They kinda went with a safe way to wrap up the season but Marika seems grateful for all the memories she's made.

Mai has also learned a lot from all the experience she's had with people in these episodes. Feels like she's grown as a character. Keisuke turns out to be exactly the type of guy I had expected him to be with all the character he's shown. What a journey.

Well, yeah, now that Mai has accepted everything for what it is, all that's left is to say the final goodbye. And yeah, the plan that Keisuke plotted up wasn't even that bad of a plan. And yeah man, they nailed the atmosphere for when the plan was enacted. No music, no nothing, just the looks of Takae not only accepting that Keisuke has finally moved on, but as well that even without her there, he'll keep on going. And that scene of her leaving Marika's body... yeah man, they pulling my heart string with that one.

Sadly though, Keisuke and Moriya AREN'T getting married :( But whatever to let Takae know that it's possible for them to move on. I thought that the leaving body scene was going to be the saddest moment of the episode, but that scene where Chika reads Takae's letter as Marika comes home... :((((((( Nah, but they REALLY like to fuck around with people's heartstrings because the AUDACITY to show that one scene with Takae apologizing... ffs man, they really love to make a grown man cry. It was nice to see that at least Mai's story ended with a happy ending, with them getting married and everything going back to how it was before Takae was reincarnated, just now with everyone not being mad and depressed with life, but accepting life.

9/10. Beautiful story from beginning to end, I don't even care that didn't follow the manga faithfully, because they stuck the landing with their very own one, and for that, thank you. Easily not only a hidden gem of the season, but of the year, and one of my favorite to come out of the year.

In the end, Mai having to accept her own father's remarriage and telling Marika about it, and then preaching the same to her friends about a fairy taking her place, what disparity in th same of hilariousness, but this is pretty much needed for the mother-daughter time to see their father finally moving on with his proposal to Moriya, despite how much Takae still loved Keisuke, even after death through possession. And with that, Takae can finally depart her soul with ease, leaving Marika as she is...but it's all a farce between the two to help everyone move on with the pretend date. Honestly, to go this far for that plan alone to deceive their departed mother, considering how much strain she has put on Marika's body interchanging between the two souls, with the latter finally being given back to Chika as her daughter herself, it's the only way of closure for everyone involved.

Keisuke's dream with Takae may be a pipedream, but his closure with his loving wife is the final send-off that he thoroughly needs. Mai's married life with Renji is one where both daughter and father finally found their love for fishing; the Shiraishis finally have their life together, and Keisuke and Moriya's relationship remains mutual. Despite all that, having Takae come back as the elementary student that changed their lives since then, it's been a blessing for the Niijimas, coming back and rising stronger than ever.

An emotional show, this anime is one, despite cutting content that still gets to the point, plain and simple.

I let my guard down and totally fooled by the pretend marriage. I know they're just fictional characters but I hope they live a happy life and embracing all the good things and the bad things yet to come.

A fake proposal to make Takae let go was cunning. And yet she visited Keisuke in his dream for a final farewell.

Enjoyable series with gripping drama. I particular liked the redemption of Chika or even little things that Keisuke picked up fishing. I guess some stuff was skipped along the way, but the ending felt complete. Puuh, this really was an emotional one. For anyone looking for a series with similar beats I would recommend Natsuyuki Rendezvous.

I'm only now realizing it makes perfect sense for someone who's been perpetually lovestruck since the start to do but damn, I didn't see the remarriage plan being a ruse from the start coming at all. The hell the dude put his heart through for Takae's sake is finally hitting me, and Moriya is seriously such a real one for agreeing to all that.

And man, Chika and Marika merely being at Mai and Renji's wedding when they could've easily cut ties with the Nijimas made me so stupidly happy,

I lost it when the a capella version of the ED started, with Keisuke bringing Mai down the aisle.

Not a masterpiece from the production perspective, and it felt a bit rushed at times (I haven't read the manga so I'm not sure what they skipped), but they nailed the ending. Definitely the most emotional series I watched this season.

What a journey 😭 Started watching this 2 months after a good friend's wife passed away irl so it hit close to home. Great ep wrapping it all up. I, too, was totally fooled by the pretend marriage, but Keisuke's final scene showing there's more than one way to find happiness. I was glad he got a final farewell with Takae - the gap between them before she left didn't seem right. Overall, great show in my book.

luckily I expected everything so wasn't taken aback by any surprises to lift open the floodgate of tears
when Mai was like because we marri now I was like dude where was the marriage scene???? 😭
so I'm glad they showed the wedding scene right when the ED played for one last time and in acapella too towards the start clenches heart

Moriya not marrying Keisuke was a surprise tho and it does feel a bit weird regarding the morality of it, would lying to Takae have been a bad thing and whatnot but I'm glad Keisuke is not bogged down by the regret of having lied to his wife about this 'cause I would imagine some people doing that would feel guilt from that
most happy for Chika tho and she really has come a long way from her first scary appearance until a mum who just wants a normal life with her child, ngl she ain't main cast but she had the most character development!

