Besides, HxH fan is loves Naruto, he just can't be judals because of that Apparently he's some guy called Wollowizard, sad thing is......he really takes himself seriously |

Sad to see so many people say they avoid an anime because it has too many episodes, but yeah I can understand because it takes a lot of time and it may not seem worth it but IMO long-running series give me something that short anime can't, it's like a feeling that it's really close to you. You know the characters through and through, you care for them so much(if you like them ofcourse), and it's just awesome to see your character grow and grow (though it might be slow). |

It's not just the length of OP that's off putting for me. It's the ugly as sin character designs. But somewhere deep down, I feel that it likely has better story/writing than other Shounen. However I haven't given it a single episode or chapter. I just.. really hate ugly things. |

But if you think I am wrong about the childish element you can convince me you don't have to criticize my tastes, each person has different anyways. The problem is that "childish atmosphere" really doesn't say anything informative, it's by itself an element of evaluation due to the negative connotations given to the word "childish". If by "childish atmosphere" for instance you refer to the lighthearted absurd and over-the-top cartoonized traits, then you are talking about inherent flaws due to the show's choices and premises, then there is no way this discussion can progress at this point of essential disagreement. You are basically telling me that the show is puerile from its very conception. What counterexample should I give to that? Oh, and please don't bash One Piece fans "in general". You attacking a fandom doesn't help on your points and some of us are getting honestly sick of seeing how every discussion on this show is contaminated by parallel and uncalled judgements instead of focusing on content. |

There are also people who think Hunter x Hunter (2011) looks childish, and are reluctant to watch it. EDIT: I never had a problem with One Piece's artstyle. There are worse looking shows out there. Detective Conan looks worse IMO, but I've gotten used to the artstyle. Cross Game on the other hand, I can't stand the artstyle, and I might drop the show. |

Whats actually funny is that a lot of fans of that show admit that the bulk of the show .the actual story,is like 50-60 episodes in total. So yeah watch 700+ episodes for a story that takes like 10% of all of it. Ill just never understand how it managed to get popular (manga and anime) and air for such a long time. |

I could say the same for even longer works (Doraemon, Sazae whatever) which are even less well written and more episodic. But yeah, Conan only has less than 100 episodes where the main story takes place. The rest is either a mediocre mystery, a decent one, or spectacular one. Little girl mahou shoujo anime(I prefer mahou shoujo like Witch Craft Works with a mature female MC and no sparkles and stuff like that) , Idol Anime, Madoka Magica ( I know beforehand that it disguises itself as another mahou shoujo anime and then gets dark so the shock value will have no affect on me), anime with tsundere little girl characters as main characters like Zero no Tsukaima, Shakugan no Shana (I hate violent tsunderes and I'm not a fan of lolis so combining the two would be the absolute worst for me), Dogs and Scissors (looks like some kind of degrading masochist anime), MM! From what I've seen most people don't enjoy sports anime (Kuroko no Basket being a particularly large exception). For me personally, I would say it's my favorite genre. A large part of that is probably because I actually like all sports, and I like the feeling of competitiveness. But the other part is that watching (most) sports anime, gives me a great feeling of motivation to try harder in my own life instead of just sitting back and doing nothing. I think that 2nd part is important (and character attachment of course) especially to me, because I find watch real-life sports on TV boring. |
