You're wrong. There exists a proper uncensored raw

Really, I do not think so. If the total length is only 22 mins. Then it must be a censored one.

I've been getting conflicting reports on this, but is episode 2 not going to officially air until next week, meaning we'll have to wait two weeks for episode 3, or is one of the groups that are streaming it going to stay on schedule? Like is it up on Amazon prime?

OP by supercell and ED by Aimer and EGOIST. Best boy and best girl. Episode 2 definitely lived up to episode 1's hype.

Mumei's athleticism is something to behold, those amazing reflex. I wonder how long has she been living as a Kabaneri to be able to basically take advantage of that. This definitely brings hope for the MC to become as skillful as her. However, there is a drawback of being a Kabaneri, perhaps only on Mumei as she seem to be very tired or in pain after fighting for prolonged periods.

I didn't expect that guy to shoot the MC off the train. That was such an intense moment, thought he was going to be left behind, until best girl came to the rescue together with his friend. Had a blast watching this episode.

It's not ripping off of AoT at all

The main characters aren't similar at all, this is more or less a zombie apocalypse and it's in a steampunk setting mixed with a little feudal era themes and most of all, its gonna take place on a fucking train, not behind a damn wall lol

My god, why do so many people think that every post apocalyptic series is a AoT ripoff

I guess people were right after all in saying that the OP wasn't finished after the first ep. Also, it really isn't surprising at all that Ikoma is some kind of hybrid between human and Kabane (a Kabaneri), but I didn't expect Mumei to be one too. It does make me wonder if the only way to become one is by stopping the virus from spreading like Ikoma did, or if there is some other way of becoming one. Either way, it'll be interesting seeing what else these two end up doing because of this unique status, assuming they survive Mr. Blue Samurai Prick's holier-than-thou attitude first.

Also, as expected from Aimer, the ED is very good.

Another action packed episode. Mumei was amazing. And Ikoma saving everyone despite them turning against him was a strong and emotional moment.

That Mumei girl sums everything I hate in edgy anime; a kid who's overpowered, has distinctive shitty attitude, acts apathetically in the most dire situation, and narrates her own actions. How can I grasp the seriousness of the moment when there are people in such caliber. AoT have strong people, but still they are rational and don't step into the battle field as if they were going for a walk.

Technically it's not a ship because I'm just predicting what will be happening. I never said anything about wanting anyone to be with this or that person, and I sure as heck didn't mention anything about who ending up with whom. I'm just making a guess based on anime cliches.

I laughed when I saw how someone on the last discussion thread nailed it with Mumei being a Kabaneri as well due to tropes. xD

And even though I previously agreed with someone thinking that they lowered the bridge at night bc protocol Ill have to go back and think that they just gon done fucked up because we needed to get them killed.

This show is definitely not perfect and can be predictable but it has room to grow and if anything I find it entertaining, the eye candy helps too.

And yeah the samurai guy was an ass but then, I'm sure that a good amount of people calling him out for it would have wanted the MC dead too. People can be ignorant and scared, sure it's stupid that they haven't learned that HEY Kabaneri turn immediately and can't talk! Just as it is stupid of them to lower the bridge.. but that's just it humans can be dumb and ignorant not everyone of course.

Add fear into that and introducing some weirdo that has a glowing heart? I wouldn't want to risk it. He's a complete stranger vs a lot of people's lives on the train.

Still though samurai is an ass.

MC is okay so far not annoying but not instantly likeable to me. He got a bit too excited trying to prove he could use that gun. If something went wrong people could have gone killed if he missed the Kabaneri or the gun didn't work.

I just hope we get to see a lot of character growth on everyone. Even mumei, I dont want her to just stay the badass. I hope to see her past and grow friendly or at least give a reason why she has so much sass/attitude. She is pretty blunt and honest though, which is nice. I do like she takes no one's shit though. And that she realizes how ignorant society can be.

So yeah pretty promising, good character development and no "We are moving to a new town and stay inside these walls!" please.
Other than to go and get supplies and protect trains I hope to see th fighting for something more.

Dude it's as if other seasonal anime have a very good script either. Sure event makes no sense or havent explained, but at least there's a plot and as you said it visually looks good, I myself think this show most likely it could be decent or bad at worst but nowhere near trash. Of course since we are just stating our opinion here or in this case our subjective expectation.

I already had a positive opinion of the show thanks to a fairly well exectued first episode, but I can say without a doubt that this episode is the one that sealed the deal for me.
As always with this post-apocalyptic type of story, seeing humanity giving in to fear is as entertaining as it is depressing, and the show being specifically set in a steampunk feudal Japan allows us to witness the multitude of ways in which the Bushido could be either abused, misinterpreted or completely dismissed by the samurai whose task is to "protect" the population.

Kusuru in particular seems to be quite the interesting case: while showing a total devotion to the Bushi Princess, he appears to value certain virtues of the Bushido at the detriment of other essential ones (namely benevolence). On the one hand he's ready to die as a samurai to prove his honour (and to ensure Ayame-sama's safety), but on the other hand he's so far removed from the reality of the world he's able to basically deny a well-meaning young man the right to live without a second thought nor an ounce of empathy. We know from the way he treats Ayame that he is a pretty decent guy, but the total inflexibility in his application of the principles of the bushido code makes him come across as a self-righteous bastard rather than a honorable samurai.
Can't wait to see what the show's gonna do with his character.

