Great chapter. I love how the mangaka uses Hiro in this situation... The fact he wants her to look only at him shows how selfish he can be and the last page was very well done too. :3

At first I thought her dad was an ass but I can atleast see why he is being so apathetic to his child now.

Bought the first 6 volumes of this... gonna take like 3 weeks to ship from japan tho :(.

So, caught up with this manga now and i have to say, it really is damn good. Normally i dislike Shoujo but somehow this manga is very exciting.

Honestly, the backstory of Mao´s parents did not surprise me. That Mao´s mom cheated was already hinted when she came back home with the guy and was angry that Mao was at home. Besides, it was also obvious from his behavior that Mao´s dad has some kind of trauma concerning his past marriage and that he partially blames Mao for it.
Still, the chapter was really heartbreaking because is was build up as a sweet love story but then the scene with her cheating was really shocking.

I get how you guys pity the dad for his cheating wife and all but even if his point is understandable, the way both of them treated Mao is so damn unfair.

LOL "something."

YAAAAY, he's greedy about Mao. :#

I pity the dad somewhat, but that still doesn't excuse him for how he is now. At this rate, it'll never be fixed if he doesn't try to do something. Dreams can only do so much.

I guess its sort of understandable why Mao's dad got all messed up. He got cheated on straight after he got married, then his daughter wouldn't look at him properly. Kinda feel sorry for him. I think eventually he'll get better.

Lol loved that Hiro and Mao bit.

Wow, sad history and I do have to say that I don't hate Mao's dad as much as before. He basically had a wife that cheated on him right after marriage..wow.

The story of her parents was really sad. Even if I feel sorry for her father, he's being unfair with Mao.

Damn.
She just cheated on him like that. I mean, a bit more focus on the parents wouldn't hurt much.

Her new wife hinted, he is calling Mao's name sleeping, so even if he say he don't care, the truth is that he care about.....

Sad backstory BTW

I feel bad for the dad, he has endured too much. If only he was a little more assertive he could have been closer to his wife and his daugther although that wife is a slut

True, the father is not the bad guy. He was a really nice person until his wife cheated on him. Why would she do that? Mao's dad was 100% husbando material, unlike that other guy.

I'm still mad at the father, though I hate him a lot less now. When his wife said he was calling out for Mao in his sleep again I just started crying.

It looks like Hiro has known about Mao's feelings for a while, now.

I know your comment is old but I still want to clear it up for future readers. It's not quite about how Mao's being treated. I think almost everyone agrees that Mao deserves more love and a better childhood (irredeemable this point but whatever). The thing is that we can sympathize with is how hard that father strained himself for the sake of his family and he, as a mere human with emotions, was completely crushed to see that he was working for someone that didn't reciprocate his feeling in the slightest (at least that is how it appeared to him. We don't really know how the mother feels, though what she did was scummy). He was completely lost and the thing he had the most faith in completely betrayed him. Naturally, he's wary of everyone else since they might commit the same actions.

How for his innocent daughter. She takes after her mother and reminds him the most of the atrocities his wife had hidden from him, or at least attempted to. Needless to say, he's convinced that she has a similar thought process as his wife, which was further enticed by the innocent Mao saying "You made mommy cry". This made him think he was in the wrong but he couldn't accept it. And morally speaking, according to general consensus, he was not in the wrong either. It's a sad tale for the father and daughter and for now, my heart goes out to both of them (albeit fictional).

Mao's father's behavior is still unacceptable but his actions are at the least understandable now, and for his sake I hope that he's happier in his new relationship. Fuck Mao's mother though, damaging the relationship and damaging Mao.

This chapter was quite heartbreaking, seeing what happened to Mao's parents, especially Mao's dad... it doesn't excuse his behaviour to Mao, but still I can't help but feel sorry for him...

In the end, the biggest victim is the child.

Best chapter so far... I feel like I'm suddenly seeing so many characters in a new light, and everything fits together so well. It makes me appreciate the relationships in this manga a lot more, too. To be honest, this is the first chapter I've truly felt hooked when I was reading this (despite the previous chapters being enjoyable, the depth of the story hadn't dawned on me yet), and I hope I'll only continue to get roped in more and more by this heartwarming series.
