I still don't understand why Shirou says he has never been in atletism club, but Rin remember seeing him while doing atletism (this is shown in the episode where Rin transfer his magic seal to Shirou). I don't understand the importance of this scene, or why there is that remark in the last episode. Could some LN reader explain me this? I don't mind spoilers.

He wasn't in the track team, he just did it. It's significant to Rin since that's the first time she saw him and he was very different from herself.

King Waver ftw

And who was that guy Shirou said he kept running into?

These threads are amusing as usual.

Weird final episode. I never cared to see the stuff in London, but this did make for a good conclusion I suppose. It started to make me worry that they weren't going to animate the cute scene where Rin asks if Shiro wants to come with her though .-. I generally prefer anime adaptations over a lot of reading, but this is one case where the anime was actually lackluster for me. Oh well time to go finally read HF...tomorrow or something.

Fate/Zero may have had more consistent storytelling than UBW but that doesn't save it from ultimately playing out like you're watching a drab History Channel special rather than a proper entertainment piece.

I will choose what is a proper entertainment piece for myself, thank you very much.

Its because they removed a line in prologue where Rin, when seeing Shirou dying int hat hallway after Lancer's attack, remembers watching Shirou try (and repeatedly fail) at high jumps, which causes her to save him.

Its pretty much has to do with Rin's worldview and how Shirou is affecting it, but since anime decided to just randomly skip all of that, won't bother explaining.

Am I the only one who was utterly disappointed by the OST? Aside from Emiya and 1-2 piano tracks, I found the OST to be so damn forgettable. One of the main reasons why I love Fate/Zero so much is because the soundtrack set up the atmosphere for every scene, while here it was nowhere near the same.

I felt the VN ending was better because it was bittersweet. There wasn't enough of Archer in the anime's epilogue. That change to have Archer's answer in the Archer vs Shirou fight instead of showing it in the end, took away the climax of the fight and the bittersweet aspect of the epilogue.

If anything, the anime ending was TOO bittersweet.

"Oh look Rin and Shirou will be together.....oh hi luvia"
"Oh look RIn and Shirou face unknown future...oh wait we actually see it"
"oh look Shirou won't walk the same path...maybe"
"Oh look Shirou and Rin happy together...oh wait they separate for no reason because separations are cool"

Literally meh episode that cheapens the strength of relationship and of the POINT of the ending(them facing the unknown future after graduation together with Shirou living a far healthier life than Archer-Shirou did).

Based Kenji Kawai.

Although to ufotable's credit, I think they did a little better with the Emiya remixes specifically. Kenji's was a pretty straight and plain rendition.

Mediocre ending, but as others have remarked, I still think it's better than F/Z's ending. Overall the series was fine (hence my 6 rating), but it certainly lacked in more than a few areas for me personally (characters, though Archer was a cool one, were below average imo, and as a battle royale story it wasn't very exciting or nearly as good as F/Z).

Yes, I'm not sure what that lasts scenes really mean. They made me think Shirou followed Archer's path and is going to repeat his mistakes and suffering. Before watching that part I thought he was going to follow his ideals and find a way not to become like Archer.

(Desert scene)
After the end credits. A desert scene, same as the opening.
Shirou walks alone. His strength falters and he stops walking.
Shirou looks down to shield his eyes from the sandstorm, and sees traces of someone else having been there (the place where Archer stopped).
Shirou breathes out and raises his head. There’s fake endurance in his expression, but it’s full of hope.
Shirou walks away with a steady gait.
The camera lingers on the traces of Archer’s presence, and watches Shirou leave as the shot ends.
(If you want to make it easier to understand, after Shirou leaves, you can add Archer appearing in that spot and watching him go… but I think you shouldn’t.)

This episode was pretty bad. It was a waste of time and consisted of little substance. Obviously as it's an epilogue, I wasn't really expecting too much (and that's already on top of my record low expectations for this show overall), but at the very least I had hoped to see decent closure. Certainly there was a lot of talking and character interaction, but none of them really felt as if they had any meaning due to how superfluous the conversation topics were. The time that was spent focusing on Luvia and the boring talks between Shirou and Rin should have instead been devoted toward the conversation from Shirou and the mage with the long black hair as it had actually began to show depth until it abruptly ended.

Rin is much less annoying in this episode, but it's still disheartening to see her continue her forced romance with Shirou due to him being the main character. Shirou still clings on to his foolish ideals and is destined to live his life as a naive fool who doesn't listen to reason.

Should i get myself into this one?...I guess I shall

Fate/Zero also suffers from several of those problems though so idk what you're talking about

Of course it does. Even Shakespeare can't make a good piece of art if it's a derivative of a lame porn game.

Pretty fucking sad isn't it? Ufo clearly demonstrates that they still know good choreography after all, they just choose to use it on anime-original bullshit instead of the fights that actually matter. That's what pissed me off more than anything while watching that fight.

That is exactly what I'm asking myself. May be Kokutou Mikiya from Kara no Kyoukai or somebody who just (in Shirou's eyes) resembles Issei.

Overall, I was content with this adaption, it was just as I expected it to be, with some extra material in it. Normally I would rate it with 8, but as big fan of VN I just can not do that :) Now waiting for HF which I expect to be much better adaption.

I totally forgot about Waver. Last episode was pretty good. It's still weird for Shirou to be Archer when it wasn't like that at all in the original one. There was still more good things than bad, so 9/10 for me.

Fate Shirou isn't Archer. Nor does he walk Archer's path.

Why is it so hard for you to understand?

Nasu already said that the footprints were made by UBW Shirou who was following Archer's foot prints until they stopped and UBW Shirou continued. ._.

Fate Shirou walks archer's path without regret and without stopping, following the ideal blindly without looking back or stopping, till death stops him.
UBW Shirou forges his own, far healthier path instead of lingering in the contradictory abyss archer was in.
