FINALLY! 6 or 7 episodes waiting for this meeting! Ok the episodes were full of chaos and havoc, but still they felt a little slow, but now I'm excited!
Lol, I love how the previous episodes don't count as action! I agree though, it only really happens once the strong guys fight each other, normal men like you and I don't count for shit ;)
Behold of my awesomeness~
controversial and/or sensitive topics likely devolve into the same repetitive, derogatory, abusive, and harassing comments can no longer be posted.
But my feels.
fuck that spandam. he's such an asshole and i hope he gets sent to impel down.
looks like everyone else is making good progress! hope sogeking is doing alright though lol...
and it looks like a good fight is starting soon!

Spandam is very interesting in a way. He himself is absolutely boring and one dimensional and a joke of a character. I don’t like how he turned Buggy to Hitler like he did when he got all the power in single stroke. But, he is still interesting because of his relationship to others. As Robin brought up, why would Aokiji help such a joke of a person, and it’s something Spandam must realize too because he was so insecure about it, he beat a tied up defenseless woman over it. And further to Aokiji seemingly using him as a puppet, his own people CP9 only go along with him for the power it grants them to enact their justice. They don’t care about the status or authority Spandam wants. They don’t even seem to respect him at all. He’s being used by his people and by his superior and it makes me wonder, why. It’s scary because this is a lot of strings being pulled. I wonder if Aokiji and the CP9 members are closer than we think and Spandam is the middle man. I’m just fascinated over the fact that he’s such a boring villain made incredibly interesting because of his connections to others.
When Spandam told Robin that he was going to break their promise I thought he signed his death wish. She could spawn some arms on him and snap his little neck. And she didn’t and it made me wonder. She even remincened on bustercall and foreshadowed the day we see her flashback episodes. But then it became clear. She’s in sea prism cuffs! She’s literally useless right now. That leads to a problem I have, HOW COME THEY DON’T USE SEA PRISM DEFENSES ON A GOVERNMENT ISLAND LIKE THIS WHEN DEVIL FRUIT USERS ARE THE STRONGEST THREAT TO THEM?! Use some sea prism nets, make some sea prism hallways I don’t know. You guys are the world government you can afford it. Use sea prism bullets. They have to exist! Why is the only sea prism thing at this entire base one pair of handcuffs that Robins in. This place is so unorganized and not well thought out, at least in my understanding. We don’t fully understand sea prism stones yet and I’m pretty sure the sea prism net was from a filler. A great idea from a filler nonetheless. To add to the outrage over how dumb this place is ran, the chief of justice still hasn't changed any defensive plans ever since he appeared, and not a single person has ran to warn Spandam on the fact that thousands of his men are being wiped out every second. Are we serious, of course that’s a good reason to interrupt a superior, this could be the difference between winning and losing this fight. The contrived nature of Enies Lobby is honestly my biggest criticism of this arc. It’s just outrageous.
Blueno was the first to realize something was up. He himself felt how strong Sanji was as he almost broke his iron body with a single kick. There was no way Luffy would only take out 5 men. He’s showing he’s smart and aware and careful and observant in how he noticed the phone off the receiver. His encounter with Luffy led to one of my favorite things about Luffy’s character. Luffy learned from Shanks to pick his battles wisely and this serious line in the sand that he’s drawn changes him from his fun loving, carefree self who lets things bounce off him, to a bloodthirsty hero for his friends and his ideals. When someone hurts his nakama, or insults someones dream, or hurts someone's treasure he will go nuts, not unlike when Shanks let those barbarians mess with him until they went too far, or when Luffy emulated this with Bellamy. And I think this encounter with Blueno exemplified it. Luffy was amazed by the air door and all and wasn’t very serious, in fact he was amazed. But when he realized who Blueno was and let it sink in that he was going to stop him from saving Robin he clenched his fist and gave us one of his rare, but insanely admirable serious lines, “How long are you planning to keep fighting?”, “Until I die.”. I love it so much when someone crosses a line and he helps them redeem themselves in whatever way he can, or when someone does and he puts his foot down and chooses to be serious.
I think this is the terrain that Luffy’s at in the opening where he goes red. :O Time to red slap Blueno?!
Zoro and Sanji easily dodged bullets like it was nothing, if they have problems against non sharpshooters in the future I’m going to be mad.
The backstory of the king bulls is adorable. I wonder where Usopp is, I hadn’t realized he didn’t get on myself.. In fact I was sure he did.
The shipwrights, mostly Paulie, are really nice supporting characters. Seeing them fight off the hordes of guys believing in Luffy is so great. I love Paulie, I wouldn’t mind if he became a recurring character by any means! And Iceberg and Franky and Kokoro and Chimney are so awesome too! This arc’s world building and supporting cast are honestly Alabasta tier. You can root for them all. That’s not even counting Tom in the backstory episodes.
It was hard to watch Robin getting beaten up so badly especially after she's found about the Government's inevitable betrayal done by exploiting a loophole in her sacrificial deal...
The Marines of Enies Lobby are utterly worthless against the 3-Way Straw Hat Alliance but there's nearly no end to the fodder. It's only a matter of time until they end up getting overwhelmed by their numbers if they don't wrap up soon.
Luffy's finally gonna fight against someone competent and it's the bastard who dragged Robin back into this mess.
Finally Luffy realised he just needs to jump and swing his way to the final building and ignore all the grunts. I've been thinking this for several episodes. lol
Ah well the wait is over and we finally have a worthy opponent. Shit's about to get real xD
Robin got scammed 💀 well technically no but yes? it's a scam for how twisted it is and because they knew this isn't what she signed up for lol so yeah
That's how you end an episode
"How long are you planning to keep fighting?"
Sorry but the scene where he kept hitting Nico was absolutely cringe and absolutely serve no purpose other than purposely making the viewers sad. There were multiple other ways to make him appear savage and make this scene impactful to the viewers without needlessly trying to shock them. I hate when an author is out of ideas and just use this kind of tactic just because it is easier. Worst episode of the arc so far.

