| What are your most honorable anime deaths? Here are mine, I've undoubtedly missed out quite a few but these are just the ones that I thought of immediately. Maybe add a short sentence explaining why their deaths were honorable. | Just gonna go down my list here: Otonashi from Angel Beats; for taking care of the other people around him to the very end. Shiro from Blue Exorcist; because more anime dads need to be like him! Lelouch from Code Geass; because reasons. Rider from Fate/Zero; for being one of, if not the best, characters in the show and not stepping down! Buckaneer and Old Man Fuu from FMAB; for being bad-asses and fighting even tho they knew they couldn't win, just so the others had a chance to. Megu-nee from Gakkougurashi; protecting her students from zombies at the cost of her own life. Jonathan from JoJo; sacrificed himself to save his wife, unborn child and another passengers child from an exploding ship. Lockon from Gundam 00; because 'LOCKON! LOCKON!' thats why! Jiraiya from Naruto Shippuden; for trying to save his student to the very end. Kittan from Gurren Lagann; because he knew his actions would kill him and he still did it; Kamina's is just as sad tho. |

| Since I just ended Kidô Senshi Gundam / The Origin, I am tempted to nominate Dozle Zabi, who fight until the end despite the fact he knows how it will end (+ he buys time for his soldiers to escape). Maybe Ramba Ral, but I'm not sure if the term "honorable" portrayed the death correctly since he only killed himself. |

He had no reason for living and was borderline suicidal, even threatening to shoot himself in front of C.C with a straight face. Those points were made clear several times in the series. Would you call a suicidal person killing themselves noble even if it was for someone else's sake? If that person did it for others, it would be a win-win situation and even if he killed himself just for his own sake, he would still win. To but it bluntly, if Lelouch killed himself, he had pretty much nothing to loose apart from maybe not being able to take care of his sister, because he's dead. It's not a sacrifice, it's not noble and it's not some sort of glorious martyr death as people make it out to be. This itself would be fine, but the fact that the series itself tried to make Lelouch seem like a great hero and gave such an idealistic and unrealistically sappy happy ending where a war criminal could run to high school in the morning with a toast in their mouth was absolutely laughable. The second part of my comment was mostly a salty joke, because the best character of the series got killed by the worst character of the series aka Suzaku, the king of tools. Damn Lelouch, why didn't you change your plan so that the world could get rid of Suzaku? So many of the characters in Code Geass were massive tools anyway so it would have been more fitting to make the mightiest tool of them all to lead them. Also his Sister wasn't the priority anymore by the time the show ended. Instead of being selfish and thinking of only his sister he changed thoughout the series to look at the bigger picture. So considering his sacrifice wasn't totally in vain and was done with noble intentions, I would call that an honorable death. |
