| Recently, I've come across this topic a lot while searching the internet and I've been wondering is YuYu Hakusho really better than DBZ? And when I say better I mean: * Characters (Main cast) * Writing * Quality * Story Arcs * Character Development |

| ? I hope you're baiting op. dbz is god awful even to people with nostalgia goggles on. There's nothing that could make it even comparable to yyh. a shame dbz made it bigger into mainstream though, a real shame. |

| Before this gets taken down, YuYuHakusho is better in most every way. Better pace, better characters, story pays off better in the end, Dragonball still has some nice arcs outside the fighting tournaments but DBZ is much weaker. |

| Yu Yu Hakusho had a more interesting plot initially (until the demon world arc, I'd say). Dragon Ball was interesting, but after Z, it was cut and dry; new baddie appears, people gotta power up and defeat it. |

| comparing the mangas: kid goku DB = YYH > adult goku DB which for me means anime: DB = YYH > DBZ early DB and YYH are not the same, but they're both equally enjoyable, at least they have a story and are not all about powering up (even if YYH toward the end falls for it too) Yomiyuki said: a shame dbz made it bigger into mainstream though, a real shame. The problem is of course the pacing. It's better in these aspects maybe, though I should really rewatch YYH sometime. Kai is most certainly better though, but the original and YYH is a harder question. Now, I don't remember YYH being too bad, but even than non-Kai DB is probably still better. YYH wasn't particularly outstanding, and it doesn't really matter which is better. Their both on the same level, again, not counting Kai, or the manga. Which, unless I have a drastic epiphany on re-watch/re-read is almost certainly magnitudes better. |

| Sometimes I can't even believe that I read what some people write here in MAL. Obviously without contest Dragon Ball(all of the series) is way better than Yu Yu Hakusho in all of those aspects. |
