Synopsis

Junior high school student Kimichika Haijima moves back to his hometown, Fukui, after causing trouble in the Tokyo Junior High School volleyball club. There, he is reunited with his childhood friend, Yuni Kuroba, who possesses outstanding physical abilities, but is vulnerable under pressure. Haijima, with his overwhelming passion and talent for volleyball, forms an ace combination with Kuroba.

The two enroll at Seiin High School, where they join the volleyball club. Awaiting them are the 163 cm hot-blooded captain Shinichirou Oda, the talented and sharp-tongued vice-captain Misao Aoki and his third-year pair, and second-year students, including Akito Kanno, who is always wearing long sleeves due to his allergy to sunlight.

The newborn team breaks its former shell of weakness and becomes Fukui's rising star. This is a certain team's journey to victory, with a series of fascinating rivals standing in their way.

2.43: Seiin Koukou Danshi Volley-bu is an interesting new sports anime. Many of those watching will probably be doing so because of Haikyuu!!. They are two very different anime. Stop focusing on the comparison and watch it for what it's worth.

2.43 is a melodrama with volleyball at its core. The characters are experiencing middle school to high school growing pains and all the drama involved with being that age. It's relatable and well written for a slice of life where the characters have depth we have all experienced. Kimichika Haijima is the all star setter and Yuni Kuroba is the up-and-coming ace. TL;DR : A show that isn't worth watching but if you want to pass time, then go ahead.

note : This is my first review so bare with me here, I haven't read the manga and I'm going to compare some things to Haikyuu!! since they're both Sports Animes about Volleyball and many Haikyuu fans are watching this anime as well. I'm gonna try my best to not include spoilers apart from the 1st episode.

I heard of this anime from the r/haikyuu subreddit and was excited and curious about it, but after watching it I’m honestly, pretty disappointed after watching 3 episodes. Most people in the comment section of episodes are comparing it to Haikyuu or complaining about people comparing about how people are comparing it to Haikyuu and shipping the two MCs with each other already, and not at all about the anime itself.

Story : 5/10
The anime takes off where the two main characters are departing from each other saying their goodbyes. The pacing is pretty fast, way too fast almost. If I were to visualize it for you, it's like crossing the road looking left and right, no cars. and then you start walking at a pretty decent pace but then you get hit by a truck/ (but not get isekaid lol). The end of the 1st episode when they finish practicing some volleyball they go home and one of the characters and the Main Character, Yuni being completely clueless while the other character confronts the Main Character, Kimichika about getting angry at one of his former team mate for doing a mistake while playing volleyball and attempts suicide the next day. End of episode 1. There's pretty much nothing enjoyable or interesting in the story so far.

Art : 7/10
2.43 has the same studio as JoJo's bizarre adventure, and honestly the art is good I like the animation it's visually appealing but there's nothing much special about it.

Sound : 8/10
I absolutely love the OP and ED, it's almost the only thing good about this show so far. And also the volleyball sounds more like of a basketballs..? The spiking sound sounds way more stiffer than the normal sound of spiking or I'm probably just over speculating here or something.

Character 4/10 :
So, basically the characters are way too completely unoriginal.
Chika the Main character, looks completely like Tsukishima, has the personality of Kageyama, being a genius setter that's obsessed with volleyball and being obsessed with height like Hinata and also Yuusuke looks like Coach Ukai, And everything else is alright, there's not much character development so far. I don't know if the original creator was inspired by Haikyuu or something, but these are just speculations from me.

Overall : 6/10
I like the show it's pretty enjoyable even the fact that it's kind of bad honestly, and I don't think that I'm going to drop it. I'm interested what's going to happen or if the show is going to become better or worse as well.
