| THIS IS AN ANIME ONLY DISCUSSION POST. DO NOT DISCUSS THE MANGA BEYOND THIS EPISODE. ---------------------------------------- Pretty intense episode.. With all the background buildup, I'd expect Leon and Herman to take the fight with their quest really soon. Emma also has plans of her own despite working alone. Also found Alfonso's connection with Leon to be interesting to watch this episode. Interesting info about Mendoza this episode as well. I found it a bit disturbing with the way that his generation is passed down. Shit's about to go down now though as the guys takes the fight deep into enemy territory. I'm really excited for this upcoming fight. |

| Art/Animation: Nothing too spectacular this week but nothing to complain about either. Sound: I feel like I shouldn't even do sound section anymore when I am just gonna say the same thing every week. It's great! Story+Characters: Mostly build up. Though it did flesh out some characters very well. We got a bit of Mendoza's backstory, why he hates the makai knights so damn much. So he originally was an alchemist who wanted to overthrow the humans but because that goes against their order, they cursed him and any children he has so that he could never be a warlock again. I thought his backstory was actually pretty brutal overall, he killed his wife and son because if he didn't, they would find out that he's technically a warlock and they'd likely have him tortured and killed. Yipes. No wonder he hates the Makai Knights so much, they pretty much forced him to never bare children. The interactions between the 4 protagonists Leon, Alfonso, Herman and Ema were great. I thought it was an odd contrast with Mendoza's backstory. The back and forth of the tone wasn't too jarring luckily. Regardless, I love how Herman thinks Alfonso is his bastard son and they just let him feel sadness for laughs. Given what a womanizer Herman is, I guess he kinda deserves it. Also, when he was kicked off the edge of the cliff, that was so looney toons. Storming the castle too, I didn't expect them to jump right to it right away but this pleases me greatly. No more bullshit, just right to the objective. Can't wait for the fight next week. |
| Loving the buildup to what I hope is an exciting midseason climax We can't expect Herman, Leon, and Alfonso's assault on the castle to go smoothly after all It seems the show has found its identity since Herman and Leon have entered the capital/developed Alfonso and has only been getting better since then |
| Pretty decent episode. I must say while I think mendoza's methods are a bit extreme but on some level I do agree with him. I believe it was ok for them to curse him but cursing his descendants was taking it a bit too far. Moreover I have always thought why did the captured makai knights and alchemists never fight back. Deliberately hurting people is bad sure but just allowing yourself to be killed like that is stupidity. So in a way i guess mendoza's rage is justified. As for the black knight I just think he is jealous because herman got anna and so he wants to fight him. Herman was awesome as always he is by far the best character in the series |

| That man, who only thinks of his lower half xD Herman proves it again! The stronger the punishment, the stronger it bites back :/ Mendoza getting banished and getting all his generations cursed! I almost felt he would change a little if his baby was okay though he did make use of his horrors. Herman thinking Anna betrayed him! I really wonder how Herman was when he was with Anna. Doubt he would open like this which makes it interesting though we did get to see a little before. Those horrors coming out of their eggs, thought of HxH a little. An interesting fight is coming. |

| How is Mendoza able to hide the markings on his skin from the curse? If he could hide them, surely he could have his (now deceased) son's markings hidden as well, and he wouldn't have to kill his son and wife. |

| What an awesome episode. Leon and Alfonso join together to defeat Mendoza. Got some ugly marks on Mendoza. Everyone in his bloodline will have it. They're finally inside the castle and look who they stumble in to. Looks like Herman will be the one fighting the Dark Knight. |

So maybe, just maybe, Leon is the son of Mendoza. |

The brand won't affect them if they live as ordinary people. The curse makes sense, because the Makai apparently are not allowed to punish Mendoza by the laws of humans (which is death), but the old lady cursed him and his kids to live only as humans - the same folk Mendoza dared to use/kill in his experiments but whose lives he should have protected/cherished instead. I think the brand on the children could be seen only by the Makai or if the Makai are close. |

| Episode alleging that lacked the motivation to balance the situation in the plot, but in hindsight there is something strange, does not add up. If one remembers the signs that Mendoza has on the course resemble those which Leon. Then who knows that there is around a child of Mendoza. The narrative remains good despite having a parenthesis comic in the middle of the story, the same applies to designs and animations. This time the drawings are even more beautiful, because it made very carefully, perhaps not having much CG to be used have spent the money on them. This anime is still one of my favorites. |

| Bernardo is back, and finally he faces off with German. This will prove to be interesting on the next episode. I still wonder if Bernardo is possessed or something, can't wait to hear his thorough backstory. |
