So which one do you prefer? To marathon an anime or wait for it weekly? Is the impact much stronger if you marathon it? Or does the suspense build up waiting for it weekly?

I don't have the patience needed to watch most things weekly, they've gotta be stuff I'm really, really interested in. So most of the time I just go the marathon route.

I also don't like to watch an episode weekly.
Just waiting and then downloading all episodes with good subs is the ways to go for me.

I like to limit myself to 10 ongoing, and 10 not-ongoing anime.
A good series will be good, regardless of how you watch it.

If i find a anime that is realy good and ends each episode where you cant wait for the next ep i usualy watch as much of it as possible for example i finished SAO in two nights because i realy liked it. But when i finished it took me a while to get back in to other anime.

Watching weekly really allows you to not get burnt out easily while marathoning has a bigger Impact I feel. I could care less which but I tend to marathon if possible. I can wait however and don't mind weekly showings. Except HxH, I wish I could watch that consistently with like 5-10 episodes a day.

O Truth-seeker, child of Man! This pertinent, time-honoured question has a manifold answer that I shall hope to shed some morsel of light upon!

While one should view all anime as one wishes, it must be known that the True and Sacred; the Ultimate Wonder of TooDee, can only be experienced in the following way:

The Fivefold Steps of Holy Immersion

1) View as soon as time permits.
This allows man to first gain taste of the juices within.
2) As each segment is issued forth, one should revise, and re-experience the whole that has come.
This allows man to develop a well-founded and growing connection with the Sacred Textp
3) With the whole reveal of a sacred text, one must run through this Perfected Being from the head to toe, in all forms, in all ways.
At this point, one has seen the whole in varied ways. This is the first step towards understanding. By this time, blessed disciple should take time to meditate and discuss the teachings that have been shared by these Wondrous Works.
4) Engage in true body and ray of sight.
There are numerous ways in which one must engage their body, and mind with sight. Firstly, there is the 'whole'. In taking a whole, one aims to recreate the body which was the full. This can be done in staggered steps, or complete attunement marathon.
Secondly, there is the directed teachings. In this method, one can either consume a full segment, or focus upon single moments. This allows for a specific and more thorough understanding of the Ways that Are.

5) Lastly, return from full to empty; thought to silence; heart to mind.
This is the final form that a true Master of the Way will reach. Here they will in permenance, embrace the fullness and the forgotten. They will remember all, know everything, and be truly enlightened.

I hope this has enlightened you in some way on the matter of marathon or week.

I would say that waiting weekly for an anime does build suspense/hype to waiting for the next one, but really it only lasts for a couple of days for me. After those days it just becomes a bore fest to wait for the coming Thursday.

Watching episode after episode keeps the story fresh in my mind and builds the need to keep on watching. With that said I don't mind either.

As for the OP, marathon is the way to go. If you enjoyed a series why not keep yourself in the flow/mood of the anime? You'll finish it one day of another. Waiting or watching 1 episode each week wou rip me out of the anime's story line every time...

If I don't feel irritated about waiting one week for an episode of an anime, chances are that the anime isn't good enough is quite high...

It can be nice to have a new episode to look forward to weekly. Also watching a show weekly helps me remember more details about the anime compared to when I marathon because things start to blend together during a marathon.
With that said, usually I'll marathon it if the show as long as its done and can keep my interest long enough. Weekly viewing is only reserved for shows that are currently airing otherwise my viewing can be rather sporadic.

This has been asked so many times.
I'll stick with my answer, I tend to marathon as I want to stay into a story and not wait weekly if someone (f.e.) is going to die or not ^^

The only anime I HAVE to watch weekly now is One Piece, and soon Naruto Ship.

If it's an anime that i feel like it wasting my 23 minutes of my day, so i wait it completed and marathoned it

I try to wait until I can marathon a show, but the force is weak with me. I find that I can hold out better for shows that run 24+ episodes but the 12 episode seasons are like crack. Still, weekly isn't too bad for shows that aren't too plot driven though.

Both. I prefer watching "episodic" anime on a weekly basis (if they're ongoing) and those with an ongoing plot are better marathoned in most cases. But I like doing both, doesn't really matter to me.

Marathon, although lately I've just ended up watching like 3-4 episodes a day. It's still better than watching 3-4 episodes from different series a day though.

I think a lot of people including me do both. I always watch 7 to 12 ongoing shows (unless the season sucks and I can't find much I'm interested in) and then I'll have 1 or 2 shows I'm watching that have finished airing so I can marathon those if I get the time.

I think its nice to watch shows on a weekly basis. Also, It's not time consuming if you watch 14 or less currently airing shows (comes down to average 2 episodes a day, under 1 hr a day). Some days I end up having more time on my hands, so those days I'll watch one of my finished airing shows too.

Weekly for me. The allure of some shows is simply too strong for me to ignore. Kill la Kill and Golden Time are good examples of this. Usually though, by the time I get to seeing certain shows I only heard of years before or discovered recently, they are well past their airing date, so sometimes I will partake in a binge if the show is worth it.

For me, it varies. I marathon some series, watch others in mini-marathons of three or four episodes at a time, watch others (particularly currently airing ones) weekly, and watch others sporadically and erratically. It depends on the type of series and my mood on a particular day. This goes for all types of serialized programming - not just anime.

Here are some recent examples. I watch Kagaku Ninjatai Gatchaman erratically because it has a dosage limit and I have to be in the right mood for it. I watched School Rumble erratically as well, but in this case, I wanted to drag it out because I enjoyed it and didn't want it to be over too soon. The same goes for Mnemosyne. I'm watching Sakura Trick weekly because it is currently airing; if all episodes were available, I would probably mini-marathon it. I've been watching Aria, Nichijou, and Azumanga Daioh in mini-marathons of two to four episodes at a time because it is hard to watch just one. I recently did a marathon rewatch of Excel Saga because I wanted to immerse myself in its craziness.

It's the same enjoyment just either condensed into a few days/weeks or stretched out over a few months/years. Both have their pros and cons, it just depends on the mood and series.
I probably regret this post by now.

Sometimes the impact is stronger when you're watching on the weekly basis for some series.
When something intense happens you are left hanging on for a week in a state of "what's going to happen now?" and it makes the viewing experience better than when you can just click onto the next episode.
At least for me.

I definitely like marathoning better, unless the series is so popular that I want to discuss the episodes as they come out (e.g. Kill la Kill right now). But normally I like waiting 3-4 weeks and then watch a month's worth of episodes at once.

I used to think that marathoning is the only way to go, but now.. The anticipation you feel when desperately waiting for a new episode of KlK to come is quite enjoyable.

That being said, eventhough I liked Golden Time I just couldnt stand those weekly waits. So for some series marathoning really seems to be the way for victory.
