It's usually treated as a lighthearted joke that only a niche group of self inserts or open minded individuals will appreciate. Koi Kaze is probably the best incest anime I've come across because it raises the issue of incest and tells a story that challenges the taboo in a sensible and respectable way. If more anime took the serious approach instead of "Onii-chan daisuke!!!" harems, then it probably would get taken seriously in storytelling. Oh but don't get me wrong, incest in anime is aight, otaku pandering or not. Because it's fiction, people need to stop picking and choosing morality. "Hurrr incest wrong n bad! It's certainly more blatant, but I mean if you want to talk ratios… After all, if you want some real-life examples of "strong family bonding", you might be better off looking in other areas of the world. | Nothing wrong with incest. If you lose sleep over incestous cartoon characters, just pretend they're not actually related or watch anime that doesn't portray incest. Incest doesn't necessarily have to be a thing in Japan for them to actively use it in their entertainment. Not like aliens are a thing in the US, yet they make a whole lot of movies about it. As to why it's a thing. It's because people have fetishes and especially things that are otherwise taboo, becomes popular in fiction. Whether you like it or not, incest is actually one of the more popular "taboo" fetishes. |
