Jealous and selfish Yuu was cute :) and her sister, Mitsuki-kaichou reminds me Ayano from Yuru Yuri. They have the same seiyuu and common personality.Hope we'll see her more in the other episodes.
These kisses were bolder than before's.

Two days ago, they released the box cover illustration for Volume 1 of the Blu-ray /
DVD which goes on sale on March 19th. You can see it at these two places:
http://www.tbs.co.jp/anime/sakura/disc/
https://twitter.com/sakuratrick_pr/status/432869301637218304/photo/1

On Amazon Stalker, Blu-ray 1862 and DVD 422, for a total of 2284 "points". That is
slightly up from the last time I checked.

Access Amazon Stalker here: http://www27392u.sakura.ne.jp/index2.cgi?sort=rankup

That cover art is by Kyuuta Sakai (坂井久太), who did all of the character designs
for the series. This same person did the character designs for Strawberry Panic and
Ichigo Mashimaro. Frankly, I think that the character designs are all awesome.

about bra cup sizes in Japan in your Post #103. Clearly, my information was way
out of date.

I am learning, but slowly. Fortunately, lots of other people have been posting
comments that shed much more insight. It was only recently that I even learned
how to access the Amazon Stalker numbers, let alone interpret them. I know
there are other measures of the popularity of an anime series, such as MAL
ratings.

For those of you who are holding your breath waiting for Episode 6, you are
going to have to wait 10 minutes longer than usual. Normally, they broadcast
the episode at 1:58 am, but tomorrow it will be at 2:08 am, Tokyo Time.
This was announced on the official Twitter account just a few minutes ago. No
explanation was given.

MAL ratings are utterly meaningless. Nobody on MAL is buying anime. At least not enough people to make a significant contribution. Only the Japanese market is what county.

Amazon Stalker Points are a dangerous way to make specific predictions. They are usually good to get a general direction. Like if an Anime is going to totally flop or do very well. Anything else is just guess work. It gets more complicated with Anime like Sakura Trick that does very well in other shops. It has been in Gamers TOp 10 for weeks. Which is pretty strong. But we can't get any good numbers from Gamers till we have the official sales numbers.

Thanks. I was unaware of the existence of the Gamers Top 10 list. Just now I
did a little Googling and failed to find it. But I'm glad to hear that Sakura Trick is
consistently on it.

I accept your point that MAL ratings are unrelated to sales of Blu-rays, DVDs and
licensed merchandise, since surely the vast majority of expenditure is in Japan. I
am only interested in the way that money earned will affect future business
decisions of anime studios who might produce more Yuri anime series, at least for
this present discussion.

My experience with Amazon Stalker numbers is based on a few dozen anime series.
I know roughly how to tell "crash and burn" from "runaway hit". Indeed, Amazon
Stalker does not reflect all of the income. In the absence of additional information,
I base my guesses on Amazon Stalker, and I freely admit that I am making guesses.

At this point, Sakura Trick seems to be in the grey area. It is not "crash and burn".
It is not a "runaway hit".

From a business point of view, Sakura Trick is a compromise, since they chose to
combine Central-element Yuri with Yonkoma and of course it is CGDCT. What we
are seeing as a fundamental problem is that there is a split fanbase:

(1) Some fans want to see an actual Yuri story with some kind of plot and
character development. Also, these same people tend to be turned off by the
heavy fanservice of Sakura Trick, even if Sakura Trick has not crossed the line
into technical Ecchi (i.e. no panty shots).

(2) Other fans like the CGDCT. The heavy fanservice goes along fairly well with
CGDCT, particularly if there is no issue with Ecchi. Yet this type of fan might not
have the patience to see a serious Yuri story told. They are basically counting
the kisses, and thinking that kisses equal Yuri.

Sakura Trick tries to win both (1) and (2), and my reading of the Amazon Stalker
numbers is that Sakura Trick has failed to achieve runaway success. To a great
extent, my thinking is based on MAL comments, but of course it is much more
important to know what is going on in the minds of fans in Japan.

Given the divided fanbase, Sakura Trick seems to be a failed experiment. Why
bother even trying to be Central-element Yuri? The path to success is very well
known and it is Yuru Yuri. In Yuru Yuri, they had "Secondary-element Yuri"
along with CGDCT. It was a fantastic series, ran for two seasons and was a
huge hit. in fact, Yuru Yuri was a pioneer in that it was the first 100% CGDCT
series, and it spawned the huge trend of 100% CGDCT that has followed in
its footsteps. Also, basically all of those 100% CGDCT series have Yuri jokes
or Yuri subtext if you look. Want to make money? 100% CGDCT + Secondary-
element Yuri.

