At the end of the rerun of Lupin III: Dead or Alive on Nihon TV on April 29th, a new anime "series" of Lupin III was announced to be aired this autumn. The last TV series aired in the 1980s.

MyCom Journal and Mainichi Digital Newspaper reported the new anime but they didn't say it's a series. It's uncertain whether there will be a TV series or a special one-shot. The previous one-shot Lupin III: The Last Job aired in February 2010.

The aging of the cast has been discussed.
Zenigata: Naya Goro, 81 years old
Jigen: Kobayashi Kiyoshi, 78 years old
Fujiko: Masuyama Eiko, 75 years old
Goemon: Inoue Makio, 70 years old
Lupin III: Kurita Kanichi, 53 years old

2011 is a much better year than any I remember, then again, I've only been watching anime for 3 years, so that probably doesn't mean anything.

I'm still curious as to what the heck Lupin II did with his life though...
If I recall correctly, Lupin III mentions in different episodes/movies/whatever that his father was a thief too, so I guess being light-fingered runs in their family :)

Sucks that it's Walpurgis Night and the world is going to end, would have been intrested in a new Lupin series.

Interesting. Especially the aging of the characters. IIRC Indiana Jones tried the same thing, right?

Can't answer the question but I think you're a bit confused. That's not the characters' ages it's the voice actors/actresses.

They're linked. After all, if the character's voice sounds old you can't expect the character to be a 10 year old right?

their voices will never change lol

but damn 2011 has a lot of good anime already, i think its a bad idea to make a lot of good anime as folks like me cannot keep up and i cannot even give more time to reflect on a particular show because im inclined to watch a new one, so what happens is that old good anime like Madoka and Star Driver will just be a thing of the past for me :(
