From what I've seen, I'd say more friendly. Most people here have some semblance of sanity, even if some users are a bit more blunt. The trolls and toxicity really just make me laugh when I see them. Including this "fighting another MAL user" thing.

With the taste of your lips, I'm on a ride
You're toxic, I'm slipping under
With the taste of a poison, I'm in paradise
I'm addicted to you
Don't you know that you're toxic?
And I love what you do
Don't you know that you're toxic?
gone bai bai

MAL is just MAL. Abit of hotshots here, faggots here, feminazi there, Trump lover here, anime fanatics everywhere. It's a beautiful world we live in, indeed.

If it were that toxic, I like to think some of us would not subject ourselves to such a crappy environment
But we do, so MAL is friendly

There are trolls and haters everywhere but usually friendly people are the majority.

-In a world where all the friendly people in MAL gets corrupted by falling into despair and starts becoming trolls/haters with the remaining sane friendly people creating a revolutionary army to fight back the corruption.

A young boy named Kazuma witnessed his parents death by the hands of these trolls when he was only 7 years old. He vowed to get rid of all trolls and haters in the world, to do this he joins the revolutionary army. However, as he climbs up the ranks in the army he soon learns that the revolutionary army's goal isn't what everyone thinks it is...

Id say 80% of MAL thinks MAL is toxic when in reality people complain so much about the negative it makes it seem like there is more than there really is.

I'd say friendly, since most of the users here seem to have some sense of decency.

Nothing's toxic here! Just look from my viewpoint and you'll see that the haters, shitposters, and trolls are what makes MAL friendly.

Despite people claiming how bad the community is on MAL, I don't see much of it. I think most people on the forums are quite OK.

I'd say MAL is just about bordering on anarchy but has enough law and order for proper, decent and intelligible discussions to take place. A perfect balance of both of you ask me..

The ones that claim that MAL is toxic are ironically the type of people who contribute to its toxicity in the first place. MAL was actually pretty toxic a couple years ago, but the atmosphere has changed considerably this last year, undoubtedly due to the character limit and the sex thread rule that was implemented, which caused a lot of members to "boycott" the forums. MAL has a pretty diverese userbase, so you'll find all kinds of people browsing the forums, which makes it more interesting.

Ugh, after being an official moderator for both Garry's Mod and TF2 as well as being an unofficial moderator for the Steam discussion forums, I can strongly say that MAL is quite friendly.

Actually, it's a good thing. The moment you see someone attacking some religion outside the context of culture preservation, you should know that this person has below average intellect or is just an overall disappointment in life. I guarantee you 8/10 this assessment works. The other 2 times is when a member of another religion is doing it -- well, he'll genuinely be doing his job.

On-topic: MAL's not toxic. Nice? I don't about that. Toxicity and nicety aren't even the determining factors in how well a community will thrive.

I usually only stay on Casual Discussion so everyone is 100x nicer. The people who post on a thread are usually those who have something meaningful to contribute.

The ones who post troll and sarcastic comments are always joking anyway. No harm done.

MAL's community is really tame compared to 4chan's.

Can't everyone just agree that MAL is a mixture of both adjectives? It can be pretty toxic at times with irrational and ignorant users attacking you left and right. But at the same time it can be pretty encouraging and accepting to your opinions. MAL is a diverse place... so with that, you'll find a variety of users with different personalites along with it. Everyone is their own person, whether they decide to be friendly or toxic to others around them is entirely their decision.

So plz don't make another thread about dis again. plz

Most people on MAL are very friendly. Of course, some people are nasty because a community has all kinds of individuals (there's even an "anime hating" club, on MAL!). But it's mostly friendly.

Friendlier than say, the Taleworlds forums(not like that's a difficult thing though), but in general it's more on the toxic side as far as I'm concerned.

It's just the level of toxicity that is common all over the internet so it's nothing awful nonetheless.

hmm i've only recently started posting on the forums, despite joining mal a long time ago, and i really like the community.
i mean every website is a bit toxic, but when compared to some other ones, mal is a cool place
maybe i'm wrong but at least i don't have the urge to block everyone including myself like i do somewhere else

As the community grows, a lot more toxic people will be posting more than those who are friendly. So many will notice that there is more toxicity in MAL compared to friendliness.
