Have you ever dropped an anime but picked it back up and ended up liking it?

I inititally dropped Ijiranaide Nagatoro-san after the first two episodes. I thought she was just too mean and that nipple game weirded me out. But I saw the second season was starting, so I decided to give the show another chance. I ended up loving it starting around the middle of the first season. Now Nagatoro is even one of my most favorite characters! Glad I didn't drop the show permanently.

Not really liked, but Tantei Opera Milky Holmes.

Well, it had its moments. I actually liked the Alternative and TD more than the main series.

I have, yes. Juuni Kokuki is a notable one because it's on my favorites list now. First episode gave false impressions. A very pretty man from another world comes to whisk away the plainest girl in the universe to take her rightful place as queen. It's easy to assume where the story will go from there: that she will build a male harem and never change from being a timid useless person. But my assumptions were wrong.

Probably, but I don’t remember.
My dropped list is massive mostly cause I drop stuff for no reason, there’s a ton of stuff there that’s actually good and interesting but I’m just too lazy

I'm watching Shadows House right now, after dropping it pretty early two years ago. Despite still giving me the impression that the manga is the same but better (haven't read it, just a hunch), at least I can say that it's watchable, defiinitely better than many anime I dropped because they bored me to death.

Only original Naruto.

However most people agree that Konohamaru episode (episode 2) is bad. So I dropped after it, then got back. When Sasuke was in it I thought it was alright. Zabuza ark made me a fan.

I dropped Bebop at one point, I was expecting something different, and at the time I really hated the episodic nature of the show.
If you reply back to me and I never respond, I lost interest and don't care. Sorry about that.

I dropped Kingdom because of the animation but then picked it back up after going through the manga.
Have to say Season 3 was freaking amazing and obviously the manga is mind-blowing too!!

Sadly nobody talks about Kingdom ._.

Yeah, my interest wasn't really caught after the first episode of Demon Slayer, so I ended up dropping it for a while. Give it a chance and ended up enjoying it.
This is why I'm gonna give Bungou Stray Dogs another try as well, one day, even though I haven't had any interest after the first eps.
Waiting for something to happen?

When I was a kid I hated DBZ and that made hate anime as a whole. Many years later youtube recommended me DBZ - great saiyaman arc, I clicked on it by pure nostalgia and really liked it.

That day I discovered that I didn't hate anime, just battle shounen lol

All the anime I've "dropped" I've only done so out of laziness and lack of motivation to complete them. Anyway, Takagi-san I absolutely adored. I started it in 2019 and picked it back up and finished it early last year. Quite a fun, charming show. I've yet to watch the following seasons though.

Yes, Fruits Basket. I had stopped watching it around Season 2 because it became dull (I hadn't seen the Cinderella episode yet), but a friend later advised me to go back and watch it since "you never know what's going to happen." I gave it another shot, and this time I loved it.

I dropped Attack On Titan S1 because I thought it was a pretty boring show with terrible characters. I gave it a second try when I heard of all the hype about S3 of AOT and liked it a lot more during my second viewing. Also S3(P1 and P2) really lived upto the hype and were some of the best TV I have seen in years.

My On Hold and Dropped categories are what I would term "fluid" in that they're not set in stone and there is no hard and fast rule or criteria that I will usually rely upon to place a series in one category or the other. It's more reliant upon a gut feeling at the time. Therefore, I always leave open the possibility that I may eventually get an urge to watch and return to something I put in Dropped, and likewise, I may never again feel like actually returning to something in On Hold.

I say that because so far the most extreme and dramatic instances of me starting a series and then not continuing it through to fruition and finishing it with a substantial amount of time elapsed in-between are actually a few I had placed in the On Hold section rather than outright dropped.

I started watching Welcome to the NHK! in the summer of 2017 (before I had a MAL account, as you can see from my side details) and didn't finish it until the very end of December, New Year's Eve of 2019. So 2 1/2 years.

I started watching Gin no Saji around the same time in the summer of 2017 and didn't finish it until March of 2020. So over 2 1/2 years.

With those first two examples, honestly, if I had been regularly watching more anime series at the time (both currently airing seasonals and already aired/concluded series) then I'm sure I wouldn't have paused or even kind of soft-dropped them then. It's more an issue with the fact that though I started watching anime in the autumn of 2016, I didn't watch a whole lot of it for the years of 2017 and 2018 as far as new series; just focused on the few I already knew and loved. I wasn't as interested or motivated during this time period to start or continue with a series unless I was really enamored and just in love with it like I was for some of the earliest series which laid the foundation for my introduction to the medium. I didn't start watching series regularly in a much more back-to-back fashion until March of 2019.

Anyway, the series that I actually had the longest gap in-between starting and finishing and which I actually view as the most notable and sticks in my mind the most because I ended up coming away with the highest impression of it is Keep Your Hands Off Eizouken!

I started watching some seasonals as they were airing in the winter of 2020 season with just a few shows and this was one of them. So started in January of 2020. I placed it on hold after four or five episodes. I didn't end up coming back to it and finishing it until last month, December of 2022. So almost three years. And I ended up rating it an 8/10 (which I view as pretty damn good and respectable a rating since the majority of series I watch I end up rating 7/10s or 6/10s) and now see it as easily and handily the best series of 2020 (maybe not my top favorite which is different, but even there at least in the top three).
