All of the female teachers in anime are singles?
Because... look at Toradora, look at K-ON, look at Azumanga Daioh for examples, the female teachers there are single, right?
So that, I am asking: Why it is like that?

because the teacher is more funny that way. Middle Aged women who fail to find a partner, is some what entertaining. Though Not all are like that for example Onegai Sensei where the teacher is married to the student.

Probably because Japanese social norms dictate that they quit their jobs after marriage to raise a kid and/or keep house. Why do they still need to work when they now control their husband's money?

And not quite all are single, as seen with the cram school teacher in Chobits...

there sure are enough normal teachers in animes too, but they never get into the spotlight cause they are normal everyday people. there is no reason to put that in an anime.

They're singles so there's room for Rule 34 potential.

With the other characters.

Also, best teacher in any of my animus has to be Yoshinoya-Sensei from HidiSketch. She fits the eccentric art teacher stereotype perfectly.

Agree. That's the common japanese way of thinking.

Because they're all the same boring character carelessly thrown in there for the sake of including another female character design to make the harem bigger.

It's true in places were there's not much feminism... But places like America/Canada, a lot of married women still do their jobs.

I think most of the male teachers are single also. Teachers are almost never a main character, so why cast a spouse. Gives you an occasional joke about dating to throw in.

Yeah the wife controls the house and purse as her only job is/was pretty typical in Japan. It's been pointed out as the reason Japanese fathers aren't involved in the family much, or are fleeing desperately from becoming one at this point. Otoh, I have heard of women being told they had to be married by thirty if they wanted to keep their jobs. Not sure what the numbers actually are in either direction among younger people, since SAHM requires a substantial income from the husband to be functional.

And yet, none of the teachers that the OP mentioned way back in 2011 are potential love interests, and Azumanga and K-On don't even have central male characters to form harems around.

"Adding in mature eyecandy to ecchi anime" might be closer to the mark, as even in some obvious harem series like Shuffle! or Rosario + Vampire, the female teachers aren't love interests.

Yes, it's quite present in CGDCT 4-koma adaptations that even the female teachers are affected by the "curse" of not being in romantic relationships, like the main cast of the shows. Hidamari Sketch, Sketchbook, Lucky Star, Yuyushiki, Non Non Biyori, among the many examples with single attractive female teachers. There are rare exceptions like Sakurai from Nichijou, but even in her case it's a one-sided crush, and she doesn't even notice it. It's usually played as a joke, but it is unfortunate that adults with full-time employment are being portrayed as not being able to form relationships and families for the kicks.

Kimura-sensei from Azumanga was male and married (to the surprise of main cast). He's best remembered for saying that he works as a teacher because he likes high school girls and generally being really perverted.

Other anime sometimes have a old man give a super-boring lecture. Math teacher from Earth Girl Arjuna wasn't old, but gave super-boring lectures too. When asked, he told it's because what he can teach is too regulated, and he feels downtrodden.

I use "harem" loosely to refer to any show that's only (or main) appeal is the fact that it has female characters.

I don't care who loves who, or if "well actually there's a male side character who shows up like 40 seconds in the entire series", or whatever crap makes an anime "technically" not a harem. If it's got 9 female characters, and like maybe 2 dudes, it's a harem. If the promotional art revolves around specifically excluding any male characters (who are, you know, the main characters) in a desperate attempt to convince you they aren't there, and showcase its female characters like you're going to a fucking car show, it's a harem.

Shows like K-on where there's like literally no male characters at all, but are clearly written for a male audience intended to be viewed from a male perspective, also fall into this camp.

To me it's about the character/viewer dynamics, not about "well technically only 2 out of the 17 girls surrounding the lone male main character like him", that makes something a harem.

According to the -anime only- episode 19 of Azumanga Daioh it's something more related to lack of will or confidence to undergo what is perceived as a natural "next step" in life, and in general it seems it has something to do as well with female teacher not being considered a serious enough job to form a family project. Marriage, creating a family, having kids, etc. is perceived as something desirable and an ambition society puts onto them but at the same time overwhelming and outside of their current comfort zone. I guess in this case age has something to do with this as well, note that Yukari and Nyamo are relatively young, in their late 20s, which is too young of an age to devote your life to a long-lasting project. It's hinted as well that they've had various failed romantic adventures in the past (Nyamo at least) that may have crushed their confidence in that regard.

Tsuchida Naozumi is a male beginning teacher in Hanamaru Youchien.

Usually the single female teacher is a persistent meme of the young woman approaching thirty and believing she is now over-the-hill and will never get married. Often they seem much too close to their students perhaps because they don't have much of a social life outside school. Both Yukie-sensei in Noein and Maiko-sensei in Dennou Coil are examples in more dramatic shows, as are, of course, the teachers in Azumanga Daioh, Hidamari Sketch, and other comedies.

Also it creates a extra harem character, where the teacher can be one of the targets.
In Kimengumi two of the teachers get married to each other.
In Shin Chan, the Head teacher is married to the deputy head.

Speaking of Hanamaru Youchien, in Kodomo no Jikan there are two male teachers and two female ones among the main cast. They're all unmarried (through they might get married in the end - I've never finished the manga).
