I CAN'T WAIT TO MARATHON THIS WHOLE SERIES

So either a prequel story that Izubuchi has alluded to wanting to make (most likely) or a movie to transition into a Yamato 2/Comet Empire remake are my educated guesses for what's next.

Couldn't agree more with you and the story should also be interesting.

I don't understand why very few people know about this series:

2199 is an amazing OVA series.

It clearly doesn't get enough recognition as it should.

I'm looking at you CGI Harlock!

The CG in Harlock isn't bad honestly speaking. It's as good as you can get.

However, we want normal anime 2199 not 3DCG 2199. Clearly, this is going to be an anime project from the look of it.

Still waiting for DVD/Bluray release though. TV version is okay but I'm gonna stick with the OVA release one.

As much as I prefer regular animation, the CG in Harlock does look excellent. Additionally, we've gotten Harlock in almost every decade, so something new is still nice.

One great series. Haven't watched the last episode of 2199 yet. Will definitely keep an eye on the movie updates!
Hopefully it's by the same staff especially Izubuchi and not a CGI movie, I'm looking at you CGI Harlock!

Anime industry throwing me a huge bone here. Pretty awesome news and just really glad they aren't letting the 2199 reboot project end just yet. There's just too little space opera these days and to be honest I was kind of worried that once the series ended that'd be something of a last hurrah for the genre for the foreseeable future. It might still be but at least we get an extension on it for now.

Yamato 2199 is one of those anime on my plan to watch but I haven't found the time for it yet. I did, however, watched the live action 2010 movie and thought that the story still has a lot more to offer. Congratz to fans of this series and maybe I will join you guys watching the movie after finishing Yamato 2199.

Excellent news! I can't wait to hear who is directing. Maybe Rintaro?

Really looking forward to this. My dad always told me that this was his favorite series growing up. Was going to watch the original series, but with the first season re-done and now a movie coming out as well maybe I'll just stick with the newer releases.

Ah cool, something to look forward to after I watch the final episodes. Based Xebec.

This great news, I'm very appreciating the remake of Yamato, I hope will be an addition to complete and does not negatively affect what you did before. I preferred another TV series! * _ *

Thanks for the news! ;)

This is great news, but I hope that they don't take forever to air all the episodes like current Yamato.
