Synopsis

Ever since he lost his family in an explosion, Mirai Kakehashi has lived a life of pain and despair. Every day, he endures abuse at the hands of the relatives who took him in. As his anguish steadily chips away at his will to live, he is eventually pushed to the brink. Prepared to throw it all away, he stands on the edge of a precipice and takes the leap. However, instead of falling to his death, he enters a trance where he meets a winged being who claims to be his guardian angel. Named Nasse, the angel offers him two priceless abilities and convinces him to go on living.

When Mirai experiences the marvel of his new powers firsthand, he gets a taste of the freedom that was locked away from him for so long. Armed with Nasse's gifts, Mirai is flung into a showdown with 12 other individuals, one of which will be chosen to become the next God. In stark contrast to when he wanted to end his life, Mirai is now prepared to do whatever it takes to protect his bleak chance at happiness, lest it be wrenched from his grasp forever.

I just finished this series and seriously it's a mind-blowing, sad and frustrating bomb all at once. I think the entire series was okay, since the characters have their own beliefs. The pacing (where the decisions kept dragging on and on and over) is pretty much realistic cuz truly, people (who wouldve been elected as a 'god candidate' would have a lot of arguments over their own opinions and such, like amongst a group of politics people probably(?). I'd like to think that the partings were reasonable, first half being about combat cuz the antagonist was more on brawns, and the second half being a ...

Mixed Feelings
I had high expectations when I first started Platinum End, especially knowing the creators’ background — it sounded really appealing. The concept was interesting at first, and the opening episodes caught my attention. However, it quickly lost its grip on my curiosity.

The powers became repetitive after a while, and I feel the angels could have played a much bigger role. The animation is pretty average, and there’s not much noticeable character development.

One thing I absolutely have to highlight, though, is the intro — OMG, easily Top 3 of all time.

The main character honestly annoyed the hell out of me, and besides him, I had a ...

Platinum End, from Tsugumi Ohba and Takeshi Obata — the same duo behind the overrated Death Note — is a textbook example of wasted potential. Great premise, terrible execution. With each episode, it got worse until it reached the most stupid and awful ending I’ve ever seen — and I’m not even calling it the worst ending ever only because the show had already proven itself to be garbage throughout; that grotesque ending was almost fitting. The characters are completely devoid of charisma, and the final third is stuffed with empty, pretentious philosophy. The script tosses out ideas it never bothers to explore. If I ...
