Hmm weird episode. I got some ideas major mech vibes from this especially with the giant robot and sci-fi themes.

Seriously though, it's like a clash of titans but with machines. Oh well, I kinda expected episodes like this would get featured in a show like this.
It's kinda fun.

It's Willwear against first generation of Giant Robot for the first "Round" and then finally Giant Robot against the same kind. Oh well, if only the Willwear finish it faster.

Power Rangers Megazoid is strong within this one
"I lost all of what you could call feelings of love. They weren't sealed, so they can't be released. They weren't broken, so they can't be fixed. That which is lost, cannot be recovered." Shiba Tatsuya
"There are no regrets. If one can be proud of one's life, one should not wish for another chance." Saber
"No matter what happens, no matter how crazy things get, I'll always try to restore balance." Korra
"It's madness to let others take what's yours and accept it blindly." Baatar Jr
"Instinct is a lie, told by a fearful body, hoping to be wrong." Zaheer
"Partner in crime, partner in time" Chloe Price and Max Caulfield

A bit different from the usual episode, but it appealed to the mecha theme. It was nice seeing the featured giant robots go against each other.

Actually kind of a nice episode. Above all else, it did give us some backstory on one of the characters, and in this world before Willwears became a thing mechs were the big craze.

It's my favorite episode so far.

For those who grew up watching giant robots, the nostalgia effect works well.

Otherwise, it was interesting to see the old man get some extra development.

Man this episode hit me really hard.

I can put myself in their shoes when 20 years down the line mecha will become a nostalgia of past, telling juniors about my dreams of becoming a mecha pilot or at least an engineer making one.

That's exactly it. The feels were stronggg with this one. I know it was manipulative and I don't even care. Doctor redeems a young troublemaker in the past, who grows up with the dream of being a mecha pilot, and finally gets to live out his dream while the doctor gets one last good lucid day without dementia to fix his creation?

I must be getting SUPER old, because wow this hit me right in the chest. Easily the best episode for the emotional aspects, and this is coming from someone who enjoys the "Power Ranger" aspects of the show. Of course, the target audience is probably people who love mecha and action series, or grew up with such series, and probably see themselves in the crowd at the beginning lol. I know I did.

This show can go full Dragonaut at this point and I'd still give it a high grade.

This episode looks very much like a vindication of those who in the eighties dreamed and hoped that in the near future, their dreams remain those who had imagined child, a nostalgia that was then clashed with the evolution of the concept of robots and modern society . Narratively takes some concept dear to the Japanese, but the good thing is that it has given a bit of characterization to the character of Funasaka. The clash in the final I really remember what you saw in the anime series of the past, as well as the water output of the latter is a clear reference to the anime series of "Mazinger Z".

This episode was actually pretty good, and so were the last few as well, seems this show might be starting to pick up.

I liked how Morgan and Drew weren't animated in CG, while previous mechs in the show were, trying to do a tribute to classic mech animation.

I'm not a big fan of this series, but for me, this episode was the best BY FAR. Maybe it because I'm old too :)

I really like how much this episode was a send-up of old mecha. Funasaka yelling out the attack name for the drill punch and then having its arm ripped off was pretty hilarious. then Drew was completely useless, because it had no other weapons. and finally, Morgan defeated because it ran out of fuel. it's like every basic, logical reason why mechs wouldn't work in real life thrown in and taken seriously. as a fan of mech shows, it hit some good spots. some real SamFlam vibes from this ep, especially the intentionally generic mech designs.

I have to agree, this was easily the best episode so far. The emotional impact was quite strong as well.

I feel like this show has potential, it is simply taking its time to get there. The characters are getting introduced, the world is being built, there's something good coming on the horizon. I just hope we don't have to wait too much longer.
