I'm sure a similar topic has been made before, but I feel like people just keep listing off the popular guys like Gigguk and Glass Reflection that just talk about anime everyone and their mom has seen or those fucking chapter review guys. I like reading articles and stuff, but honestly it's time consuming and hard to multi-task while doing other shit, so I just listen to a lot of these newer anime yt channels that do more analysis type content and I guess I just wanted to promote a few of them that I enjoy as well as talk about why we watch anime youtubers. Is it just for entertainment and to get a laugh? Do we actually want to learn something or find an interesting show to watch or do we actually want to learn more about the themes, influences and impacts of the anime we watch? Anyway here are few anime yt guys I enjoy that are pretty obscure Pause and Select: from his own description. "A really pretentious channel about anime. We upload when we can. Warning: This channel is full of spoilers." https://www.youtube.com/channel/UCfpDNSkMPnmMwZHhUyplbZg kenny lauderdale: Well researched and edited vidoes and talks about retro shit that I actually haven't seen. https://www.youtube.com/channel/UC6dsQSn70Cem7zFsUANHqpQ Theanimehero: A lot of his content kinda feels silly and even lazy. But there are nice gems that are well researched in there and he talks about anime that pretty much no one else talks about. https://www.youtube.com/user/hardtomakeausername2 Kenji the Engi: His editing has gotten a lot better over the years and he brings up a lot of interesting shows. I've also talked to him personally and hes a pretty cool dude. https://www.youtube.com/user/excaliburtealord |

I subscribe to different anime youtubers for different reasons, some for serious reviews others for laughs. The latter I'm usually more in the mood for these days though since you know, reviews are usually just opinions anyway. |

TAS brings both laugh and interesting points depending on the type of videos. So many people are salty about him XD they take him too seriously on the wrong videos However lately I started to like anime everyday quite a lot with his analyses and perspective but he doesn't make videos very often :( Pause and select is interesting too but he doesn't make many videos about topics that interest me. |

I really like the channel zombie_pegasus. He used to do a lot of cringe comedy as was known for his Love Live Start:Dash cover, but now he's more well known for translated a shoujo OVA from the early 2010s called "Ore-sama Kingdom" which he "translates" in whichever way he feels fit, being more or less accurate with his translations depending on a number of factors. Real answer: I mostly just watch Digibro since I stayed subscribed to him since when he was still making pony videos. His videos almost encouraged me to watch SEL as my first anime. I'm also subscribed to Glass Reflection, but I don't watch his videos too frequently. |

I only watch ghits and shiggles anime/otaku related channels If it have memes, moe or moemes das mah shizz And if its reviews, only ironic ones where the person doesn't go throught a extreme tangent and squeals the whole video Some rare instances of abridgers It's already obvious I'm kinda bullshitting a answer so I'll just do what I came here to do Spread some OtakuMOE love in the forums Yeah |

I like the Anime Man, Black Critic Guy, Misty Chronexia and Bennett the Sage. I don't agree with everything that Bennett reviews, but he makes some solid and honest points expect for his Violence Jack review. His Violence Jack review is 40 minutes of him doing nothing. |

For Anime https://www.youtube.com/user/bobsamurai I've been subbed to Bob for years and while he's grown as a person/youtuber, he is still humble enough to respond to his comments. I may not agree with him on everything but he presents things very well. His more recent videos may make him come off as an elitist but don't let that deter you because the guys heart is in the right place. He's simply sick of overrated anime and is not afraid to constructively criticize a popular series. Reviews old and new stuff. For Manga https://www.youtube.com/user/NZAnimeManga He's an intelligent and honest reviewer that isn't afraid to constantly update his top manga list. If something is better, he'll simply accept that objectively. Those are my two favs and actually the only people I'm subbed to in the anime community. I watch other channels but I don't bother subbing to their channels because I only watch them for selective videos and have no interest having my sub box spammed by vids I have no interest in. I also strongly prefer channels that do as little of week to week reaction vids as possible (I don't want my sub box spoiling future anime/manga). |

Bobsamurai is a great anime reviewer, though I do not always agree with his scores. AnimeEveryday is also a great channel, with a lot of anime lists. And ThatAnimeSnob may be total jerk, but his anime truths are often on point and him hating on overrated anime is extremely enjoyable. I don't understand the hate he gets. |

I'm only subbed to The Anime Man. Apart from his recent cringe videos he makes some very good points about anime in general and because he actually introduced me to anime that are less than mainstream. Others I tend to watch sometimes are Gigguk, Akidearest and AnimeEveryday. |

