The question- Also, though I can't say men are inherently better at making jokes, I must say, I find women comedians cringe-y and in general throughout my life, I have laughed more at the expense of men rather than women. Anyway, is there like, some science to this? Surely, I can't be the only one who thinks this way(I mean, I know I'm not but humility and stuff) |

It depends on the person honestly, though I'd have to say that I do find men to be a lot more funny than women. |

I think part of it is men tend to be "the class clown", and are just typically the ones using humor the most. It might be that its because men use humor to attract women, which gives them a hell of a lot more incentive. There are funny women comedians, they just are few and far between. |

It's not a matter of gender but about how the person is. I've found both men/women cringy and funny. |

I don't find any women comedians funny, I can't explain why but there must be a reason. When not on a stage I think they can be quite funny. They have their moments anyway. |

there's been one or two women that have been funny and more in real life but generally male comedians i find funnier. A lot of female comedians use gender or the fact that they're women as their whole comedy routine or try too hard to replicate similar male comedians instead of just doing their own thing. A lot of female comedians its less just been funny and more "hey guys look at me im a girl whose been really funny right bet you never thought you'd see a funny girl" |

idk if it's a society thing but i think that comedian or even friends are funnier if they're men. i've always liked men's company more than women's; my bff was a men and mostly because i like funny persons. yeah, i think men usually are most funny than women. i think it's because men don't give a shit if they're being ridiculous, while women always try to look... hm, "clean" (not all, but the majority). also i think men have more freedom to make some jokes that women can't, idk... |

They certainly hold their own in just a casual situation, men just seem to own the professional end....which i guess is kind of predictable when I think about it for more then two seconds. There have been a few big female comedians just from my generation, so i'm sure that will increase. |

Depends on the place i guess. During my college years, most female stand ups were absolutely crass and nuts, they never hesitated to openly throw racist stereotypes (particularly chinese and arabs) and didn't mind using foul words or sex jokes to quickly get the reactions from audience. I still remembered how i laughed my ass off when one said woman unashamedly performed sex positions all by herself while moaning like mad and lamented how her boyfriend sucked at that. |

Perhaps women don't have an evolutionary need to be funny. It is an age old statement that women like funny men, so that has to have some truth to back it up. |

If you go around tallying up every individual person you interact with on a chalk board who you find humorous, in order to determine statistically if you do indeed find individuals under the category of "male" or "female" as funnier than the other category, you are probably fucking psychotic. And unless you have some sort of statistically significant data to back up your claims, anything you have to say about which group of extensive numbers of people you have never interacted with is "funnier", is utterly irrelevant, and to give your erroneous conclusions any practical weight would be completely insane. |

Yeah sure...but thats not what you said. You said you don't find men or women funny. Individuals are still men and women. If you find individuals funny unless they're a third gender you find men and women funny. |

It's a shame mal does this, it has potential for an interesting thread. |