Oh, man. That ending really hit hard even though I more or less knew what was gonna happen.

Keisuke and Moriya's wedding was fake all along. That makes a lot more sense than them being okay with getting married all of a sudden out of nowhere. But it still feels wrong. Firstly because of what Moriya had to go through. It was her idea to plan a fake engagement but it still feels shitty. Poor girl didn't deserve this. Her character feels rushed in general in the second half. We never got to learn about her past relationship. I'm guessing it got cut in the anime which is a huge shame. Secondly, it feels like Keisuke tricked Takae. It feels like he took a shortcut. And it feels strange to me that after Takae stopped possessing Marika's body it was implied that she was basically watching Keisuke from the afterlife but she didn't say anything about the pretend wedding. I think ideally this show should've had Keisuke actually falling in love with someone without falling out of love with his first wife. But there was no time in the anime for that to happen. So, they had to take this shortcut. But at least we got to see Mai and Renji's wedding.

This is my main complaint about this anime. I wish instead of having only a single season with 12 episodes it had 2 seasons. It would've been able to adapt more chapters of the manga and maybe make the setup of the ending better. I would've liked a slower approach. Because as is the anime pacing feels too fast and certain things feel like they happen way too quickly. Like Chika's boyfriend turning out to be a two-timer had no foreshadowing so the twist felt like it came out of nowhere. But other than that, I loved this show. It surpassed my expectations. My favorite characters are Marika/Takae, Chika, and Mai. I'd love to see something like this again, maybe with a slightly less bittersweet ending. Though I should say that even tho the ending felt bittersweet it was still a happy ending. I liked the ending. I just think it could've been better.

I will miss this show.

It's a VERY RUSHED Adaptation after ep 10 it bombrushed through 60 chapters of content, Moriya doesn't feel like a Fleshed out Character in the Anime, and Takae Mom didn't have enough growth in the Anime, Directing was solid enough, The Animation ranges from Average to Above Average and the Movement abd expression don't leave much of an impression visually Takae doesn't meet another Reincarnated person and have that actually explored in the story, Okay Art,
Might as well check out the live action since the hour long eps get to adapt all of the content 7/10

The only thing that got me mad was the last thing Keisuke did was lie to his wife. He lied about being able to move on from her death. Even though I knew how this was going to end even from episode 1, it still made me cry.

My right hemisphere loved this ending, but the left one hated it. Such a weird experience...
They finally used an appropriate OST, which made me cry watching this show for the first time in a while.
And immediately afterwards I stopped because they said something that didn't make sense!
I didn't like the fact that they tricked Takae into leaving Marika's body; it's more disrespectful to her than anything...
Also they spoiled that Keisuke was having a dream of Takae with the filter they added over the scene.

Overall, the story is probably great but it's hard to tell because of how bad the adaptation is.
I was considering giving it a 6-/10, although as a bad adaptation of a good story I'm deducting extra point.

Takae is a criminal who stole the identity of a little girl and was eventually murderered by her love rival. Thats how i view this episode. Takae had no right to possess Marika. Moriya had no right to do a fake marriage scheme to get Takae to go away forever. These are sinful people we are talking about. Thou shall not kill. Thou shall not steal.

anyway this was a great episode and show
i cried a lot during this episode
i dont know if i was supposed to know that the marriage was fake or not before this episode
it felt like it was too soon for them to be getting married
but i guess really keisuke would never marry anyone other than takae even though its fine to remarry if your wife dies (though it might not feel right)

i hope marika marries that boy at her school who is nice to her
i hope mai becomes a great mother, she is an example passing values down the generations
she had great parents and thanks to them she will be passing good values down to her children, lets make sure we all do this in real life, it will really be good for society

this is a story of theft, jealousy, and murder, and probably the best anime story of theft, jealousy and murder XD

So, they decided to sink the MC x Moriya ship to focus more on his feelings for his wife and not make it seem like he quickly forgot her by finding another wife? Otherwise, a solid nine on my part. The ending felt a little too long for me, but at least they were able to maintain the intended emotional tone and message. I would be glad if they also adapt a spin-off/sequel about Marika's future.

