Lol, the man service this episode..didn't take long for them to do some bath scenes XD

Looks like they are still building more for Tsukushi to improve. However, I'm also interested in Jin's character including the brief segments of his childhood. Quite a gap in skill between him and Tsukushi though. I think they really made Tsukushi look like an underdog there.

even though i liked more how the interaction between mizuki and tsukushi was presented in the manga it was fine, and what i wanted to watch the most in this episode was mizuki's smile lol so yosh my wish was granted, they omitted some small things but overall the episode was nice and enjoyable to watch, i finally get what kazama and mizuki meant, tsukushi will definitelly get better and better, also yay in the next episode they finally are introducing the girl, they rearranged the order or some scenes so i guess tsukushi's mom would be introduced soon too, can't wait for the next episode <3

Hopefully in the future main character is going to be a cool dude, like captain. I mean, it's no problem to be the "I need to get better" type of character, but he is kinda annoying.

That EXILE reference lol. And when they started climbing the fence lolol.

I guess Days is aiming for a more "positive" image, as usually characters are really struggling to get accepted by the team in these situations. It's nice though, to see the whole team behind him. :)

This episode really made me smile :)
I know it's a very typical/generic anime, but I love sports anime. Not to mention, soccer is my favorite sport, so I'm actually really enjoying this anime so far.
Enjoyment: 9.5/10

The show is kinda entertaining sure, but the art when they play football is sooooooo bad. It's like they didn't bother to watch people actually play, and shoot a bloody ball to see what it looks like, plus why the heck are so many guys running so close to each other during the match...

Whene there's no soccer i really enjoy this show, but does the subpar football portrayal throw me off.

Such mixed feelings :/

i know what you mean by that but i think the cgi is the worst out of everything. i actually got distracted by it and forgot to read the subtitles a few times o.O

i like the funny approach of this series. the other soccer series i've seen so far didn't have that so it's something new for me. i hope they get to show what happens two years later. i hope this doesn't die out like Area no Kishi did.

also: i'm finding Kazama creepier each episode...

The best part of the episode, by far, was the training session between MC and the captain. the contrast between the hard and weak kick, with the visible representation of the MC's progress. The part where the upperclassmen climbing the wall was hilarious.
I LOVED when we we found out that the captain had the same soccer history as the MC, except MC is now working harder. That is so inspirational!!
I can't wait to meet the main female lead next episode with her minus points gimmick.

I noticed that too! Seems like it would be on purpose to draw it like that though, but for what reason I don't know.

I'm surprised that Mizuki started soccer in high school as a complete beginner, he seems so pro. He also respects Tsukamoto, saying that to compare him and Tsukamoto is rude (or wtv the word he used) to the latter person. I like how Tsukamoto befriended all the first years and they don't hate him for being terrible on the field. They constantly yell at him but mostly as a way to cheer him on. Loving that friendship ^^ I'd like it if Tsukamoto didn't get teary-eyed so easily though, otherwise I like him as the MC.

Lol when the two senpai started climbing on the fence though, felt kinda random.

The only real problem i have with this show so far is the not really accurate depiction of a football game. Make that more realistic please.

Otherwise, i'm really liking the characters. That really seems to be the key point to every sports anime. The captain is awesome :D Tsukamoto is a sensational kid.

Lol at Kazama, asking the real questions. "Why do you think boobs come in pairs?"

It was nice to see Tsukushi contribute a little to their practice match victory, and I also like his drive to get better. He doesn't let the fact that he sucks ass discourage him, and that's a good trait to have. I think it was also cool to see his teammates backing him up when the other guys were teasing him.

Man, that backwards 7 on Tsukushi's jersey was driving me crazy. I thought someone would call him out on it but no one did, so it stayed that way, and for some reason it bothered me so much.
People on MAL refuse to actually enjoy watching anime.

Your taste in anime isn't a personality trait.

This episode, like the ones before it, wasn't anything groundbreaking but was still a very enjoyable watch, though maybe a little overstuffed. It's interesting how this doesn't really feel like a "sports anime" in the traditional sense, though. There's almost no focus on the actual mechanics of soccer/football. It's more of a show about a group of characters that happen to play it. The sport they play is incidental to the narrative.

