Waking up in a strange virtual world with no recollection of the past, Hakuno finds himself forced to fight for survival in a war he does not understand for a prize beyond value; the opportunity to have one's wish granted. With only an enigmatic "Servant" by his side, Hakuno Kishinami will have to face both friends and foes in battles to the death in order to not only gain possession of a mysterious object known as the "Holy Grail," but also to find the answer to the most important question of all: "Who am I?"
This is quite literally the epitome of Fate, in fact, I would go so far as to say that this is Shaft's magnum opus. Fate/Extra was always a boring game but the setting was definitely the most interesting part of the Fate series. Fate/Extra finally getting an anime, and one produced by Shaft is probably the best thing to ever happen to anything. Honestly, the fact that such a good thing came out of Fate really makes me question why the trainwreck that was Apocrypha was released at all. Imagine if the budget for a 24 episode anime like Apocrypha went into Fate/Extra, the world
would be a much better place.
Firstly, the setting is straight up the bee's knees. Rather than using the normal modern-day setting, Fate/Extra takes place in the far future inside a simulation within a moon machine god which is pretty nifty I must say. Nero is basically the best thing since sliced bread and I've honestly never seen a character so attractively animated in any anime ever besides maybe some of Shaft's other works but take that latter claim with a pinch of salt. Really, it honestly begs the question as to why any other anime even have female characters. If the animation isn't going to be as good as Shaft's then they should probably just stick to Yaoi flicks. It's almost a bit of a cop-out. The protagonist is kind of boring, I suppose you can't really blame Shaft since taking a blank slate video game protagonist and turning it into an anime character is probably difficult. He is however a million times less awful than Sieg so far. At the end of the second episode the protagonist exploded into shadow lightning while Tohsaka Rin muttered something ominous in the distance so I guess he's probably actually really cool and Shaft is throwing us a cheeky red herring.
Fate is officially over, it's never going to get better than this. Shaft saved Fate and by extension anime.
This is judging by the 2 episodes that already came out to the public..
Ahh, another Fate Series that tries to bring something new to the table with another alternative universe. The Fate Series been spitting out a lot of new series after the success of Fate Zero which mind you, it was an AMAZING series. The character has so much depth, the story was simply amazing and really brought the immersion, the music was great, and the animation was literally stunning. You would expect something great from the Fate Series after Zero but that's not what we have here. Set Apart from Fate Zero and
Fate Stay Night, the Fate Series been going downhill. You can tell they're just trying to milk the series by using it's name as much as possible. Fate/Extra Last Encore is definitely one of the worst first impression of a Fate Series I ever had.
Starting off, the trailer shows a pretty nice compelling animation that makes you want to watch it. I think most of the Fate Series have really nice animation that really captures your eyes to watch the series. But don't let the animation fool you in anyway. Animation alone can't not save you from a bad series. The first episode already start off in a very different universe than most of the Fate Series. The setting is in more the distant future? It's not really clear but it's def set in the future and almost everyone is a NPC. The setting is pretty much ??????? in the face to most fans of from the Fate Franchise. It's is so much different than your typical Holy Grail modern setting series. You can applause that they made something different instead of using the same modern setting, but the thing is it that it's just doesn't feel like it fit anywhere in the Fate Franchise at all. Moving away from the setting, you have a main character that is pretty much Bland from the start. It feels like he has no emotions at all and the depth of him is almost as deep as a puddle. He's boring to watch honestly which makes it unbearable to watch sometimes. Ahh, then there is the infamous Saber character which brings a lot of people to watch the Fate Series. Mind you, this is probably the worst Saber Character in the Fate Franchise. She's literally looks IDENTICAL to the Saber in Zero and Stay/Night but MIND YOU she's NOT the same CHARACTER. Meaning She's not KING ARTHUR but they still MADE her look like her. The REASON IS TO MILK MONEY FROM VIEWERS. This is simply FAN SERVICE but doesn't even CONNECT to the original SABER herself. On Episode 2, you can see a small port of the action scene, but it looks and feels sluggish. You're really asking yourself is this really the same Franchise from Zero and Stay Night.
I honestly LOVED Zero and Stay Night and I keep trying to support the Fate Series as much as possible. The next closest thing that is CLOSE to those series is Fate/Apocrypha due to the fact it feels it's similar and the action really makes you feel like it's the Fate Series it belongs. Fate/Apocrypha was not a great series either, but I can tell you it's much better First Impression than Fate/Extra. I'm really disappointed in Last Encore. I hope it'll get better but from where it stands, it's pretty bad.
Ok, maybe you will hate me, but I'll say it clearly: This anime is just to show the UMUface to all the World and not giving a **** about the story. Man, this is the first time I see this, even Apocrypha had character development, even 2006's Stay Night had it. This is just to overrate Nero more than she actually is.
It's so sad to see this, for real. The worst part is the fact that I'm looking at Nero so disgusted, because this studio took her just only to sell her as Fate's waifu, ignoring even Artoria, and I don't like the way that
they're only focusing on her, givin' her not logical power-ups, just making UMU here, UMU there and that thing ya know. I know UMU is part of Nero's essence, but it's not the only part.
Personally, I never liked her that much, but with this, Shaft is making me pissed about her, that I really didn't want it. I hope this changes with the release of future chapters and doesn't put Nero above the story because it has a lot of potential, for real, it's the only thing that would make Extra the good anime that they're trying to sell to us.
Well well, for a start i love Fate World in general, but with Apocrypha and now this bad show im starting to watch Fate with different eyes. Saber design is the same always its a little anoying. After the first chapters you can clearly see that it is not going to be a good series.
Is average, is a war where we have a Master and Servant and they have to win fights to get a reward. In this case they must up levels in a tower, beating Masters and they Servants to get to the last floor.
Here is one Big problem for me,
i dislike Shaft and i dont know why always use the same technique for everithing WE ARE IN 2018 !!! please Shaft upgrade.... wait wait wait Rin Design!!!!!!!!!!!???????????????????? No words...
Is the best in this anime, no beacuse is so well done, is because it does not clash as much as the rest of the show. Fine.
Ok, we have a MC good with revolutionary personality and always have this gentlement attitud like the most animes. The others characters are fine, nothing especial.
For me was soooooooooooo boooooring... WHY!! WHY!! I fucking hit my balls with a hammer after watch this...
Maybe the problem was that i had so high expectation for this new alternate Fate world and Shaft dissapointed me so much. When i remember Zero o UBW some tears fall through my eyes...