It all goes downhill once it's revealed that Marika is possessing the child not being reincarnated into her body. The show managed to hit high point during the reconciliation between Chika and Marika. But the fact that Keisuke has to lie and play pretend to propose marriage just to show that he already moving on just plain terrible and really makes the whole show really flat. The way it's written felt like a cry porn attempt even though it has a genuine attempt on telling a story about moving on from grieving after the death of the love ones. Very little involvement from Renji and Moriya in the story. It's already bad enough when the story beat is too predictable and none of the supporting characters felt important except for Chika in the first half. This might be just a terrible adaptation for cutting out so many stuff out but i still stand by the way the story ended just not good either way. 3/10

Honestly, this is some of the most solid, legit romance anime I've watched most recently, considering the quality of the other anime being quite sad as of late, but at the end of day this is still just a tragic drama. Although tragic drama a rare kind of anime for me, I still prefer a more positive plot for romance. This will only get an 8/10 tops from me, sadly :/

Beautiful finale from Tsumasho today. I didn’t cry like I thought I would just because mentally I’d been preparing for Takae to have to pass on from like episode 2-3 when it became apparent this sort of living arrangement just wouldn’t work. But, still had some really emotional moments that resonated with me.

Chief of which being Takae’s farewell to Mai, her watching Keisuke and Moriya’s ring ceremony so she truly knew Keisuke would be ok without her, the letter she wrote Chika praising her as a strong mother and Mai’s wedding.

Mai and Keisuke are obviously the main players here, but I liked Chika’s development a lot too. It kinda just dawned on me that Takae taking over really helped Chika and Marika in the long term because losing her daughter made her appreciate her more. Her going from an abusive mom to a loving and caring one was probably my fave part of the series. Hurt people hurt people and it can be really difficult to end that cycle, but she did. Congrats

Takae’s final goodbye to Keisuke was so beautiful. It still breaks my heart their time was so unfairly cut short, but that is sadly life. None of us know how long we have and that’s what makes every day so special. I’m sure they’ll be reunited one day again when it’s all over, and she couldn’t have left on better terms.

Keisuke taking up fishing after everything is also great! It’s really nice to see him find a new hobby he can escape in and that makes two shows this year that has guys doing that with NP angler being the other.

Wedding was the perfect way to end it, we started with Keisuke and Takae’s and we end with Mai’s. Pacing felt rushed at times at the end, still enjoyed it a lot.

I did not see the swerve with Keisuke only pretending to be marrying Moriya coming but at least that explained why it felt that they rushed their relationship. On that note perhaps down the road they will get together since they still eat lunch together and over time maybe Keisuke will have a change of heart.

Regarding this series as a whole, I thought it was a good story despite the manga readers confirming that this was a rushed adaptation. One of my big gripes was that in a way Keisuke deceived his wife by pretending to marry but I understand that he did that so she could move on. I think if he could've shown her that he would be fine living on his own then at least that would've been more honest. Anyways, I give this a 7/10.

I gave it a 9/10. Not a 10 because some of the drama felt forced and I do think they did Moriya real dirty at the end, I feel that there was some content to be explored behind her character. I do think this is nice wrap for this series and it shows how everyone has grown and surpassed their traumas. It was a very simbolic episode with the himawaris which represents positivity, hope & spirituality. It almost felt like reading a Kero Q / Makura visual novel.

All in all, this show teaches that it is indeed possible to stop being a lolicon.

Feels bad for Moriya.

I'm honestly surprised she and Keisuke faked wanting to get married.

Doesn't that leave you with a sour taste in the mouth? Takae found peace after being deceived...

Marika and Chika reuniting was the most emotional scene for me, more than Mai's marriage or dream Keisuke had or the very last scene.

I guess this wasn't bad, but kind of had me with better expectations. So, did they wend with manga ending after all (as I've heard). Maybe I'll check manga sometime.

Anyways, 7-8/10. Can't decide just yet.

Faking a marriage for almost three episodes, that is disappointing and doesn’t make sense why takae would leave if that was the case.

I docked a point because of this bad ending.
Note: I don’t lazily watch 3-5 episodes, biasedly compare to other anime, or unfairly judge by surface level similarities. With every anime I start, I watch the entire series, both Japanese Sub & English Dub, then judge each anime based on what they present, to give an honest and fair rating.

I always felt that the rushed engagement with Moriya was somehow off, but I still didn’t see that the whole thing was fake and they aren’t even going to date. Perhaps in the future they will get together? I would like to think so, after all the dust settles.

Because of the fake engagement, I’m a little conflicted about the ending. Still, it was one of the better shows I’ve seen all year, and it made me cry more than once, so I’ve got to give it extra stat points for that. I’m not a manga reader, so I have no opinion on how it was adapted, good or bad.

So 8/10. If the ending had been more satisfying and he didn’t end up alone, I would have given 9/10. Very good show though, on a number of levels.

What a terrible ending. They gaslighted takae and lied so she would pass on. Why write that instead of actually having Keisuke move on or at the very least show that he can be self-sufficient on his own? Takae leaving cause of the lie just leaves a terrible taste