I'm liking the emerging theme of Tsukamoto reinvigorating the soccer team with a passion that they had lost. Even though Tsukamato is by far the worst player in the show, he also enjoys the sport far more than the supposed pros. There is a purity and freedom to his inexperienced play that is absent from the diluted and restrictive approach of his superiors. In that sense, Tsukamoto is actually the best player on the show, because he actually remembers the heart of soccer that the other players have forgotten. Hence Kazama feeling joy for the sport once again as he practiced with Tsukamato, or Tsukamato's teammate realizing that there is a form of soccer that transcends mere tactics. The only character besides Tsukamto who seems to understand this essential feature of playing is the one explicitly paralleled to him, the team's Captain. This is shown best by his utter inability to teach Tsukamato how to kick stronger in a "logical" manner, opting instead to emphasize the importance of a nebulous "spirit" and passion. In other words, he framed his advice strictly in terms of "feelings," a concept that isn't the most concrete but that is the most important, as judged by Days's narrative.

I wish I had this anime back when I needed it most during soccer season. I keep thinking, "I should have tried harder..." but I did recall my coach telling me that even though I wasn't the best player, my determination pushed the rest of the team and although I didn't think much of it at the time because it was still them in the spot light and not me, I guess I did push them because they saw me working hard and didn't want a newbie to outdo them. Tsukamoto is the same right now. He enjoys soccer and works hard and makes his teammates want to work harder too.

I'm going to dig out my soccer cleats this week and hit the field.

Great episode again, Really enjoying this.

Nice to see Kazama practicing, That kick was glorious. The guy who everyone thinks is a genius probably worked harder than them all.
Lol at Kazama asking why do boobs come in pairs xD

I like how the Seiseki team takes Tsukushi being made fun for the laughs. Glad to see them rally behind him and eventually wreck the opposition.
The match didn't have as much football action as I expected but it did have good value in terms of atmosphere and spirit. It's really captivating to see how Tsukushi's pure form of playing to have fun is influencing the team. Compared to the clever and crafty style that each of them wanted to play, This was a return to the roots of their passion of what made each of them take up the sport in the first place. This goes for Kazama as well :D Tsukushi is doing more good than he thinks he is :3

So Mizuki was very similar to Tsukushi back in the day, No wonder he's been helping him out. Tsukushi's saying he wanted to get better was quite emotional but a grin on my face :P

It was an alright episode. But I just don't understand why the MC has to be so terrible. I get that they want him to grow throughout the series, but they didn't have to make him this bad for that to happen, cause now it isn't the least bit fun to watch him play.

And another thing, those permanent blushes make it even worse. Is he perpetually embarrassed or something?? I can't root for him when everything about him screams "I suck no matter what".
If he just looked a bit cooler(manlier) it would've helped a lot. But his overal "sweet" design really rubs me the wrong way. I'm only watching this for the rest of the team now.

Not really liking how everyone has a hard-on for the mc, but whatever at least this episode had some football in it. Speaking of the mc, though, what's up with his mood swings? One second he's laughing, the next moment he's crying his eyes out...
5 main aspects I base my ratings on:
1. Did DramaEnthusiast make a thread about it?
2. Is it better than Breaking Bad?
3. Did MellowJello recommend the shit out of it?
4. Has it caused a (very entertaining) shitstorm on MAL?
5. Is it actually good?

Scratch the fifth point, it's not very relevant...

I esp hate how in all the episodes they try to show MC as something special which just makes me dislike him and the anime
also wasn't that "dance" in the bath used recently in another sports anime, Haikyuu maybe?

Kazama just wants to protect his waifu, why can't you mean soccer players understand that? Don't ever bully Tsukamoto or the blond bae will boil you alive.

I've heard of girls in South Korea and Japan getting hair transplanted on their mounds if they were born without pubes. I guess some people find pubic hair to be either a turn on or a sign of womanhood or maturity. You still have hope, Tsukamoto.

The match was okay, they have more stamina than the other team, I guess that's their advantage at this point.

The new female manager will appear next episode.
