| WAY better than episode 1. This one feels like it had better pacing. The fight between Soma and Alice definetely demanded to be a 2 parter, but this was definetely less dramatic and suspenseful and had less informations going on, therefore it was more fit to be adapted into a single episode. Also, they left out the outcome as a cliffhanger, which also helped. The backstory for Ryo and Alice felt a bit rushed, but the rest had the right pacing. I still think there are some annoying static images, but better in that department as well. Really enjoyed the episode, much closer to the quality of season 1. On a side note, a funny thing in the Jojo reference is lost in translation: the battle cry of Ryo during the stand punching is EBIEBIEBIEBIEBI which translates into SHRIMPSHRIMPSHRIMPSHRIMP while Megumi shouts SCALLOPSCALLOPSCALLOPSCALLOPS, a nod to the iconic HORAHORAHORA and MUDAMUDAMUDA of Jojo. |

LMAO at Ryou being the "No soup for you!" guy as a kid. LMAO at Ryou throwing the menu at the dudes face. LMAO at old dude about to faint. LMAO at jiji going topless without being touched. Megumi is trying Ryou's food. Damn! Ryou got Megumi twerking. LMAO at the JoJo reference. Dat ending. Jiji is about to pick a winner. Nice ED theme. nano.RIPE with another great song. |

| That Jojo reference, so good. Megumi has grown so much from the first episodes of the first season where she needed Souma to carry her, she definitely can stand her ground by herself now. Awesome episode |

| Ryou's such a force to be reckoned with in his kitchen at such an early age that I'd even suggest that Shinomiya should take notes from him when it comes to powering over his employees. With how rich the flavor of Ryou's ramen was, Megumi's dish initially looked like it would be the polar opposite in terms of impact since she made a mild broth but it ended up giving the judges a kick that was just as strong. It actually looked like the competition's so even that a draw wouldn't be surprising but Megumi being overpowered by her opponent's dish for a second there kinda hinted about who will be the winner. I hope I'm wrong! I already thought that the delinquent bit was already cool enough but that Jojo reference hit me out of nowhere like a truck. That one scene was one of the best things I've ever seen in a while and it absolutely made my day! |

| Lol, that Jojo reference right there in full glory. Megumi's got some fight in her, huh? Good to see. Ryo telling Alice to say those lines once she beats him in cooking is highly intriguing and surprising at the same time. Damn, that backstory though. I was wondering why Nabuhiko Okamoto-san was playing this character at first but now I've no doubts lol. |

| I thought this episode was great and a lot better than the first one. Better visuals for sure, with some actually cool reaction shots compared to the timid premiere, with some delinquent shit between Ryo and the Director and then the masterpiece reaction that was the JoJo reference at the end. Also liked Megumi actually standing toe to toe with one of the most promising cooks of the entire tournament and competing her ass off with a great ramen dish. She was probably the most disrespected contestant of the whole pool of students in the Qualifiers for her actual cooking ability compared to Soma who was booed for his cockiness, but she's shutting those guys up with how much she's grown in confidence and skill, holding her own in the actual tournament as those who criticize her can only do so from the stands. |
| J.C. Staff really knows how to kill off the tension with the immediate competitions. If they had spent the first 2-3 episodes for the off-session, then the pleasure going into The Autumn Selection's finale would be much better. I don't know whether the manga did it right, but certainly that recollection of Yukihira Souma in the very predecessor is an evidence. Also, they forgot to introduce the judges. What a shame. The first season had itself done to the very little details. Even the Rush movie wasn't being rushed like this. |
