Both are adaptions of Shin Megami Tensei games that revolve around demon summoning and an awesome protagonist.

Both series feature Japan being invaded by a group of extraterrestrial creatures and a group of teenagers that are employed to fight them using creatures similar to them by a clandestine government organization that is using the alien invasion to further their own hidden agenda.

"Dude, you're so way dead unless you do something to change it," your cellphone suddenly tells you. "Oh, and don't worry about the whole supporting cast having more interesting personalities than you, the main character. They get no screentime, anyway. BTW, the world is totally ending, so have fun with that!"

In general, both series has a similar background with a supernatural feeling. The characters from both series also gets caught up in various events that changes their lives. Both series' setting also are similar in a metro like city. In fact, both series starts off at a setting involving a train/subway station. Both series has supernatural elements so expect some elements to be not so normal. There is action from what that comes from. Finally, the visuals from Durarara!! and DS2 shares somewhat similar designs in terms of their characters and settings.

Similarities: Both involves creatures from another world to cause chaos in man's world. Both involves a group of individuals who control such other worldly creatures to fight their own kind. Both also has that gov't conspiracy thing going on. Dissimilarities: In one anime a person may have 2 or more other worldly creature in his disposal, while in the other anime.........we're yet to find out. People in control of their other worldly creatures uses cellphones to control them, while in the other anime they have special cards and sometime their pet may question their master's intention.

Believe it or not, Devil Survivor 2 and Digimon Tamers are probably the closest anime in terms of similar themes you'll find. In both of the shows, creatures are appearing out of no where in Japan and causing havoc. In DS2, the ones who take care of these are the summoners, while in DT they are the tamers. In DS2 they use a variation of demons from folklore, stories and the such, while in Digimon Tamer it gets to the point where the enemies are based on folklore and legends as well. In DS2, you can almost consider the demons to be 'digital' as well as  read more

Guilty Crown and Devil Survivor have a similar story and call fantasy - GC Shu pulls emptiness of people and fights against evil and the DS Hibiki draw monsters from the phone and the fight against evil.

If you're looking for another game adaptation from a game that tries to bite of a bigger chunk of deep story than it could convey, you might want to look at either Devil Survivor 2 or Divine Gate. With both shows I've seen the pacing messing up the natural progression the games probably have. Spectacular moments seem mediocre because it's hard to measure how strong the characters have grown in the timespan of the show. Sadly the story suffers too from this, and evolve to a 2deep4u if you're not as invested like a die hard fan. Anyway, if this sounds like something interesting  read more

In both anime there is the master and servant theme.

Both have similar looking main characters who are given enhanced superpowers at a time of crisis and use them to save the world from mass chaos and destruction. They also both work with rebel group that eventually join the government and have very voluptuous girl love interests.

Two terrible adaptations of Megami Tensei games, with all the same elements: devils are summoned from computer data, Cerberus is in a large role, protagonist is a paper thin caricature of the normal high school boy, and nothing good about the source material is carried over in the transition to anime.

When it come these two in comparison , obviously - -Both are adaptions of Shin Megami Tensei games. -Both can fuse the creatures to become stronger. -Both involves creatures from another world to cause chaos in man's world. -Both are supernatural genre and great to watch if you already play both of the games that they adapted.

Every Day/Week or whatever will come a monster/guardian, which threatens a whole city aka. the world. In Blood-C it's just one person and in Devil Survivor is no limit of defenders.
report Recommended by shinomonogatari
Demons/creatures infesting the world obviously! Both anime also have an action streak and most notably summons that correspond to their user personality/ability/profile. The difference is that DS2 has a technological streak while Ao no Exorcist is more of a laid-back comedy.

The characters fight against demons/supernatural in the big city they live in. They have the common goal of helping other people. The main characters voice actor is same!

*C: The Money of soul and possibility control uses Money (Midas money) and Assets to save the world *Devil Survivor 2 uses demons to save the world Boy protagonists meets a guy trying to change and save the world even if it means to sacrifice. Both series are survival

In essence, both series features are comparable to a game in which survival is absolute and lives will be lost if the wrong moves are made. Both series has different ways of presenting the action but have supernatural features. There's also a main cast of characters focused on survival. There's also some mystery regarding the origins of the situation the characters are in. Both series also features some horror and violence dealing with the reality of death.
report Recommended by Stark700
The world that the characters resides is not only competitive but dangerous. In both series, there is action created by a game-like scenario where the characters gets involved in. Winning is a key factor to ensure bragging rights and survival. However, the adversaries the characters faces in both series often brings forth new challenges to test their skills and abilities. In both series, the characters' age range are also similar but more so are their determination to win/survive in the world that they reside in such a game-like scenario.

Both anime are set around a city where demons are attacking innocent people after a strange supernatural phenomenon event. Both anime are set in a dark environment where no one gets out alive and death is always lurking around the corner for our main hero. They are both action-packed anime with a dark atmosphere. If you enjoyed one, you will enjoy the other.

