| Loved Nako as the main character. Nako doesn't have to change at all. She's nice the way she is! I still loved her get-up though. Very sekushii! =) That pick-up routine was pretty awful indeed. Yuina has some experience of course, so she saw trough it right away. Poor Nako was startled though! =3 Next week's the festival. I think it'll be a good episode. |

Episode 6 is a great example of that. *sigh* The can of worms here is not her or the way she is, but the writers introducing this topic to a show that's already full of unresolved conflicts. Since we only got a sneak peak into her daily life we have to assume it's the norm, and when someone this young has to carry a burden like this wouldn't you expect it to show someway, even before we see the cause? Going on like this has to end in some breakdown sooner or later. But there was no hint of it anywhere and for the rest of the show it probably won't come up again. Either she's a flat sidekick or a deeper character, not this half-assed approach that touches serious topics and then resolves them with some stupid laughs. But apparently that's how the show will end up and people are ok with that as long as she looks cute in a dress. My last post concerning this. |

| I loved a lot knowing more about Nako-chi! She's really strong on the inside, yet cute! :3 When I knew this chapter was going to be about her, I thought "This is surely gonna be boring" as my fav characters are Ohana-chan and Yuina... but this is now one of my fav episodes! :) Keep it up, Nako-chi! |
| I thought it was a good episode too, it was great that Nakochi was finally in the spotlight. I can understand her dilemma all too well, because I'm a shy person and I want to break out and be my true self at all times, but it's not easy. I'm not as shy as her anymore, but I was a lot like her at 16. I have to agree that it does seem unrealistic that she cares for her siblings and does household chores on top of work and going to high school. A normal person would be exhausted from all of that, yet she seems pretty energetic and cheerful. Also I think her parents should spend less time debating on how a child should be raised and more time actually raising their kids... -__- |

Also I think her parents should spend less time debating on how a child should be raised and more time actually raising their kids... -__- I know a few people like that,an exemple is a friend who came to live in my country when she was 13,she learned the language quickly but not her parents,all her teenage years were spent doing stuff like pay the bills,taxes,handle all the immigration papers,deal with the bank and all sorts of other stuff as well as going to school. She admits that she would have liked a bit more free time but she was never depressed or anything. |

Note that attending high school and achieving high marks are two very different things, and I would doubt that Nakochi would be university bound. What surprises me is that her parents are teachers--I would have thought that they would put a higher priority on school for Nakochi. (I guess that her serving as a third parent allows them the luxury of a big family.) |

And if the children are trained correctly they are happy to help. I come from a family of nine, well familiar with this. However I don't do much in the way of work at home besides outdoor work and I have a job + college. With so many kids, all my mother does is gardening, teaching, and sewing and the rest is split among the rest of us. That's how people with more children are found to have less stress (and also live longer). |

It was kind of sweet and funny, how could they know that Nako was immensely shy, especially with her wearing that outfit? It was a cool and unique routine developed out of desperation. |
| Nakochi ignoring the drowning prince was hilarious! Great episode, the last two were a little boring, but this one brought back the HanaIro I love. I wish Nakochi would have gotten a two episode arc instead of the young master though. |
| Jiroumaru was drowned as a prince. It was very funny when Nako was being hit on. |
| It was hilarious when Nako smacked the guy who hit on her with her shopping bag! ^^ I like how they used the analogy of swimming freely in the ocean/afraid of land and applied it to Nako's situation. I can relate to that. :) |
| And I shall still be waiting for a Renji episode for the next two weeks. Oh, and in case y'all did not know, the Hanasaku Iroha manga is still running, so we might be expecting a second season. (only a tiny bit of it has been translated unfortunately.) edit: wait just one moment, the manga is published monthly and began in December 2010... that means there are a maximum of 8 chapters. Which means most of what we are watching is filler unless those are freakishly long chapters. There is also a spin off manga with Minchi as the MC, though by a different artist. edit: The chapters are typically 56 pages long. that's pretty long, but there are only four. edit again: This is partly a four panel manga, so it would actually be quite easy to fill up a lot of storyline. |

| The title of this episode was weird, and I didn't really understand the part about the "prince", but I still liked this episode. I like how we got to explore more of Nako's character. I also found out about some traits that I share with both Nako and Ohana. |
