Dragon Ball Super

IMO Dragon ball super was a downgrade from Dragon ball z & felt like an unnecessary series. However I'm glad that it was made because there are still many great parts of this show & badass moments. This series pivoted more into the Vegeta vs Goku rivalry while in DBZ Goku was stronger than Vegeta since after the saiyan saga. Ultra instinct was definetely the most hype bit about the series & some of those scenes were amazing in the TOP. However the TOP arc was filled with 20+ episodes of fights with random fighters that nobody actually cared about. It felt like they just ... reskinned the colours of 50 fighter & said their job was done. It would have been cool if they had put more effort into some of the designs but it was worth it for ultra instinct. Overall I enjoyed this show but it's not my favourite or anything.

i'm very mixed about this show. let's start with the elephant in the room. The animation. While yes, the animation is not always bad. It has a large number of episodes with unbearable animation. Not talking only about animation as per se movement, but both the animation and the art were bad in a lot of episodes. Some of those episodes were actually good, like the goku vs Hit dual episodes, where the episodes were interesting, but in the second one, there were so many scenes of absolutely unbearable animation. i'm talking about something like a kid would draw. So bad that you can't even ... look at it. And in the second episode it was the majority of the episode like this. The only instances where the animation looks good are closeups on one character. Anything else is amazingly bad.

Every time the camera is a little bit far away from the characters, they look like something a little kid would draw in kindergarten. And this is consistent throughout the entire show. In Dragon Ball Z and even the original Dragon Ball GT, it was the other way around. The animation was consistently good, with very few episodes or in between scenes that looked bad, but those were very few, and the "bad" back then was 20x better than the bad in Super. The bad in super is an insult. Now, if toei didn't had the time to polish the series, it's their fault. They could have just take their time, maybe wait for Toyotoro to finish the manga first, and then release a version that is loyal to the manga instead of making stuff up, and the manga is basically like an alternate universe. Because the story in the manga is far better. 1 example is how the manga handled the Goku Black arc VS how the anime handled it. The manga version is far superior. That is also true about the TOP.

so, if we mentioned the tournament of power already. it's both the best and the worst arc in the show. it's the best animated, for sure. While it still has instances of bad animation, its mostly consistent and looks polished. The problem is that it's boring to watch, and the majority of the fighters are weaklings anyway. it's only starts to get good in episodes 109-110. Then it gets bad again. And then it finally gets good again in episode 122. i'm intentionally not mentioning what happens to avoid spoilers.

If we sum up the TOP arc, then most of it is bad, with maybe less than 10 episodes that are worth watching. The good ones were actually before the tournament began. Even back then, there were a lot of terrible episodes, but there were others like gohan training with Piccolo and Goku training with Gohan that were good.

The only reason most people agree that its better than GT is because it's far longer. Gt had 64 episodes, but story wise, animation wise and everything else, it had much better moments while still having moments that were bad. The baby arc was amazing. The Shadow Dragons arc was great, and even the Super 17 arc was good. It was mostly at the very beginning that it was bad

overall, Dragon Ball super is subpar for Dragon Ball standards but below average in general. There are some good ideas. Hit is an interesting character. Jiren as well. The rest is subpar.

the definition of trash truly, bad planning shying away from manga which led to confusing plots, no story what so ever boring shaky screen fights with the worst impact visuals ive seen in anime history. i dont blame toriyama but man he can do better even in the manga the new sagas are just alt senarios from og dbz making something diffrent, i gave it 2 cuz they gave some characthers some value in the show other than that its a big ol ZERO for me, also transformations and power lvl is a joke in super no ltrly they didnt bother to make them feel ... unique at all save your time and read the manga if you really wanna know whats happening or watch a summary on youtube its better that way