Mumei as usual was cute and badass, so not much else to say about her, but damn, Ikoma was impressive. If there's someone this episode who deserves a cookie (and a warm hug), it's definitely our resident megane-chan.
For one, I really appreciated the contrast between the "revelation" scene in this episode and the one in AoT. In the latter, Armin and Mikasa visibly not giving a damn about Eren being the rogue titan showed how unusually strong the bond that unites these three was; in the former however, Fatass-kun's reaction offers a more realistic portrayal of how most people would behave in a similar situation. Even the strongest of friendship can waver in the face of fear: Fatass-kun had a right to be afraid, and he freaking was. But beyond the question of Ikoma's humanity, he is first and foremost his best friend, and one doesn't simply leave their best friend to die in an abandoned train station overrun by iron-hearted zombies (especially when said best friend basically saves your life even though everyone including you let him go).

Speaking of abandon, Ikoma realizing he was being left behind and pretty much crying his eyeballs out seriously hit me in the feels. Just like the choking scene in episode 1, this one was unexpected and absurdly effective. Keep up the good work, WIT.

Well this was a pretty good episode, I'm curious to see how the plot will evolve, I'm guessing they're heading for the capital and Mumei will probably introduce Ikoma to other Kabaneris.
So far it's my favorite show this season and I really like Mumei and Ikoma, great characters even if they're not particularly original.
Also the soundtrack, the animation, the opening and ending are all great, sure the plot is very similar to AOT and there are some inconsistencies but overall I'm really enjoying it, now I'm just hoping it stays this entertaining the whole season.

Had a hunch that Mumei was also like Ikuma. Those zombies are pretty much mini titans; not saying it's a bad thing, I love Attack on Titan, but just pointing out the way the funny way they run. And this soundtrack...can't get enough of Sawano Hiroyuki.

"Being saved by someone you've thrown away, I hope you will live with this shame for the rest of your lives" ....such good lines. Nice to see a protagonist with this much conviction and the stones to back up their words.

As for the powerful 7.0 earthquake that resulted in the delay--hope they're all right and wish them safe with swift rescue.

This show continues to deliver. Competent juniors stepping up (apprentice engineer, what I would call a fireman from her observed duties in episode 1), Mumei being awesome without being overly powerful (reloading, using the enemies instincts and momentum against them), the OP was very good, and the music throughout has been great.

My only nitpick was Mumei being depicted with the classic anime trope of running, bent forward with her arms angled back at her sides as she ran full speed. Its a very ridiculous pose to adopt if you are actually trying to run! But its become a classic part of anime so I suppose we have to live with it.

I see a faction war within the survivors between those who support Ayame, the Lord's daughter, and those who would support someone else as the leader of the refugees. I'm not sure which way the chief samurai will go: he will be divided between loyalty to the Lord's daughter and his own ruthless practicality (which he has displayed several times) which would urge him to support an experienced adult rather than a child as leader.

Ikoma nd Mumei having those glowing hearts is also not going to help unit and peace aboard the train.

Very much looking forward to next week.

This is a really good episode. Excellent soundtrack (ost, OP and ED) and animation definitely make it enjoyable. I also like the portrayal of reality in this anime because humans still haven't learned to make everything perfectly (episode 1 + 2) and go with the propaganda (bitten by kabane = rip). Mumei was okay, but I'm interested in her background story. And I like that MC, he's not like a machine and acts tough after his new heart was discovered, but saves and curses them.

you should probably read what i said. "if the virus doesn't reach the brain they won't turn only the heart". also refer everything i said in the previous episode (previous thread).
If that really is a virus the transformation in kabaneri is nonsense and he should've transformed in a kabane. Viruses don't die just because they don't reach the brain or because you choke yourself.
Also I am doubtful about the choking too, enough force to completely block an artery but not enough to damage his throat? Meh

Maybe the animation is top quality, not that I care, but that weird lighting is pissing me off.

knk is like the homework of a student that, in order not to be found out, changes the words of what he copied. Even if the end result is different, it is still basically a rip off.

Ikoma is an awesome MC. Ikoma is definitely not some typical Shonen MC. He is very level headed, rational, and intelligent. He does some batshit insane stuff to himself, kills kabane like a total badass, but still has noble intentions of saving people. With all the people of the world abandoning their humanity by killing anyone and everyone when they have doubts, I'd say, ironically, he's the only Human left on Earth!

Yes exactly. I don't see the problem with that. There's clearly some faction keeping these things under wraps and they are clearly in cahoots with the lords of the stations.

Ikoma is simply the first CIVILIAN to actually develop and research the Kabane this extensively.

I've also realized something else about the Bushi's weaponry. Those rifles are made for long range not short range fire like Mumei's guns. Your average human will get fucked up if he lets a kabane get that close to him. Firing at long range doesn't have enough power to pierce through the Kabane hearts

Yup, thought so.

MC along with a few others, including the girl with the spiked shoes, are Kabaneri. Seems like the MC has a better hold on his infection unlike Mumei though.

Also, the MC is still pretty damn cool. Seems a bit naive, but he's pretty damn selfless and badass.
