| Was extremely tempted to skip this episode initially, turned out pretty ok-ish, about 2.5/5. Baby Digimon were cute. |

| This is the first ep I dislike. There are two things I dislike: 1) I dislike the cheesy stories where one of the main characters meet the guest character who turns out to be very unpleasant and the main character teaches the guest a lesson somehow and the guest apologizes and makes up with them. I've seen them all the time in many shows especially Pokemon. It just irritates me how the guest character easily accepts that they are in the wrong and learns a somewhat meaningful lesson after meeting that main character. Like their whole life changed after meeting said person. Elecmon has every right to get angry at Takeru and Patamon though he didn't have to attack them I don't buy that Patamon was able to overpower Elecmon.. 2) Takeru. I know he's a child so I can't expect him to be as mature and rational as the others but his pacifist and naive nature rub me in the wrong way. Cos his personality would definitely affect Patamon and his ability to digivolve. I wonder how it would turn out if Patamon is given to a different Chosen Child. |

| I really liked this episode. Felt pretty similar to the short film preceding the series, with the baby digimon and overall cute tone. Takeru is probably one of my favourites of the children. The short flashback was nice and I liked it when he mentioned his parents fighting. |

Also this episode is littered with foreshadowing. Exactly. They managed to weave bits of foreshadowing without making it obvious and while expanding on Takeru's character who we knew nothing about other than "Yamato's little brother" and Patamon's desires (who has more character than every other digimon excluding Gomamon). That said, I like Patamon here; he acts like Takeru but has a bit more self-awareness, his own desires, and is willing to fight. Elecmon was done well too as was their banter. (He never went back to get the fish??) Really, Takeru is the weakest link this episode; I hope he gets better. If it wasn't for him, this would be a great episode. Interesting to note, Patamon seems to "kinda" agree that Devimon comes from an egg but is unsure. Mod Edit: Merged duplicated posts; please use the edit button. |

The meter is rising. YAMETE! Patamon sent elecmon flying. Patamon won. Devimon. Koromon. Dat ending. Elecmon, the adult, should be ashamed getting beat by Patamon, the child. |
