| I'm curious to hear the opinions of other users on the topic of men crying, from the perspective of any gender of course. Do you cry openly, regardless of time or place? Do you cry behind closed doors, with no one around? Do you only cry to those who are close to you? Do you only cry to a specific person? Do you hold it all back, and let it all build in to then let it all out in big bursts? Maybe you just don't cry at all, swallow the pain and bear it all. What reasons are behind when you cried or why you do not cry? As for me personally, I have been raised with the inclination that men do not cry. I say raised but it was not intentional as I have witnessed many close people to me cry of which whom I would assume never cried. I just tend to take it all on the chin and build it all up inside. So perhaps I'm on the verge of a mental breakdown, who knows. Anyway, this is what inspired me to make this thread and ask on the thoughts and opinions of you guys (lol, MAL). |

| I don't rly have a specific person i can cry to. I don't hold it back i release evrything. I may have a break down once in a rly long while though and it's not something i want anyone to see. When i cry i just do it alone so no one has to see me. |

| I've cried in public before or at least teared up. Haven't done it often though but that's more because I don't really have a reason to cry than holding it back to preserve my man card. The last time I remember really crying was about a year and a half ago when I was hanging out with 2 of my friends. We were drinking... a lot.. I blacked out and woke up sobbing, like couldn't even catch my breath or say anything because I was crying so hard but don't know why I was crying, it was really confusing. Had a good laugh about it with them for a while after that. |

I hold it back all the time. I don't let it out in one big burst. I just let it go when I feel I need to. Maybe you just don't cry at all, swallow the pain and bear it all. What reasons are behind when you cried or why you do not cry? I prefer only crying when I have to. Always typically behind closed doors. It's easier for me to not show anyone. I always leap to the throat of someone treating someone in an unfair way, doesn't matter if it's someone important to me or not. Death of family members I guess is it, and once over a break-up (my longest relationship which was 2 years) I do respond to tear-jerkers in media/entertainment sometimes, most reliably visual novels, and a few anime, and one live action movie. As for physical pain, I've never cried, I have after dozens of examples learned I have an insane physical pain tolerance, and my worst injury (triple-location broken jaw, concussion, 80% of my teeth flying through my face) actually made me laugh, not cry. |

Though, that is not to say crying has to be seen as feminine, necessarily. Holding it all in isn't always the best in my opinoin. I feel it's good to either write it all down. Express it through visual art, music, what have you. Or simply confiding in someone close enough for you trust. Though, this isn't always easily, I feel. |

With that said I personally have not cried in god knows how long, not sure why, maybe my life is too uneventful for any reason for tears to appear, or im just really disconnected mentally; either way they just stopped coming in the teens :P |

If im upset i only let friends know. I hide it from my family.
