I would not say it completely ruins it,but it certainly makes it somewhat worse.

If it's a badly written ending with no thought went into it, yes it drops the score quite a lot. But I don't ever not like a series because the bad guys won or the character I like died at the end.

It disappoints me in the end, but if I enjoyed anime until then, then it doesn't affect me that much. I think ending would have to be extremely horrible to ruin whole anime for me.

This. I can't think of any anime ending bad enough that it ruined the show for me.

Would really ruin it if anything can't be discussed because you have it set to not receive messages in response.

For me not really.but i guess for most people, its like this:your getting a blowjob from your girlfriend and just when youre about to climax, she bites your dick in half and swallows it,leaving u screaming WHY!?!?!?!?! In immese pain

It can. Though it depends on what type of anime it is. If it's an anime following the school life of a couple of highschool girls it really won't affect it much. But if it's an anime where the whole point of the anime is in the end, some goal or something, or if it's more focused on it's plot then yeah. It can affect it a lot.

Basically what I'm saying is that it's easier to forgive a bad ending on a comedy anime or some other short and light anime then it is a heavy plot focused anime, specifically ones where it's all leading up to one thing.

It does most of the time since it has the biggest impact on the viewer. But if you were to look at a show as a whole and not by its ending then it's a different story.

Take for example Hitsugi no Chaika. It was a pretty consistent show, nothing special but not bad either. It's ending was shit but did it ruin the show? Maybe it did for some people but for me, I'm heavily biased with Hitsugi no Chaika because I enjoyed the first season a lot, it didn't. In the end, it all depends on how the viewers see the anime.

YES. The ending is a dealbreaker. It could make a stellar show flop. For instance, NGE was amazing... until that ending. What was that. And I love Shiki, but it would have been a 10 if it hadn't been for the ending.
It goes the other way too; Gunslinger Girl is pretty average, but I love it's ending so that made me enjoy it a lot more.

It didn't ruin the entire show, but the ending dropped my ranking of Deadman Wonderland a little bit.

NGE was just alright, the ending is what made it amazing. Both episodes 25+26 and End of Evangelion were great, don't see how that was a bad ending.

Bad endings like Corpse Party is just a big no-no to me. Like, why they took if theres the true ending route?

Idfk, the corpse party was shit, especially the ending. The ending in the game almost made me cry and they changed it!

really depends on how bad the show was or how bad the ending was

average show with a terrible ending will ruin the show like akame ga kill

on the other hand some endings really make shows

Asura's defeat was funny. I was laughing all the time of how ridiculous was the final.

Too rushed, I would love they made a remade now that the manga is over.

I think it was explained a bit or maybe I'm just looking too deep on that scene. Asura thrives on fear and madness and thus cannot understand the concept of courage. All his previous enemies, although they fought valiantly, were still afraid of him deep down. That's why Maka easily beat him with a punch because she gathered all her courage and wasn't afraid anymore hence why Asura acted like a baby when Maka was coming towards him. Pretty bullshit if you ask me but it kinda makes sense somehow in a shitty way.

Has a bit of sense, but it still crap. I mean, the problem isn't Asura's breakdown or that his weakness was the courage (who is pretty ridiculous itself), is that Maka defeat him of a mere punch. I mean, I don't mind if she defeat him after a super special attack, but he was defeated by a single punch.

Then again, Asura was funny during his defeat, so at least the ending has a redemptive quality.

for me.. the problem of the end of soul eater is that it is boring (a fight between maka against an evil without any emotion, that i already knew she would win)

but i forgive the disastrous ending, it is still good overall

Can you say the same for every other battle anime out there? Because protagonists win 99% of the time so I think your reason is rather shallow.

Pretty much, but it tends to be interesting and exciting so at least is worth it.

It actually depends on the ending itself. Lets take these 2 as example:
*Guilty Crown - many people complain about the ending but I personally see it as one of those symbolic endings which you can understand if you pay attention.
*Aldnoah Zero - to tell the truth I truly enjoyed it, but last 3 episodes totally ruined it for me...

Sometimes a terrible ending from a thematic standpoint can be emotionally satisfying e.g: Clannad: AS, Steins;Gate. Either way, it's disappointing but usually not to the point that it 'ruins the whole show'.

If it was good/great through-out except for the ending, then no - although the score wouldn't be as high as I thought it'd intially be. But, if the anime was so-so/average then yes, it would ruin the whole show for me, because I was giving it a chance to redeem itself.

For the most part, yes
The ending is THE conclusion, the wrap-up, the last thing you see. If it leaves such a terrible taste in my mouth compared to the earlier parts of the series, I can't help but see the series in a new, shitty, light.

It definitely can.

Whether It actually ruins it depends on how far out of left field the ending came and whether it undermines the rest of the show or not though.