@Yubisoft Needlessly shock? Believe me, in the real world a situation like this would go way worse than a few kicks. No need to cleanse media of all uncomfortable violence.

@Rensie This is not real world, this is fantasy. And yes I can't excuse poor writing because it seems the mangaka in these chapters couldn't think of another way to attract the reader's attention. The violence on that episode went too far. Learn to tell the difference between Hollywood and anime. Of course cringe violence in this episode contributed nothing to the plot of this episode because if ithe excessive violence did I wouldn't complain, it's just the classic shock value element that so many writers use it (to bombard the viewers with the same action of abuse over and over again) as a cheap way to attract the viewers attention.
Balance ≠ ''cleansing''

@Yubisoft Learn to tell the difference between Hollywood and Anime? You have lots really violent (in the way you call cringe) anime and really tame/PG Hollywood movies, that is just a nonexistent difference you make, and is colored by the kind of anime you watch (which is totally fine). For me the violence wasn't too far, I can on top of my head name 50 ANIME with more shocking stuff, and yes also for the same kind of audience.. Oda wanted to show this character is really weak but has the position of power to do terrible stuff when he knows he person on the receiving end (who normally can beat him to pulp) can't fight back. Is it nuanced? No, but it can be a powerful message to the target audience this show is written for, this series is full of what you call 'classic elements', (one of the lesser subtle series in general in all kind of scenes tbh) and i don't think it's as bad here as you make it out to be.
This will be an agree to disagree situation, i guess we just have a different take on what we are bothered by.
Sounds like Spandam’s never gonna hold his end of his bargain to Nico Robin ever. Because the Straw Hats are insistent on saving her and broke into Enies Lobby they basically made the deal null and void all because Spandam is ending the deal on a technicality just like that. What a load of crap on his part. Nico Robin had been had the moment she arrived in Enies Lobby. How a slime ball like him ended up on the top of the commanding pecking order of CP9 is beyond me. Well at the very least it seems nobody cares other than that Kumadori dude willing to help Spandam when he gets attacked again by Frankie, even Lucci thinks little of Spandam just outright threatens to kill him as the other members and him are leaving the meeting.
Not only that he missed quite a few reports from the Marine soldiers but the casualties that Luffy took out in the process while all this was going on and it appears Blueno as well as Fukuro actually paid attention to what was going on outside the tower and got suspicious about what was really happening. Spandam being the idiot as is actually knocked the receiver of the Transponder Snail off the hook meaning the rest of CP9 apart from Spandam who was having his little rant of…well delusions of grandeur I guess, could literally hear everything that was going on outside the tower. And it looks like Blueno is gunning for Luffy now who’s literally arrived at the tower. As fun as him running away from Marines was I do really think we need to move on and have Luffy go to the tower by stretching which I’m glad this episode did do with him.
Oh by the way, Luffy’s response to Blueno before the ending? Stone cold awesome I’d say. There’s a point where Luffy will indeed get serious when the situation calls for it and while he had been awed by Blueno’s door door abilities, he did get a serious look on his face when Blueno was gonna harm Nico Robin. So yeah we are going to have a big fight now and against one of the CP9 members at that for the next episode. I will say the backstory about the King Bull was pretty cute. Otherwise I’m really looking forward to Luffy’s fight with Blueno. It’s gonna be great I just know it.
