Everybody here loves animes obviously, but we also dislike some stuff about them, what bothers you the most in animes?

I hate it when the character is dying, they have all those sad music playing and flashbacks & stuff, make you cry, but in the end they still survive. Some people might love it, because their favorite character survives, but I don't like it, it makes me feel dumb, like I cried for nothing. If you're gonna make me cry, you should at least kill the character.

I hate it when anime characters use English words (in original Japanese dub) with Japanese accent (like using R, instead of L). It's a torture to hear them doing it, if you can't say it right, don't say it, there are plenty of Japanese words to use.

I hate it when anime characters close their eyes (mostly girls) while talking, it's really awkward.

I know I look like a complaining a**hole, but... technically I am one.

A list of things too long to list and probably ignored by everyone because that's just how listing threads go.

But I'll throw in a few:

  • EVERYTHING WORKS OUT IN THE END BECAUSE WE'RE FRIENDS.
  • WE'RE IN A VERY REALISTIC SETTING, YET BULLSHIT KEEPS HAPPENING TO DEFY THAT SETTING.
  • OH MY FUCKING GOD, MY ANGSTY PROBLEMS ARE MORE IMPORTANT THAN ISSUES THAT THE ENTIRE WORLD HAS TO DEAL WITH ON A DAY TO DAY BASIS.
  • WHY ARE THESE BREASTS IN MY FACE AND WHY IS THIS GIRL SO FLUSTERED BY SOMETHING THAT'S HER FAULT.

-Unecesary fanservice (moe, ecchi, etc)
-That in the end a dead character come to life and in the end we have happy endings
-Protagonist that always cheating up other characters and if a situation is to end in sad or bad end, they have to solve that problem and turn on a happy ending.

Fanservice in an otherwise serious show, (it's ok if it's in an ecchi that you watch just for the lolz or something)
Read the manga endings.
Women are useless without their boyfriend. *coughswordartonlinecough*
Random teenage guy with the personality of a brick getting all the girls.
Time skips
Overly long transformation scenes
Never forget! Don't believe in you who believes in me, don't believe in me who believes in you, believe in you...who believes in yourself!

  • 1) That's not anime specific.
    2) The importance of various problems is subjective. Starving children in Africa mean nothing to me when I have a paper due in thirty minutes. This doesn't diminish the importance of the issue, they're just different problems.

    - The very benevolent hero who wants to help anybody even their ennemies no matter how many dirty tricks they can do on them

    - Uninteresting fillers that come when the story's reaching the climax (Na - ru - to)

    - Headless girls contrasting with great male cast. That's offensive.

    - Incomprehensible endings. Particularly if the anime was shit and still you did your best to watch it until the end.

    - Heap of drama for pointless matters (ef - tale of memories)

    - When comedies fail at their role

Yayy listing thread.. this isn't everything. Just brief stuff off the top of my head~

    - Stuff that's supposed to be funny that does nothing but irritate me

    - Inappropriate fanservice/comedy that fucks up the tone

    - Glaring double standards

    - Overreacting for the sake of "drama"

    - Crying for no reason

    - Rampent immaturity

    - When "perverted" is a character's only distinguishable trait

    - Supposed high school characters who act like 6th graders

    - The ever apparent theme/worshipping of virginity

    - The insult "pervert" and "gross", when nothing perverted or gross has happened

    - Harems (most of the time)

    - Unresolved romance plots

    - Characters who only exist to be a love rival (and doesn't win anyway), and serves no other purpose in the story

    - When the main character isn't the main character (i.e., the audience doesn't/isn't supposed to care about him/her the most)

    - Characters (especially main characters) who are not their own characters, but rather a collage of "reactions". As in, their only characterization, personality, dialogue, and overall presence is simply a collection of reactions to other characters. They do not lead conversations, they react to conversations. They do not take actions that lead the plot, they react to plot devices thrown at them.

    - When masochism is used as an excuse for tsundere/kuudere/whateverthefuckdere behavior, ("I call him a worthless dog, but it's all ok, because he's a masochist.. pervert"), instead of an actual explored and developed character trait regarding their sexuality

    This is probably just me,

But when they have 20 flashbacks and 'sad' music when a character dies,

Only seen few anime where the character dies with no flashback or music. It makes it more realistic and impactful.

    The fans.

    It's definitely a love/hate relationship though.

I enjoy watching the pointless arguments, the obvious things that are pointed out over and over again but acting like you're lil einstein for noticing, and this strange notion of comparing things to each other based on story telling elements that have existed since the beginning of mankind. It's entertaining.

I made this account purely to point that out, I really don't want to actually be involved in it. Otherwise I'd have to hate myself for being that stupid.

    Peace.

This is called an 'elitist' #themoreyouknow
    Anyway, OT:
Typical anime cliches like when characters go into their 'chibi' state. I don't always hate it, but it really bugged me in shows like Fullmetal Alchemist, where the comedy can range from hilarious to downright inappropriate.
Tsunderes, unless they have some degree of depth like Kurisu from Steins Gate, are really just irritating at times. I don't know a single person in real life who is literally a textbook tsundere. I know girls with attitude, yes, but not to the degree that anime makes them.
Fanservice, generic harems, unexplained retarded deus ex machina, lazy writing, the list goes on and on.

Not going to have a random "rant about whatever anime thing bothers you" topic. It's a listing topic and incredibly open-ended. If you have something specific that you want to discuss -- that is, have an interactive discussion -- with other people then make a topic for that.
