish it all in a day.

I just wait till there's like 4 or more episode something like that. Or I wait for the anime to be done airing if it's short. (10 - 13 episode)

On the other hand, I don't really occasionally watch every episode when it comes out however if the anime is amazing in my opinion then I will probably watch the new episode when it immediately comes out.

The reason might be because you already knew the whole story that you werent as invested as the first time around which is only natural. I think viewing weekly is some kind of cheating your emotions, just like food tastes better when youre starving. Binge watching gives a better understanding and allows analysis more. To each his own I guess

No, I meant how my experience differed from my friends. I knew I wasn't getting the same experience.

Also, I disagree with the analysis thing. 1 episode of an anime has a lot jampacked in it. If you watch it weekly, you'll have discussions regarding the single episode before the next one airs. For instance, I watched Code Geass weekly and each episode spawned some interesting discussions on Veoh that really colored my perception of the show by the time the next one came out.

If you marathon it, you'll probably miss some of the subtleties the show was trying to throw your way, kind of like marathoning a manga vs reading chapter by chapter.

I mean if you read the discussions after every ep while marathoning, the analytic/understanding capabilities are definitely higher than when watching weekly as the human mind is not capable of remembering everything, unless you live in a Basement and have no new memories of every day :D
This gets amplified with longer shows. I dont think you remember some super subtle foreshadowing after 5 years of watching a show weekly.

Hmmm... you've definitely got a point. I think both ways of watching render their own analytic benefits.

Depends

Most of the time, I try to watch an anime I like around it's airing, but then again, I found my favorite anime of all time some eight years after it finished airing. And I have found out about a lot of good anime long after they have finished airing(recent example cat's eye, which aired in the eighties) Still doesn't diminish the enjoyment factor for me though

The last airing show I watched was the first season of Rewrite, and dear god that was an enormous waste of time.

Interesting, for me I'm almost always gonna save sequels in particular so I can marathon them and fully relish the hype. I even pass on season 1 when they announce in time that a second season will come out a year from now so I can watch both seasons consecutively then.

Just recently I watched S3 of Haikyuu and I think I would have enjoyed it drastically less on a weekly basis, with all those heartwrenching cliffhangers and 1 week in between each episode for the hype to mellow out.

Why do you go for the weekly approached with sequels in particular? Is it also because ob the amount of discussion they generate, or are you just impatient or is there another reason?
I probably regret this post by now.

Depending on the anime sometimes I wait for it to be complete and sometimes I put it on post notifications and leave my sound on high until another episode comes out;
Its gotta be super interesting though for me to actually watch it while its airing.

Now that you ask, I've never explicitly thought the process out. I guess it's that with original seasons I don't know how well I'll like the show, and it's more tedious to figure that out over a long period of time. With sequels, I'll already have a rough idea of the show's reputation, how many discussion-type people will he watching it, and so on. Plus, it seems like sequels tend to get more discussion anyway since there are often other "laggers" who watch the first season after it aired and are hyped for the second/third/etc.

Of course, the type of show does have an effect. I think I'd be less prone to watch something really fast-paced weekly, such as probably is the case with Haikyuu!, but I don't think I've encountered that sort of scenario until now, actually: I'm rather conflicted about whether I want to watch Shingeki no Kyojin's second season whilst it airs, although I'm leaning toward not doing so or delaying it until late in its airing. At the moment the only upcoming sequel I'm definitely planning on watching whilst it's airing is very slice-of-lifey and well-suited to weekly watching anyway (Cardcaptor Sakura 2018).

Reworded and summarized: The loss of hype by weekly waiting is a tradeoff for the amount of extra discussion you get for airing shows, and since my adrenaline-style hype tends to be mostly centered around fast-paced shows, I don't necessarily lose much by watching a sequel weekly unless it's a fast-paced show. Since sequels often get more attention and discussion, that therefore usually makes them good targets for watching while airing.

I used to watch anime while its airing all the time. These days I sort of start an anime like that and just stop after a couple eps and finish it off when its complete if I'm still interested in it. However, I have been keeping up with all the Dragon ball super releases since it premiered. It may not be the best dragonball series, in fact many argue that its the worst, but the little 10 year old dragonball fan in me loves the series so much that he'll love anything dragonball (besides crappy video games).
