So, I was looking at a couple of profiles, and I noticed that some people have seen about 200-300 anime. Where do you guys get the time to do this? I have a ton of anime that I would like to watch, but I never get the time to do so.

I'm a student and surprisingly I don't get a big work load of homework, so I'll sometimes watch anime to simply kill time but I love it a lot! :D I do have a social life though xD

They win at lottery and stay at home watching some animu. If you don't win, then start by ignoring people close to you and don't spent to much time outside. Mmkay. You are probably still in school? Pretend to be sick every 2 weeks to get moar free time.

Seriously, I don't care.

This doesn't apply to me, but I've known folks who back in high school began consuming vast quantities of anime. They were basically doing taht when the rest of us were in scouts, band, sports, etc.

The nice thing about most anime is its typically 20 minutes or s per episode which almost makes it easy enough to watch minus intro/closing credits in an hour if you wanted.

well most anime are only 13-26 episodes. Which would be 2600-5200 episodes of anime. So if you watch an average of 5 episodes a day, which isn't even 2 hours, after a few years you've reached 200 shows.

Well, I started in high school, so I've had plenty of time since then. And pretty much all free time in the army went to gaming or watching something.
And it's even easier when you multitask. Most anime are pretty generic and predictable, so it's not like you have to keep your eyes on the screen all the time. And for those odd moments of boring filler or dragged out but unimpressive fights, you can always fast forward.

I've started watching Anime near the end of my high school time and now its near the end of my college years.
It just basically adds up day after day, either it be one episode a day or 3 episodes a week

That's what I'm wondering too... I really like anime, but I just don't have the time for them anymore (not really, but my schedule is very tight).

Thanks, person who gave me this on another site a long time ago, lol.

Don't have that many anime watched but it's easy, really.
Isolate myself inside my room. Watch anime nonstop. Next day go to school discuss with buddies. Rinse and repeat.
Do take note that I'm in high school so there's plenty of free time.

If you watch animes for more than 10 years, you'll get to that number too. At least that happened to me (but now getting busier, don't have too many free time to watch them anymore) .

I've started watching since I was in junior high. To sum it up, I've watched anime for the past 7 years. But I don't watch every single anime and I have my own preference for the anime I choose to watch.

I would say it's all about time management. I believe in rewarding myself after I've cracked my head or when I've put in lots of effort & hard work in my work & studies, and the way I reward myself is either through watching anime or playing games (given the situation when I don't hang out with my friends & family).

And so.... yeah, eventually, the numbers increase and am intending to increase it further more cause I believe that there are bound to be more good anime that will be released and I've been missing out with some masterpiece anime. I guess that's what keep me motivated in continue watching anime :)

I can easily watch 5 or 6 episodes a day without afecting my social and profissional life! Of course somedays I don't watch at all, and somtimes I can watch an entire 13 episode series on a day-off. As simple as that.

Its the same with movies. When Im in the mood for them I can easily watch 1 or 2 movies without losing sleep hours, missing work or disregarding social life. There is time for everything really.

Also dont forget that some of those lists have a lot of short anime like movies, OVAs and specials.

Well, my good man, life's all about choices. Now, which of these would you want, if you could only choose 1:

-A social life.
-An income.
-Good grades.
-Sleep.
-A long list of completed anime.

That's pretty much how it works. :P

I think it also depends on if the animes you are watching are long or short. A friend of mine has watched much more series than I have yet I have spend more time on it. Her animes are all around 13 episodes as were mine tend to be around at least 60. So that gives me a smaller list, yet I haven't watched less.

Anyway I do admit I don't have a life sometimes xD

Well, when you're a kid you have all the time in the world, I became an anime fan at 10 years old. Then I became an adult, went to Japan.....never bothered watching that much anime. Then I came back to America and had little to no employment for 2 1/2 years (got back into anime). Then I'm now back in Japan for hte last 2 1/2 years and living in Japan just doesn't allow me to watch it again.

Doesn't you have two hours per day for watching anime? I think if you work 8 hours + 2 hours of driving moving losing, 2 more hours for dinner, 8 hours for sleeping, you have 4 hours free, this depend how you manage, if you have social life then not, if you haven't so much then you have the time.

Also there are a lot of people who doesn't work neither study and they have the time to watch 20 episodes and have social life.

But you can watch 5 - 6 animes per day without problem! And weekend more!!

My life simply consists of Anime, K-drama and gaming with a tad of school. Just a tad. I spend my spare time at school watching anyway.

As you can clearly see, I have no social life whatsoever.

Most people have watched anime over a span of many years so the numbers don't actually mean much.

Obviously this isn't always the case as there are people who do actually watch a ton of anime in a relatively short period of time.

Keep in mind MAL's system -- random extra things like Unaired Episode XX, picture dramas, omake episodes, and other short items are counted as separate entries. So it's quite easy to +1 that entry count with the watching time of one or two standard episodes. Plus there are lots of genuinely short OVAs that only have 1-3 episodes.

Everything that connects to MAL

Contains Ecchi, but not Tagged Ecchi: Part 1 || Part 2 || Part 3

You spent almost an year of your life watching anime, not that it's bad or anything but I hope I never reach that amount it would feel like wasted time to me.

. . . and you have no idea just how old I am. ;-) I also have over 16 linear feet of 6 foot tall shelves of literature, history, science fiction and historical fiction that I've read and that's just the favorites I kept. Lots of other books have gone to charity. % wise, it is all relative. Besides how many hours/days do people significantly younger than me have invested in watching Tv in general, and how about hours and hours spent with video games. Again, it's all relative.

I guess I'm included in this. I have a lot of time to watch since university doesn't start till next year also XD. But back to the question. I think it just takes time to accumulate a list of anime since it's highly unlikely to have completed 50+ within a month, unless ur watching it 24/7.

Reading the posts about how much time you all have at university, I'm beginning to wonder if I might be doing something wrong here... I actually startet to watch anime at the same time I went to university, about two years ago. And I just don't have enough time to watch more than one or two episodes every other day ever since.
But granted, I would never skip an episode, fast-forward or multitask during any kind of anime or movie.

It all depends on what you are currently taking and what your priorities are I guess. Anime isn't my top but it is up there with all my others.

Honestly, if you streamline anime into your life its not hard to watch so much.

Luckily my parents are into anime so I watched with family. Join anime club make friends, now your social gatherings are to watch anime series and talk about it. Lastly, being in college naturally gives you more time. Or have a full time job where you can watch it at work (I was working at engineering firm and I watched almost 13 eps season a day) ^^

Also I have this weird habit of anytime I ever eat a meal at home, I must watch an episode of anime while I eat. ~.~ Dunno why, guess otherwise im staring at a wall stuffing my face. (Does anyone else do this?!)

I've been watching anime on and off for 13 years, most of which was seen when I was at 6th form (I'm English) and at university, so of course my numbers build up steadily. Now that I'm working full time I doubt that I'll be watching as much as last year...