Digibro is such a great youtuber, I think has a lot of interesting points and ideas that I love listening to. He's also a great speaker too but you can't really tell that if you just watch his main channel, because all his videos there are heavily scripted and he sounds far too stiff and formal in his attempt to appeal to a wider audience. His vlogging channel is great however, and it's really really made me think plenty of times. It's a damn shame because people keep having knee-jerk reactions when he says anything controversial. Like the "worst taste in anime" is actually about how people should stop chasing objectivity and have favourite shows that have personal value and entertainment to them, which is actually the exact opposite of hating on your personal taste, but people just jumped and started getting angry at him. The Canipa effect also sounds like a great show to me, but I don't want to watch it that much as I don't think I've seen enough anime to really appreciate the added insight. Other than that, I don't bother trying to watch other anime youtubers. I hate their opinions. |

I like analysis and opinion pieces, which is basically what I look for in non-anime youtube anyways (or, at least, for the past year or so). I've been subscribed to Digibro for around three years, so I guess I've just gotten used to his style of thinking and writing that other people seemed to be pretty pissed with sometimes. Lately I've been attempting to watch everything he's made, along with all of his friends' (the PCP's) content, and that includes Endless Jess/My Japanese Animes, Best Guy Ever, and Mother's Basement (all anime youtubers). GoatJesus is great too, but I'm just slightly less invested, and I guess I'll watch a few videos from a few other people (Okko AC, RogerSmith2004, SubsonicSparkle, Demo, Canipa Effect, etc.), but other than that? Eh. Most anime comedy videos and standard reviews just make me cringe, so I don't seek them out. |

I like digibro, his videos are put together well and he talks nonstop so there isn't any unused space. However, lately he's just been filming himself melting into his couch while marathoning anime he hates and ranting about it. I agree with a lot of his points, so his rants can be really funny to listen to, but I like the videos about his favorite shows the most and it kind of seems like he's internalizing his newly found reputation as a controversial overly negative whiner and making videos along those lines. I understand the point of stuff like the Asterisk war sucks, it's him saying "This is why I drop so many shows, because this is my experience while watching them." which a lot of people don't seem to get and pull the "if you don't like it, don't watch it line" (which is exactly what he does, drop it), but still, he's coming out with way more negative videos now and doing exactly what he doesn't want people associating him with. I have similar taste though, so I take some of his recommendation and find shows I likw sometimes, so that's cool. Don't really watch anyone else, don't really watch digibro lately either. Bobsamurai had a video on his anime buying addiction that I liked. I like hearing people's stories, the perspective that only they can give, and want to see their personality injected into their work. So when Bob tells me he saw everyone else buying and unboxing anime making him want to get in on the fun, it tells me something about him and I can get investd in his "character". This is why I hate TAS so much, it's not that he's negative or dislikes shows I like, it's that he's, to use a phrase I saw on MAL today "an emotionless criticism machine". Anyone can point out a plot hole or say "that couldn't happen in real life", I don't need TAS for that. |

When i started watching and searching for anime recomendations in YouTube, i watched a lot of Misty Chronexia's and TriLine's tops, but Triline made less and less anime tops, and more about urban legends. TheAnimeMan has some interesting videos about news related to anime and his opinions. Akidearest has really promising stuff. Lalathras started being a really creative youtuber with his content, and despite he still made good rankings, he does less and less reviews. AnimeAbandon is pretty funny to know awfully dubbed forgotten old school OVAs, and AnimeOtoko has some interesting content. Digibro has interesting videos, but sometimes he said many stupid stuff, like "people who claim to like Ergo Proxy say it because they want to pretend to be smarter, because nobody can't actually like it" *douchebag* ThatAnimeSnob has some really good vids criticising trends, but he's the most awful person i've ever watch having a YouTbe channel about anime. It's no wonder why his account here was cancelled. |

I have a few I am subscribed to and enjoy. The Anime Man - Good for a laugh or serious videos, I really like this guy. Black Critic Guy - A good reviewer, but has started doing a lot of regular movie reviews too. Kinda like the Angry Joe Show has been doing lately...grrr. To be fair, his stated purpose for his channel is anime and films. BobSamurai - Interesting guy who is old enough to have life experience to share AkiDearest - Like her mix of different video types Glass Reflection - If I need a review or a suggestion I might watch a few GR videos Lost Pause - If I need a laugh, this guy is usually pretty good. |
