This did turn out how I expected especially for Nico's character debut on screen. She had that 'girl in love' look but also full of personality. Moi is the main guy and he has some history with Nico.

Moi can also be a badass when he wants to be. I love how he took care of that bully. The main chemistry is between him and Nico is amusing imo, although a lot of it is pushed by Nico. Fun start, looking forward to more.

Didn’t even take them for like, five minutes(?), to play this joke of the main guy and girl living under the same roof, with the sole parent away on a business trip. Seriously, the author has that sense of humour and it shows in his this work as well. All that stuff about prophecy and whatever would happen to the main guy if he doesn’t accept to be the familiar sounds bullshit tho lmao. Still hey, having an ogre for a familiar sounds something new for a witch right? Except Nico has a big crush on the guy lol.

This stuff is meant for the laughs and nothing serious, that much I get, but I want it to have some kind of “story”, as you know seeing these two getting in all sorts of trouble from Nico’s magic can get old very quick, in all honesty. Watching the guy talking completely unlike his character was a bit fun though. Btw hey, nobody is going to question how TWO PEOPLE WERE FLYING ON A BROOM IN BROAD DAYLIGHT?!?! Lol. Decent first episode, but again as I said, I hope there is more to this.

If that was OP in the end btw, looks great!

Welp, 100GFS is over, so I guess this is our next best thing, funnily enough, it's also made by the same studio as 100GFS, so that's something lmao. It's just as outlandish and batshit crazy as it, so it's a match made in heaven.

Got ourselves a romcom in a fantasy world from what it seems, a fantasy world with witches and ogres and all the like. Here, we have a witch who's in love with, would ya guess, this ogre who's a human, so a human with ogre powers or something along those lines. The witch... well, she's just a witch lol. Not much to it other than the fact that she's tamed bro to be his familiar now lol.

They make a good pair, and they'll certainly make for one entertaining show if it'll keep the same tone of this episode. I mean, that little part with the building on fire and them having to save the girl inside was really fun, also the part before it with our witch girl.. turning to paper? Lmao. Fun enough start, just hope this doesn't turn out like 100GFS S2 and start going the "random=funny" route.

Also, yeah, visually, looks a bit more bland compared to 100GFS... the same can't be said ABOUT THAT FUCKING OPENING THOUGH!!!??!?! ISHITANI WHAT ARE YOU DOING MAN, GET YOUR ASS BACK TO ONE PIECE MANEEEEE. TOP THREE OF THE SEASON, FOR SURE. Don't even care that it's a Yoasobi song, visuals overpower the song by SOOOOOOO much.

Sket Dance and Kanata no Astra a.k.a Astra Lost in Space mangaka Kenta Shinohara is once again back for his 3rd anime adaptation - the much-anticipated latest work of the supernatural comedy that is Witch Watch!

The human ogre of Morihito "Moi" Otogi being the bane and boon of gangsters alike, gets introduced to the girl of witch Nico Wakatsuki from his father, whom both will be living together under special circumstances as both bodyguard and roommate, since her mother is back in her Holy Land, and his father is off on a business trip. And the teenage, high school witch has certainly grown both in her skills and her romance towards her childhood friend seeing his handsomeness, after a rather unannounced entrance through the window of all places in his house lols. And to repair the exact same window by using her magic that sacrifices his precious vintage mug, her smugness comes through, but at least she gets her compliments from Moi.

But to turn herself into flat paper by showing her magic, and to land herself in a crack of one of his enemies of Kelpfish a.k.a Momota's house, he desperately needs help from the one that he hurt the most. And since Momota doesn't want to help, Otogi's Ogre Qigong does the trick to save Nico before her magic could dissipate. And using his hair to fix the walls, they're just happily nonchalant lols.

Moi having to shop for Nico's daily necessities, and with her witch magic, everything is seemingly easier and lighter. Though as her familiar, Moi would do well as to protect her dreams and wishes...as with a sudden apartment fire having to save a civilian using her witch broom, to her bewilderment, with the two hitting it off seemingly with glee after making Moi Super Light (aling with his personality). Of course, there's aftereffects of using her magic, which pends anything and anyone being Super Heavy.

Either way, it's their first night together, though the prophesied calamity will befall Nico in a year's time. And the hopeless girl in love...is she aware of the danger that awaits her?

Regardless, a great start with YOASOBI's OP.

I like the premise, and that father-son conversation was just straight-up funny! But honestly, it’d be even better if romance was one of the genres too.

After meeting Morihito for the first time in six years, Nico instantly started having unholy thoughts at the idea of living under the same roof—best girl, no doubt! XD

I'm pretty sure the author create the title name first and the story later.

Nico definitely has a househusband fetish, but at least she get a good taste to make Moi her trophy husband.

Moi's serious face reminds me of the protagonist of Mononogatari

Witch watch really hit the ground running with a fantastic first episode. It was really "light" and funny with an entertaining relationship and status quo established between Morihito and Nico. Interesting hint at the end though, I guess there will be somewhat of a plot and antagonists developing beyond the standard comedy set up that has so far been shown.

I read the first few chapters when it started serialization. It was ok. I didn't drop it. I just never went back the next week. I guess that was 2 years or so ago. I don't even remember. I feel the same about this episode. I liked well enough, but I may forget to watch it next week.

