Interesting to see Grimgar showing up on the monthly rankings there.

If we had the data for w/c 18th and 25th Jan then it would break the 30k sales barrier but we don't so its stuck on 28186 (sales as of 17th Jan + Feb total) - an increase of just 5 on the previous figure, which was the figure for 14th February.

Platinum End in the top 10 there. I got a feeling we'll see a lot of that this year.

So, what makes Kono Suba so different from the -yet again- other 35871349174 light novels which feature 'going into a game world' or, 'being transported to another world'?

Grimgar vol 1 min. possible sales to date calculation:
max sales w/c 1st Feb 4416
sales w/c 8th Feb 5110
max sales 1st - 14th Feb = 4416+5110 = 9526
period 1st Feb-28th Feb - 16510 sales
min sales 15th - 28th Feb = 16510-9526 = 6984
sales as of 14th Feb - 28181
min total sales as of 28th Feb = 6984 + 28181 = 35165
Thus Grimgar vol. 1 had at least 35165 total sales as of 28th Feb 2016.

Parody that's why.
Kickstarter for Rokujouma is fully funded. Good work everyone. Lets wait for the result of our hard work together.

So the average person on earth has written 5 isekai light novels now? Wow.

To answer your stupid question:
- a) there aren't anywhere near that many and never will be
- b) literally the only thing such series all have in common with one another is the things you included within your quotes.

But of course you already knew both those things already, right?

This makes Grimgal's sales look much nicer, not showing up in the rankings much but still racking in quite a few sales, good stuff.
It's funny how the anime seems to have been made to advertise the songs in it more than the actual novel but the songs seem to be flopping and the novels and anime's sales aren't looking up to be that poor.

Ahiru no Sora
it would be nice to see this animated! long shounen sports anime!
I've read the manga but dropped it cause I can't be excited over a sports manga xD
it would be great as anime and the sales are good!!

Platinum End
in my plan!
it seems that it will get animated after 3-4 years of serialization xD

Magi: The Labyrinth of Magic
I hope to see S3 for it since the manga is in it's final arc and the plot is still interesting

Omoi, Omoware, Furi, Furare
Kurosaki-kun no Iinari ni Nante Naranai
Harumatsu Bokura

so many shoujo manga in top 20 and I hope to see one of them animated soon!
Kurosaki got a live-action but it's so bad that's why it's better to see it as anime soon ><

Well in the end most fans are look for source material and BD/DVD.
Also separate OP/ED to different CD and yet release both CDs at same day(even though OP/ED both are by same band)? i think that was a mistake.

Last month grimgar had 50k this month 80k(series total)
130k (all anime boost)
before the anime volume 1 had less than 10k total (using kuuderes calculation we can assume it has around 35k atm)
The series in total probably had less than 50k total sales before the anime, by the end of the anime with volume 8 coming out and stuff, i think it will probably break the 300k bar or get pretty close to it.

From 30-50k before anime to 250-300k its a big boost in popularity

Overlap's first anime is a success no doubt.

there is really no need to talk about konosuba.

Mangawise
Handa-kun is pretty impressive
Platinium Ends is all about name recognition at least atm

It doesn't take itself seriously. It's a pure comedy show that doesn't try to be pretentious or edgy. In many ways it's a parody of the genre. Much more interesting than generic Grimgar, DanMachi and 100's of other light novel adaptations.

Also the MC, Kazuma, is not annoying like most other light novel MC's. The characterization for the series is actually quite strong.

I just dont see it happening

I see it reaching 6 or 7 mill max by the end of the year. Its only at 2 mill last year.

Bones has made some flops in the recent years. I think ppl are valuing the 5 pm timeslot too much
