Mob Psycho 100 II

Shigeo "Mob" Kageyama is now maturing and understanding his role as a supernatural psychic that has the power to drastically affect the livelihood of others. He and his mentor Reigen Arataka continue to deal with supernatural requests from clients, whether it be exorcizing evil spirits or tackling urban legends that haunt the citizens.

While the workflow remains the same, Mob isn't just blindly following Reigen around anymore. With all his experiences as a ridiculously strong psychic, Mob's supernatural adventures now have more weight to them. Things take on a serious and darker tone as the dangers Mob and Reigen face are much more tangible and unsettling than ever before.

I like Mob Psycho 100 as a subversive coming-of-age story. It’s a tale about growing up that never becomes corny: fun, eccentric, and at the same time, deeply sensitive. All of that comes wrapped in a dynamic and insightful visual presentation.

Unlike all the absurdities of the series, Mob’s growth is subtle. After overcoming, in the first season, the dilemma of being different from others, Mob Psycho 100 II focuses on exploring the transformative power of kindness.

I like stories about people who are extremely powerful yet choose to be kind. There’s always something inspiring about that. Still, I feel that in the second season, the plots ... are less authentic and exciting than in the first. Some arcs lose their organic flow, for example, the ending feels rushed and disconnected from the rhythm the anime had built. That wouldn’t necessarily be a problem if it were well executed, but in Mob, it lost me. Especially because it ends in a battle shounen style, which isn’t really my thing.

Gosto de Mob Psycho 100 como um coming of age subversivo. É uma história sobre amadurecimento que não cai no piegas: divertida, excêntrica e, ao mesmo tempo, sensível. Tudo isso numa representação visual dinâmica e perspicaz.

Ao contrário de todos os absurdos da série, o crescimento de Mob é discreto. Depois de superar, na primeira temporada, o dilema de ser diferente dos outros, Mob Psycho 100 II se dedica a explorar o aspecto transformador da gentileza.

Gosto de histórias sobre pessoas extremamente poderosas que optam por ser gentis. Elas sempre tem algo de inspirador. Mas, ainda assim, sinto que a segunda temporada as tramas são menos autênticas e empolgantes do que as da primeira. Alguns arcos perdem organicidade, como por exemplo, o final, que é apressado e desconexo do ritmo criado pelo anime. Isso por si não é um problema quando bem executado, mas, em Mob, me perdeu. Ainda mais por terminar num battle shounen, que não é minha praia.

Mixed Feelings

The entire second season is literally carried by the fact that our previously plain water main character has obtained carbonation and is now spicy. I disliked season 1 but I had nothing better to do and this series was well-received so I thought I might as well finish S2. That being said, I do quite like Mob's growth arc. The writer at the time claimed he 'wanted to main something kind' - this was indeed achieved. Mob's insistence that people can change actually got through my blackened, shriveled, cynical misanthrope's shell. I also appreciate how rather than trying some horrific mash-up of slice of life ... and a plot, they just went straight with a plot instead. Although, the simplicity of 'here's a narcissistic bad guy who wants to take over the world' is a little dull. For this, I rate this anime a 6. If they had more creative enemies I might have considered a 7.

This show is, you know, bad. Not gonna spend a lot of time talking about this, I'll try to sum up why it fail in comparison to the first season:
1. Everyone is OP. A lot of the supporting cast and antagonists are as powerful or even more than mob, breaking the premise upon which the first season was built.
2. It's not fun. Season one was fun and didn't take itself seriously. This one tries to be more mature and cuts down on the amount of jokes, it didn't work well. The jokes that do show up come out of place or are too predictable, ... like reigen's foolish techniques, they overused this device in the first season and when it came up on the second I totally knew what was going to happen
3. All fights are between OP characters that destroy the whole scenario around, boring...

Nah, I wasted my time watching this.