Both of these series are an almost battle royale, where every character tries to survive each day. While Devil Survivor 2 focuses more befriending everyone, Btooom! is a more 'everyone is my enemy' style. > Both anime features an almost apocaliptic -or rather, extreme- scene. > While in DeSu 2 the MC tries to convince the rest of the cast to cooperate and survive, the different interests and the fear of betrayal appears at times. Btooom! also features this, but way less. >DeSu 2 is a more supernatural show, while Btooom! is a bit more 'mature' and realistic.

How has nobody recommended this? Well anyways, both have somewhat similar sounding and looking openings. They both have supernatural elements. Hibiki and Art are both voiced by Hiroshi Kumiya. I found Hamatora more enjoyable in the end, but it still has some similarities, right? .-.

In both anime, everyone must fight to survive. The characters are somewhat similar too.. Naegi and Hibiki, Munakata and Yamato, Ruruka-Izayoi and Airi-Jungo, etc. So, if you enjoyed Danganronpa 3 Mirai-hen, you might like Devil Survivor 2.

Similarities: - Strong protagonist character(s) ( in ZnT Shakespeare's poetry quotes ) - Mankind in danger - Great battle between humans and "The force" ( many 'levels' of battles ) - Magic included ( magical shields, barriers, items, summoning etc. ) - Every choice define your life - Good battle scenes ( colors, lightning, voices, <although I think in ZnT better> ) - Characters developement - Ancient prophecy ( only chosen people know about it ) - Time related things.... *cough* ( like past and future matters )

You'll never think both of these anime has their similarities. Both anime are set in post-catastrophic world. Except Coppelion is set in futuristic world and DeSu2 is set in modern world. Coppelion has weapon fights and DeSu2 has demon fights. Both anime has a pretty good storyline with plot twists. MCs in both anime are nice and forgiving despite the crimes people had done against them. And for some reason, both anime are too underrated.

Both animes involve people teaming up to risk their lives fighting powerful monsters.

In both series, two friends "die" in a subway accident and then are forced to fight aliens.

Apocalyptic series with a 'selected' protagonist (and his friends) who aim to restore balance to the world. The enemy they deal with are intelligent non-human entities. Both strike me as series you should watch if you have watched the other, they have their own style of execution but share a similar atmosphere and narrative. Ars Nova is more fleshed out in terms of strategy though.

-Both live in a world where god has abandoned -Both god is trying to destroy the whole mankind -Both characters in the anime has to fight for survival and destroy god's creatures

-both dark and tragic settings -both main character has a best friend -both anime worlds were completely destroyed when the demons/vampires came -both main character swears that they will destroy all of the demons/vampire that invaded the town -both involve capturing demons and using them for fighting -both really epic, like one will like the other
report Recommended by iNinjeek
Both animes are about people teaming up to fight a limited number overwhelmingly powerful enemies that require a lot of planning, strategy, effort, and risk to take down. Enemies tend to appear one at a time and each have their own "gimmick" that makes them sound almost impossible to kill, such as only being able to kill 3 enemies if you strike them all at the same time so they can't regenerate, or an enemy that's made of air and is impervious to most attacks.
report Recommended by Chdata
In both anime, people fight against gigantic abstract enemies that share the common characteristic of having unique abilities and a final "core" to destroy. In Yuuki Yuuna, they're Vertexes, and in Devil Survivor, they're Septentriones. There are ~9 Septentriones and 12 Vertexes total trying to bring destruction upon the world that must all be defeated.
report Recommended by Chdata
Their both adaptations of the Persona JRPG series, both have a dark feeling to them. If you liked Devil Survivor be sure to give Trinity a try. Trinity has more suspense as well as character development. -Trinity is a sequel to the Persona 3 series, slightly more realistic as well. -Devil Survivor 2, is based off the Devil Survivor series (obviously) which Jackfrost is iconic in. -Trinity's persona's take a spectral form, while in Devil Survivor, they come digitally and take physical form.

Two series, where applications form an important part at the beginning and end of the plot. A phone application gives people a chance to gain power (in MS Ikusei Keikaku is to be a real magic girl and in DevilS2 is to summon demons). This puts at risk our protagonists and humanity because of the gravity of the power they acquired where the ideal is to survive. Despite the doubts of the prota he must use his power to help the needy.

If you like Hataraku Maou-sama!? you might like Devil Survivor 2 The Animation. Just like Hataraku Maou-sama!? Devil Survivor 2 the Animation is also part of the Demons genre. It's also somewhat of comedy in some parts of the plot. Unlike Hataraku Maou-sama!? though, Devil Survivor 2 The Animation focus on Action instead of Comedy and Slice of Life.

Although the stories aren't similar at all, I get the same feeling when I watch either. Also the art styles are really similar I believe. This is only an opinion, you don't have to agree.
