I dislike it most of the time, especially when the guy "accidentally offends" the girl and didn't mean to. I

It's just dumb. They get hit for no reason.
Oh no I'm embarrassed, *punches guy in the face*.

Makes no sense.

One of Touma's few badass moments.

Well, people getting mad for no reason in general is annoying.

But women overpowering men is satisfying.

I just like seeing female characters not taking any shit and being stronger than male characters, since usually it's the males who get that spotlight. But that might be irrelevant to the topic so I probably shouldn't have said that in case of it getting misinterpreted.

Interesting topic of conversation. Now that you mention it, that happens "a lot" in anime xD

But I rather see a guy get slapped around for the dumbest things then a girl get hit around by a guy. (One is comedy the other is just abuse.)

Hmm...where do you see the males get that spotlight. From my experience with anime it's almost always the female who abuses the male for comedic effect and doesn't take shit from them. There are only a few examples of the opposite which were already posted here (like Hei from DtB).

See that's exactly the problem - if we cannot get over this distinction we will never have true gender equality.

This thread is basically about equality. Rather than seeing female superior to male or male superior to female, I would want to see them on equal grounds.

Depends on the context, but most of the time I find it pretty annoying (no matter which genders are involved).. also its really unrealistic cause if you started overreacting and slapping people for any bs reason in real life you would get in trouble really fast. lol

You misinterpreted what I said, I didn't talk about females abusing males, but the fact that males are almost always the stronger ones, and that females are weaker and need help from men. So it's refreshing to see females being strong/stronger on their own. But, as I said, that was kind of irrelevant to the topic.

They're only stronger when used for comedy though. In real battles they are still almost always weaker than the men.

But anyways in anime, it's implied that the guys don't really get hurt (because women are weak, right?), making it acceptable. Furthermore, domestic violence against women is a sensitive topic, so it'd be a faux pas for an anime to make it into a comical position. You'd get feminists up in arms about it.

I know what you all mean. See it in practically every anime out there. But it really can be bloody annoying. If the guy walks in on the girl and she's changing and all I don't mind that, I find it quite funny. But the one that annoys me is when for example a guy is in a shower/hot spring first and then female characters get in, but they start acting entitled and the poor guy has done nothing wrong haha. Ultimately I mean I don't mind it, I'm against violence between men and women regardless of which one is throwing the punches or slaps. But in an anime it can be funny from time to time. But most animes I've seen lately just have TO DAMN MUCH OF IT. That is when it gets on my nerves haha. Still, gotta love anime!!

Actually, there are some comedies where girls get hit. Chuu2Koi is a good example. A number of people have said they didn't like it.

oooohhh. I never noticed that... and come to think ofit, that do happen. a lot

"How do you feel about this?"

being it an accident, the girl would usually go bat shit crazy, the boy becomes a submissive pup.

right. it is annoying. it is unreal. that kind of reaction. normally, the girl'd scream, or put some towel on.

another thing too, that boy, who accidentally do this, would be slow to react, another minute. that too.

guess it is a sign that it's not worth it to watch.

when i find those type of scenes, it a step closer for me droppin that one.

always brings joy to my heart.

But seriously though ,there are so many cases where the abusive character in question would be immediately slapped back or at the very least ignored or ostracized by the rest of the group,if it were real life.

Like for instance Michiru from Plastic Memories, just fuck that bitch.

Actually it's works funny on anime but it doensn't work like that in reality and im concern about this. Usually anime doing that literally for a joke reason or just filling the anime, heh. But sometimes i glad to see those scenes especially if the guy has a bastard characterization.

I only hate it when the guy gets hit for things that aren't his fault. For example, a girl is wearing a skirt and a gust of wind appears out of nowhere, exposing her panties in front of him, so she hits him. Deplorable. These things rarely happen in reverse because there would be an outrage.

This always annoys me. Rumiko Takahashi has an obsession with making females strike males all the time, and sadly, because of her, it's become a regular thing.

The animes that employ those kind of slapstick jokes are mostly aimed towards men with plenty of fanservice. It makes you wonder why they thought violently abusing the lead male (who is supposed to represent the audience) would be a good idea. Unless japanese men are masochist.. that would make a lot of sense

Hey since I already made a poll, I thought why not make a second one about something else that really annoys me in anime.

When for example a guy walks into a bathroom (which is not locked) and sees a (half) naked girl and she flips her shit and starts hitting, kicking or throwing things at him.

I mean what's with all the male abuse in anime? Why are men so submissive in it?
And why are they not fighting back when some girl goes berserk at them even though they did nothing wrong?

I find this the most irritating trope in the entire medium and can't stand it.
Why is there so much violence against men but never against women? You never see a guy hit a girl for no reason.

How do you feel about this?

Sakura was probably the first character I started hating because of her selfish and bad attitude :3
There is countless moments I just wished to slap her :3

Yup but there is also another thing.
Male characters aren't allowed to be as expressive as female characters are.
If they are then they get judged upon but when Female characters are like that they don't get judged upon.
If a male character cries then ppl call him weak but when a femake character cries for the same reason then ppl would give her a hug.
