Second episode has been released! I haven't seen it yet, but I will watch it as soon as it is possible when I come back home.

I am quite hyped for it because from what I heard we will see Mayura-dono in action. :D

What are your thoughts?

I liked this episode a lot, I love how Saori is getting a lot of focus now that she is 'waking up' to her role as a Goddess, and the 'weight' of it. I also kind of love/hate Eris' poisonous words, trying to fragilize Athena and her resolve.

That boy who failed to become a Saint, and came back like that, full of resentment, was also a nice (?) touch, in the end he was 'saved' by Athena's compassion. Oh, the part with Shouko was nice too! And I got a glimpse of Aioria! :D

First of all, I must say how I find it weird that I really don't mind Hideyuki Tanaka reprising his role as Aiolia to this very day, even though it is obvious that his voice sounds older (Tanaka is 68), when most of other characters from the original series were replaced.
Not to mention, Aiolia is actually younger in this series, than when he appeared first time.

As for the episode itself, I liked how fast paced it was, the whole thing with Saori and Eris, appearances of old known characters...
In some ways it was even better than the first episode.

That snake also seemed cool...

EDIT: Btw, few days ago I rewatched Saint Seiya: Jashin Eris movie, when I found out Eris is main villain in Saintia Sho as well.
Don't know how much this version of Eris will be similar to 1987 movie version, but from what I found out about Eris as goddess in general, and her golden apple thing, she seems a good choice for female heroines.

Also, both her old, and current design are just great.

I love how they showed the hatred that the orphans have for Saori.

It's still somewhat hard to me to get used to the fact that Saori had already assumed her role as Athena's reincarnation before the Galaxian Wars tournament had started, I have the storyline of the original so rooted in my mind that feeling some kind of mental clash is still unavoidable at the moment haha.

Also loved the spotlight to Jabu, I always liked this dude, and the hint to the fact that not every orphan sent to train to become a saint came back with the cloth and the title.

The focus in Saori and her "inner demons" in relation to her role as Athena and protector of the world this time is also good.

I like also how smooth the rythm at which the events are being told is. I hate it when they rush things to "get to the good part" asap.

This is actually better than I expected. The score this is getting is totally unfair.

Waaaaay better than the first episode, I loved Saori's nightmare, it was a really good way to focus on her feelings for being Athena. I loved that she's aware of how hated she is and how bad she has behaved in the past, since Eris' words that she isn't someone who people would protect hit her on the right spot. Touché. I always got the impression that Saori's supposed arrogance was partially a lack of social ability. Even when she's acting proud as Athena, I feel she's more pretending/trying hard than actually being god-like.

Okay, several hours ago I saw this episode at last! :) Time for my thoughts on it.

Generally speaking I liked it more than the previous episode. It seemed less chaotic and more consistent, plus we could see more characters, both those known from the original series (Jabu, Milo, Aiolia), and those who were introduced in Saintia Sho (Mayura, Mirai, Cinato). I was mostly happy to see Jabu's attack on Toki and of course Mayura in action!

We mustn't forget about one detail that really warms my heart: Gold Saints' Cloths and artstyle used to potrait them. They look beautiful, they shine and they simply look outstanding.

From other good things, I enjoyed seeing Athena's nightmares. The way they were portrayed and how true they were was fascinating, plus we could hear some of Eris' point of view on Athena's mission and existence. Although the most emotional were the scenes with Toki complaining about the fate of all orphans sent to train in order to become Saints. This theme was something I waited for to be showed more, so I was glad it appeared in the manga in the form it appeared there. Anime's adaptation was good and clearly showed that the fate of orphans was really harsh: hard training with great possibility that most of these boys won't survive it and will never return to Japan.

What were bad things? First of all, another rushed episode. It was rushed slightly less intensive than the first one, but it doesn't change the fact that the rush actually happened again. Next, Mii's character was not developed further. In example, in the manga wven when they rode inside that limo, we could learn more about Shoko's oppinion on Mii and see more of Mii in general. Here we only heard about manners and that's all, but oh well, if Mii's character development was skipped previously, then I didn't expect it to be showed in the limousine scene, to be honest.

The worst thing that was skipped in the anime adaptation was the moment of Shoko meeting Mirai and Cinato. In the manga it was really a fine moment: it showed the hardship of the place in which Shoko was sent to train, introduced Mirai and Cinato and presented some more information about who were they, we could see Shoko's determination and some other things... while in the anime we went straight to the moment when Mayura appeared along with her disciples and started her exorcism (it looked cool, by the way, same goes with Mayura's attacks).

The snake was fine as well, I liked how he whispered to Shoko and tempted her to abandon Saintia's ideals.

It was not that much of a problem for me (who read the manga) to know who is Mirai and Cinato, but anime-only viewers, I believe, will only remember them as these guys near Mayura, propably her disciples.

