sorry i didn't see your post earlier. From what I've heard, UIUC has more group work than other schools. I would say that difficulty wise it isn't too bad overall. The last few semesters of Accounting classes are more broad theory and thus, not as hard or really heavily curved. However, those classes do assume you know some of the stuff in mid tier classes without much review. Further, the mid tier classes probably put in more stuff than other schools.

Job wise, having a good GPA and extracurriculars are important, but in the end its more about your individual personality as I've seen people from "second tier" schools get good jobs and people from the U of I be unemployed for over a year.