As for Central-element Yuri that is aimed at hardcore Yuri fans, I see no market
for it. The heyday of Central-element Yuri followed Maria-sama ga Miteru (2004)
including its four seasons. Most people here seem to agree that Aoi Hana (2009)
and Sasameki Koto (2009) were good Central-element Yuri, but they just were
not quite commercially viable enough. Sasameki Koko was the worse of the two.

Why the end of Yuri? Traditional Yuri, which goes back a century, depended a
lot on angst, social stigma, family rejection, internal struggle and tragedy. But
this is 2014. Quite a lot of this has disappeared from the world between 2009
and 2014. So in 2014, a Yuri romantic story is not qualitatively different from
a male-female romantic story.

For those of you who love the Yuri genre, you have a century of novels, forty
years of manga and dozens of anime series. So . . . enjoy.

But what kind of hardcore Yuri fans? I am a hardcore Yuri fan myself but i am not interested in a drama and angst filled anime. Those stories are boring. 99% suffering, maybe one kiss in the last chapter and end. There are reasons why 'serious' yuri failed in the past.

My impression is, people enjoy light hearted yuri like Sakura Trick more then the drama filled so called 'realistic' yuri.

Yuri is not at the end, it seems to be starting again with Sakura Trick leading the way (heavy subtext has been with us since Madoka). Sakura Trick is probably a success. With Manga sales going up, Merch stuff seeming to sell decently and the BD will probably do well too. Of course it wont sell 10k but it does not have to.

I love Maria-sama ga Miteru, but I am not the hardcoriest of hardcore Yuri fans.

However, by luck, I came across an interesting blog which includes a review of
Sakura Trick along with a lot of comments. These people appear to be serious
and well-informed. The consensus seems to be that Sakura Trick may well be
one of the best Yuri anime series of all time, second only to Strawberry Panic!
(2006). It scored 9/10 for its Yuri component.

They are certainly complaining about the excessive fanservice for which it got
9/10 (i.e. way too much). One person commented that, "The service levels were
ridiculous nonsense." Another wrote "the constant 'chest cam' shots especially
annoyed me. At least show their faces, for heaven’s sake."

The lengthy final comment predicted that Sakura Trick "will remain underground –
treasured by the most avant-garde among intellectuals for its depth of insight into
the fundaments of sexuality. . . It takes wisdom to appreciate its subtleties." It
has "depth and complexity" and "explores the darkest depths of our consciousness
which borders between flesh and mind."

Well i wouldn't give too much to any review on this website or the comments. It is just a very, very small portion of the western fanbase. And it does not say anything about Japanese fans.

/a/ seems to love Sakura Trick more then horrible yuri anime like Strawberry Panic! (which is pretty bad in my opinion).

Great episode.

We see a lot of Yuu acting needy toward Haruka this episode. It's a huge change from when she would be embarrassed and shy away from Haruka's approaches in earlier episodes.

Despite how Yuu isn't as vocal about it, she cares just as much, if not more about Haruka. That's why I loved the part where Yuu cut in just as Haruka was going for the kiss.

What Haruka did or was about to do is disagreeable, yes, but I think she just doesn't know better.

Then we see Yuu initiating the kiss at the end. Stand alone, it seems to come out of nowhere but when linked to the previous scene, it makes sense given the insecurities Yuu is probably feeling at that moment.

Big boobs combo Haruka and Mitsuki and I want them to kiss each other. Sometimes I feel that Haruka should kiss a guy in this show but Since this is Yuri, cant be granted. Imagine if Yuu is a guy, that would bring different taste to this show.

How do their friends not realize? The whimpering "Harukua!" and "Yuu", they're so devoted to each other. I think it started out "we're good friends" and now it's "kiss me harder, Haruka".

When do they start to realize that they're pretty much dating/in a relationship and when do their friends become aware of it?

I have some mixed feelings about this anime so far

Firstly, it's really adorable, I'm enjoying it a lot, I can't stop watching it :D

But it's still a little bit strange. Those random boob or thigh shots are weird, and somehow the kiss scenes too.

I mean, why exactly are they kissing? It's not like they are dating or anything.

Obviously they love each other, these kisses are more than just something to make their friendship special, it's just that they don't seem to realize it themselves. But they are clearly enjoying kissing a lot, and they both want it a lot.

Also, these kisses would be cute, and are cute actually, but the sound they are making make these scenes kinda erotic I would say

Well, these were only strange in the first like 2 episodes, I'm getting used to it now :D

But that kiss at the end though, how does no-one even look there when they are screaming? 😅 and they just start kissing while surrounded by classmates. Brave girls, brave

That fan service at the end is gold, 10/10 for that 😂