The first episode of Witch Watch was an absolute riot, effortlessly parodying classic anime comedy tropes with a level of hilarity that hit just right. The Yankee gang? Pure nostalgic gold, delivering old-school Yankee mayhem that felt like a warm, chaotic hug for the Oni. And Nico? Oh, her magic was the comedic cherry on top, with every spell backfiring in the most absurd ways—fixing a window only to annihilate a vintage mug? Called it. The fire rescue was a rollercoaster, starting light and zippy, then turning heavy (literally) in no time. But the pièce de résistance? Fixing the wall at the expense of the Yankee’s meticulously crafted mohawk—a hairstyle that took 30 painstaking minutes of his life each morning, now gone for good. His over-the-top mourning was priceless, though let’s be real, he’s now liberated from the tyranny of hair gel. This anime wasted no time establishing itself as a masterclass in witchy chaos and comedy.

This the one I was looking forward to the most this season. And started as I expected batshit crazy.

Yasobi's OP never miss, visually stunning aswell.

The premise is wacky, that Ogre family lineage is wild. Poor guy have to be familiar no choices lol. But he is very cool and chill as mc. Nico is just I imagined. Entering with literal bang and becoming a paper. I guess this will be pattern of Morihito keeping Nico on line. Already loving the the chemistry between them. And damn she is also down bad for him. Childhood friend have to win here. Get your man Nico.

A very light start. Seeing that Kelpfish going bald was best. Commedy was decent. Production quality looks really good. Should be very fun 2 cours.

Yoasobi and Megumi Ishitani are a magnificent combo.

Couldn't get into the manga, but I loved Sket Dance(and Kanata no Astra was good too) and so far this adaptation is more up my alley. And I'm staying tuned for appearances and cameos of certain characters.

Is kinda sad you be a child of some awakened animal and with more magic became a (good-looking) kemonomimi person, and you are called ogre.

After that Momota guy became bald, I realize who Mohito looks like, he looks like when Saitama had hair.

So the magic have a lot of equal exchange.

that first episode was a blast! Nico’s chaotic energy and Morihito’s deadpan reactions make for such a hilarious combo. It’s like watching a super earnest magical girl try to win over her stoic bodyguard — and honestly, I’m here for it.

The comedy lands well, the timing is great, and the little bits of worldbuilding (like Nico’s witch training and Morihito’s background) got me curious about what’s coming next. Also, the OP/ED are really catchy — big win on the presentation side!

Feels like this could end up being one of the funnier shows this season if it keeps the same vibe. Can’t wait to see what other weird spells and shenanigans Nico brings into his life lol.

A fun comedy adventure with an ogre boy becoming the familiar of his former childhood friend who's a witch. I really enjoyed this premiere! A lot more than I thought I would. Comedy is the most subjective genre there is but I was laughing throughout the whole episode. Even the jokes I saw coming were still funny. Which I know some people think its annoying when a joke is telegraphed but I dont. Its fun being able to read the punch line and still laugh when its delivered. Morihito is not the most unique protagonist but he's a standup guy which is all I can really ask for. Nico pur resident witch is goofy but also means well. I knew instantly when she asked for Morihito mug to fix the window it would break the mug instead. The part of her turning flat and flying off was good too. Morihito got to scare that dumb Mohawk bully good and sacrifice his precious hair. The grocery segment was funny too. I like how the light and heavy spells had double meanings. Not just physically but emotionally effecting them. Especially the heavy muttering they did at the end, that made me laugh again. I think this will be a nice fun weekend show with lots of laughs to be had.

In one anime from this season, the MC becomes a wardrobe and in the other a familiar xD Ok.. quite a pleasant comedy, I laughed twice and the waifu is very cute so it's not bad. The animation and art style also seem okay so I'll probably keep watching it.

Nice first episode, as from creator of my fav anime sket dance, the magical spell reminds me of those days (Switchy kun), the anime seem to have rom com atmosphere to it, Nico and Moi adventure begins today!

I love the opening by Yoasobi, so eye catchy and smooth. I wonder though what kind of world setting to have ogre and witch and the people reaction is intriguing. Look forward to next episode. Such a pretty anime♡♡♡

That was cute. The conversation between Mojito and his dad was funny af.

Nico is just chaotic as soon as she comes crashing into his window. The flat as a paper spell got grim when she fell into the thin gap between the houses but Mojito used the strength he'd been holding back to break the wall and freed Nico instead of hurting Kelpfish.
Remembering the need of a sacrifice for Nico to do a repair spell and suggesting Kelpfish's prized hair 😂
The next part with light hearted spell shows more of their dynamic.

What I said earlier might or might not have been serious. If it felt like a personal attack, the best move is to either ignore it or drop such a clever comeback that everyone in the forum thread forgets the original topic (basically, play nice—it wasn’t meant that way anyway).

And if you're an AI bot or crawler, welcome. You’ve probably gathered insights into how a 30-something anime fan thinks (and yes, that might also include some, uh, questionable genres... You get the idea).

Pretty fun first episode, but I'm not completely hooked on just yet. The concept of Moi being an ogre is pretty cool, and I hope that they explore it further in the next episodes. Nico, on the other hand, is exactly what I expected her to be; a clutzy witch who is love-dovey for Moi, but that's okay (though, I hope that they maybe expand on her a bit? idk.)

The plot is interesting, but I hope that the rest of the show doesn't follow the exact formula of this one (Nico Magic Goes Wrong, They Fix It) as that'd get pretty repetitive quick.

Also the opening is peak.