In conclusion, this episode was better than the first one, but it's still a long road before calling this anime as "very good" or higher. The biggest ills are for sure: rushed action and lack of characters' presentation or development. Sure, people familiar with the manga can fully enjoy Saintia Sho's anime, but I'm afraid that anime-only viewers or generally speaking people new to Saint Seiya's universe will find these problems I mentioned above as something disencouraging to watch more of Saint Seiya or even watch Saintia Sho.

An overall improvement from last episode. I'm digging this more than that first episode, glad I decided to stay.

I'd love to see Shouko's growth in this Anime

I felt this episode was paced perfectly! Sure, it removed some manga material from what I'm reading in this thread but in no way did it feel rushed to me. It was fast paced in a good way! And, I loved it. I really liked the good stuff in the last episode that promised so much of what I love in the original coming back, but this episode was all I could ever want! It was so great! It made me tear up, it made me amazed, and it made my heart warm as heck!

So, as some have mentioned, the focus on characters that lacked focus in the original is great. Like seriously, the only bronze saint in this anime right now is Unicorn Jabu! Jabu!! HAHAHA, he was such a small part of the original but he always such a good boy so to see him unicorn gallop his way in to save Saori was perfect. He was always likable, I hope we get to see more of him, and with this running at the same time as the original once the Galaxian Wars start assumedly, it would seem that the secondary bronze saints could all get some much needed screen time.

Further, exploring a weak Saori like this is freaking awesome. We saw her develop in the original but to have first hand experiences of her nightmare, and doubt is really something exceptional. She's so human and because of that her compassion and resolve end up feeling so much more impactful already! The Berserk-esque imagery of her on a pile of her followers bodies was chilling. Just like how Shoko is a non saint currently, Saori isn't prepared or used to confronting these kinds of hardships and sorrows.

The Toki scene was so wonderful. Seriously. It really reminded me of the Centaurus Babel scene from the original. Just this time Saori wasn't so strong and confident. She was forced to face the truth of what Eris was confronting her about head on and despite that, to show him that she meant no harm and had only sympathy for him, she placed her staff down and embraced him. She made herself completely defenseless. And, while it worked, she was crying herself. It clearly hurts her to see her saints like this...

This leads to the evil seeds which connects both the Toki scene to the Shoko scene. Eris is unleashing seeds that represent hatred or anguish or anger or spitefulness or whatever it may be inside of those humans who are discontent. Shoko is fated so hers may not be the exact same but the loss of her sister which she was stuck thinking about even in the limo seemed to spark hers. Toki's was sparked in a way similar to
Both were separated from their loved ones and put through immense hardship. Both felt hatred and wanted revenge against Saori. And, in both cases, cosmos, or hope and love and all that is good is what won against those evil seeds.

Shoko had to get over her personal interest and desire for power and instead embrace altruism and self sacrifice to break the seal put on her. When people ignite their cosmos and embrace good that is when the evil seeds seem to shatter! Likewise, when Toki who was filled with hatred and sadness and vengeance had seeked out to take revenge on Saori but saw the person he wanted to kill truly had pure sympathy and compassion for him it sparked hope in him and made him realize his anger was misplaced. Just like
Here we had Toki pass on from his ghost form when his strong wish for revenge vanished due to Saori's kindness.

Shoko seems to be going through a similar conflict as Hyoga did in the original.

I also thought, although Mii apparently should have more characterization, that she was characterized quite well this episode. She showed that she is supportive but hesitant for Shoko to become a saint and that she is clearly very indebted to Saori and takes her role as a Saint seriously. She's by her side all the time, making tea, combing her hair, she treats being a saint as a duty and a strict one at that!

When we saw Arles in the Sanctuary and the gold saints spoke about needing to act soon against Eris it hit me that this is seriously my favorite arc in the original! I hadn't thought about how cool it would be for this to run alongside it. Arles and Eris both being a supposed focal point! Cool!

P.S. I'm glad the cloth boxes are back.

I was wondering about it today as well and I asked myself the same question.

I would love to see as much episodes as it is possible, especially when the story is so rich in the manga. Amount of 24 episodes might be acceptable, though I would opt for more of them to prevent two things: rushed story (compared to the pace in the manga), and propability of chaotic direction of episodes due to rushed story I mentioned earlier.

I just hope we won't get only around 12 rushed episodes... But oh well, time will tell. Now we just need to wait for official information about how many episodes Saintia Sho is going to have.

@gfsdfgsdgsdfgs I'm pretty sure "Arles" doesn't exist in the Shô manga. Did they truly inserted this "intrigue" in the ONA?

PS: the boxes are called "Pandora boxes".

He is in Sho as far as appearances

Weird... maybe a translation mistake since there is no Arles/pseudo-Pope in the manga (just like in Kurumada's where there is only Saga).

He is in Sho as far as appearances and later he is seen giving orders! :D I'm unsure what his role will be, with him being a focal point of the original I doubt much, but for him to be having a presence while the story is ongoing is quite awesome.

The next episode actually refers to them as pandora boxes and I hadn't known that until then. Cool.

Looks like this anime is following the original source not the Toei anime lol. Much better than the first episode, pacing was good this time. I'm worried that the anime is only 10 episodes and there's a lot of characters.
