Online retailer Oozlaya announced a fifth and sixth episode for the original video anime (OVA) adapting HERO's Hori-san to Miyamura-kun (Hori and Miyamura) manga on Tuesday.

The fifth and sixth episodes, subtitled Manatsu-bi (Midsummer Day) and Yasashii Hito (A Kind Person), have a duration of approximately 22 and 26 minutes, respectively. Both episodes are planned for a May 2021 release. Pre-orders will be accepted from January 5 through March 25.

Production staff returning from the fourth episode at animation studio Gonzo include director Kazuya Aiura (Assassins Pride) and character designer Fumi Katou (Nakitai Watashi wa Neko wo Kaburu animation director). Scriptwriter Yuniko Ayana (Given) and character designer Kenichi Kutsuna (Hori-san to Miyamura-kun) are also returning from the previous installments. The voice cast members will reprise their roles.

HERO launched the 4-koma romantic comedy manga on her official website Dokkai Ahen in February 2007. Square Enix acquired the manga for official release the following year and published the tenth and final volume in December 2011. HERO subsequently continued the series with side stories and irregularly posts them on her website. Square Enix collects the chapters for physical release through its Gangan Comics Online imprint and shipped the 14th volume on September 18.

Daisuke Hagiwara began serializing a new manga adaptation titled Horimiya in GFantasy monthly magazine in October 2011, retelling the original story in standard manga format with an updated art style. The 15th compiled volume also went on sale on September 18. Yen Press licensed the new manga in English in 2015 and published the 14th volume on July 21. A television anime adaptation by CloverWorks will begin airing on January 10, 2021.

Hoods Entertainment produced the first two OVA episodes in September 2012 and March 2014, respectively. The third episode was animated in March 2015 by independent studio Marone, established by the OVA series' general producer Tarou Yamada. The fourth and latest episode by Gonzo was released in December 2018.

I liked this older one too, I hope someone scanslated all the chapter...

Do you know where I can find the original webcomics scans? Started the OVAs and instantly fell in love with the art style and am interested in what the webcomic looked like/source material.

Maybe it will never really be completed on my list, I tried two times (finished two times), after the first time they released one more episode, after the second time too. Now there's two more.

That's a great news! But turns out it's an alternative version of the upcoming anime, not a prequel to it! ^_^

So is this like an alternative version of the upcoming anime? Also what is the difference, if any at all. Should I start with the OVAs then watch the upcoming anime?

As the post says, the OVA is based on the original webcomics that go by the title Hori-san to Miyamura-kun. The comic was rebooted with new art and serialized as a proper manga called Horimiya after. Both are essentially the same thing just with a different format.

You don't need one to watch the other - it's not a prequel to it - but it's fun to see the different takes.

@Kuma @MegamiRem Yeah, I know, I'm up to date with the OVA series too. That's why I said Horimiya and Hori-san to Miyamura-kun earlier to emphasise on the difference. Also, about the change in Character Design, I meant that it's different to the previous 4 episodes.

But thanks nonetheless, I appreciate the concern!

Well, that's a nice surprise! Hormiya and Hori-san to Miyamura kun in the same season, I totally approve.

Looks like the designs are going to be completely changed, I wonder how it'll go. First impression to be honest is meh.
