Tons of blood, gore, and nudity. A lot of the villains in both share the same powers, and the art styles are very similar, which makes sense given the director.

The main protagonist in both anime are vampires that are fighting against various nightmarish creatures and are fighting on the side of all that is good. Both have a similar female character that helps fights vampires. They also have a similar dark and gritty tone with lots of action, blood and gore. If you like one, you will enjoy the other.

Vampires are scary, with blood and gore everywhere. Neither series shies away from the blood and gore, but they also put a level of humanity into the picture bringing into the picture this idea that there is more to the vampire than just a blood thirsty monster with no thought of anything but survival. Scratch that, survival is still a major proponent, but it is no longer about just looking out for oneself as both series present vampires as a having some form of group effort. This isn't a unique trait, yet for these series which are older series from Japan, that is one of  read more

I don't know why, but amazing visuals, fast-paced action, gorgeous sound, attention to detail. Well basically they don't make them like they used too. Other than that, not too similar at all.

The 3rd part of Cyber City Oedo is pretty much the same in art style and characters design. Plus they both have vampires, spaceships and cyberpunk atmosphere.

Both main characters are half human, half vampires in quest against all vampires.

Dark gothic style future and allmighty vampires - great cocktail for fans of bloodsuckers.

Blood and Vampire Hunter D are very similar in themes and execution. They both follow a human-vampire hybrid main character whose mission is hunting down and killing other vampires. They're both quite violent and action-packed, and are even made in the same year.

Even though Mononoke takes place in a classical, japanese setting, the two stories have a lot in common. First of all, they are both horror tales, but neither relies on actually scaring the viewer. You are afraid because of the atmosphere, the haunting music, the weird art style, the unknown, shady parts of the world. In both cases, we know little of the protagonist, beside the fact that he has a unique style, strong connection to the hunted creatures (vampires, demons - it is said that D is a half-vampire, and it is hinted that Medicine Seller might be a half-kitsune.), and a strange, hard-to-follow character  read more

In both anime, the main protagonist has a symbiotic partner with their hand. D has Left Hand and Shinichi Izumi has Migi. Left Hand and Migi have their own unique personality and has a bond with the main character. They are also horror action-packed anime with blood and gore. Both titles are also animated by Madhouse. The difference between the two is that Parasyte has aliens while Vampire Hunter D: Bloodlust has vampires and other monsters. If you enjoyed one, you will enjoy the other.

Both films are directed by Yoshiaki Kawajiri and are animated by Madhouse. They both have a similar dark and gritty atmosphere. As well as similar art, animation, and a similar vibe. Both films have the main protagonist battling against various nightmarish creatures. They are both action-packed anime with blood and gore. Differences between the two are that Wicked City is way more explicit than Vampire Hunter D: Bloodlust. If you like one, you should enjoy the other.

Both are based around vampire themed stories, with a gothic twist to them and both share elements of action and moments of drama too. And also both have really nice to look at artstyles and character designs too.

Both are about an vampire with long dark hair that both use a sword and they both have to fight to control their blood lust. They also have a pretty female sidekick in each. Black Blood Brothers has a bit more of a comedic side while Vampire Hunter D is a bit more serious.

Despite being very different tonally, both works provide some of the best romances in anime, depicting an immortal in love with a mortal and the pains that come with it. The discrimination faced due to these abnormal relationships is also a big aspect in both stories. D and Dragon Maid both place value in karma and community - helping others through your unique talents and being repayed in times of need - this being the reason D is able to remain optimistic despite his world being significantly darker than that of Kobayashi's Dragon Maid. The two were also created by famed directors known for their unique passionate  read more

Humans against monsters, and there's a person who standing between these two species. Even though he is not fully human, he is fighting the monsters to reach his goal Vampire Hunter D and Bio Hunter are classic anime that worth watching. The main difference between these two is Bio Hunter is a sci-fi anime meanwhile Vampire Hunter D is a supernatural anime

If you need another slickly stylized and beautifully animated post-apocalyptic horror action anime from the same director, Vampire Hunter D: Bloodlust is a great choice. Both stories' heroes face incredible odds against powerful enemies and constant threats. One big difference: Shinjuku has a more 80s-era colorful art style and its hero is hero is trying to save not only a young woman but also the world.

These two anime focus on people trying to hunt down and kill other powerful monsters. They are both set in a world with other powerful evil creatures and that are threat to humanity.

Memories' episode "Magnetic Rose" also takes place in the distant future, where the protagonists must fight against illusions in an ornate castle belonging to a mysterious noblewoman. Both have phenomenal art quality.

These anime feature a great attention to detail to capture their respective gothic aesthetics and religious allusions. ‘Vampire Hunter D’ focuses more on horror with its vampire conflict whereas ‘Angel’s Egg’ is more bleak and surreal.

Two anime offering a full gothic atmosphere , the story is oriented to dark fantasy in both, and the main characters ( D and The Count of Monte Cristo ) share more than one thing ( the physical look is very similar , the same charisma emerges from both , the same noble air and our two heroes use dark powers to achieve their goals ).

Both Dante and D are kind of a loner that follow their own paths and hunt down other monsters. They both have a gothic atmosphere and monsters with unique powers. They are also both action-packed anime with blood and gore. Devil May Cry and Vampire Hunter D: Bloodlust are also animated by Madhouse. If you enjoyed one, you will enjoy the other.

Although Vampire Hunter D isn't a fighting game adaptation, to me it has got the same great gothic feeling- a world that is a mixture of Medievil times and some technilogies.

The two are similar in that both are sci-fi(also fantasy in the case of Vampire Hunter D) action-adventure stories with a rather powerful main character, who is covered in mystery and leaves an impact on the people he meets.

The main character is monster hunter and is not human too. Both anime have a dark atmosphere and violance scenes.

Both are the kind of thing you'd show to someone who isn't really into anime. You've got a kind of dark post-apocalyptic setting (though the mood is decidedly different throughout) with healthy doses of blood and violence. Both have beautiful art and animation with similar art direction and character design. Not only do these two works appeal to a western audience, but they are clearly directly aiming for that worldwide market in the best kind of way.

Both have Vampires, Sci-fi, sad love story. Vampire Hunter is far more powerful though.

Afro Samurai and Vampire Hunter D: Bloodlust are action anime that don't really lay an unnecessarily large focus on their stories and characterization, but decide to please the audience with beautiful and occasionally stunning animation as well as visually innovative battle sequences. Sword-wielding and silent-but-deadly protagonists that enter some stupendous fights are also a shared phenomena in both series. If you liked watching one of the shows I highly recommend trying out the other one as well.

Madhouse is a great studio. Just look at this two movies they made. Vampire Hunter D and Metropolis, in they are so different, yet each have great animation, detailed art style, rich backgrounds, vise use of digital technologies. I think it is something to be praised. Also both movies have talented directors, Rintaro did Metropolis and Kawajiri did Vampire Hunter. Metropolis came one year after Vampire Hunter, so Madhouse was on a roll back then.
