My sister's reaction:
Why are you showing me porn?

Also, I cannot vote in the poll because it is, unfortunately, too vague. D:

Edit: Removed because it was impractical.

Good for them. But two questions:
What about those who aren't as pretty as the ones pictured? Are they accepted too?
What about FTM? Is there something similar.

Well, I don't really consider those images to be pornographic. So I'm guessing your sister is either really conservative or really young XD

The poll was left purposefully vague. If you would like to expound your opinion, I would love to read it :)

Yeah, I knew it was coming. X3

But they have female organs (as close as you can get without being born with them). So essentially, having sex with them would be just like having sex with a woman. And they are beautiful :O they were just born as boys.

I will admit, some katoey are more beautiful than others. But some women are more beautiful than others. It also depends on the level of katoey (pre-op, post op, and then the men that just dress like women but are still men, sometimes identifying as gay men). I would say the acceptance level is entirely situational; the actresses, models and beauty queens are revered, but there are also many katoey prostitutes and katoey flamboyant playboys that don't get the same kind of respect (but then again, they are almost not allowing it because of their behavior).

I don't know about FTM. There isn't much info about it :\

Until I read this post I never knew what katoey where, and when I saw the pictures (still didn't see a text) I thought there where girls, beautiful girls yes. Then read the post and saw they where boys changed into girls.
I would say good for them, if they are happy the way they are now, let them be like that.
I won't vote in the poll, seeing I just found out what katoey is, so I can't say if I like or dislike them just like that.

My sister is 17. Pro Choice, socialist, etc.
I can understand the reasoning behind your vague poll, however I'd like a third option where I can vote that I've had no noteworthy experiences with Katoey and thus am neutral.

Plus, is out of my comprehension why "beautiful Thai" models are any different from other models.

they're not any different. yet the interesting thing about is the concept of rising above male and female genders, something unheard of in the western world.

Personally, it does not matter what one has been, what matters is what one is. So it does not make them different from any other model.

Do you know how they remove malignant cancer cysts? Watch a surgery of it... then you tell me if that is natural, or even remotely attractive.

(Yes, having a penis will usually not kill you, but no matter.)

I don't get why you want to impose your definition of genders on everyone else - it is as if you thought "man" and "woman" were real things.

The look of it during the surgery is not really sexy. But after it "heals", it looks exactly like a real woman, if done right by professionals (of Sex Reassignment Surgeries). You wouldn't be able to say the difference!

To answer your question (and poll): Since I am transsexual myself, I wouldn't mind going out with a "katoey" (or transsexual). I will also add: when you trully love someone, you won't stop at the concept of gender, beauty, or such useless thing...

I am not trying to impose it on anyone. I was simple stating my opinion.

I have no problem with sex changes or doing whatever you want to your body. I simply don't consider a male a female after a surgery. And yes a transgender can be very attractive, but after seeing how they got that way, I think that would be the only picture playing in my mind if I was about to have sex with them. But if that is your cup of tea than it is none of my business

I could of course always say the same thing to you though, about trying to impose your idea that "man" and "woman" are not real things, but I won't, because I know that you are not trying to impose your ideas on me, just like I am not trying to force you into thinking my way.

Ah, a simple misunderstanding on my part then. Sorry fer that. What with "a man will always be a man" and al lI thought you were a realist, as in, there's a TRUE definition for man/woman, and other definitions are wrong because they don't reflect reality, which is what I argue against. "There is no gender" is an ontological statement, not a prescriptive language- one.

No, I would be considered a realist on this matter, while I do not base much of anything on gender, I can not see a man as truly a woman after a surgery. But I wont argue against their reasoning for considering themselves a woman at that point.( although I have, hypocrit I am)

Honestly I do not know what it feels like to feel trapped in the wrong body, so to say. So I cant really say much on that.

I grow tired of arguing about this, so I weill leave it at that.

Edit- not that this post was meaning to cause more arguement

Alot of them actually take estrogen and whatever else when they're pretty young, some as young as 8ish. So I think they could actually be classified to be more woman than man at that point. I am completely neutral on this and don't hold anything against this sort of thing. In fact, they are attractive so I voted yes :).

The whole point off them turning themselves to females is because they have the mindset of a girl. They think like a girl, feel like a girl so obviously they want to be a girl. I'm pretty sure that in their mind they are as heterosexual as the girl next door.

Nothing wrong with that ofcourse. And I must say they pull it off really well.

I imagine not, in most cases. Surely, you've heard the phrase "a woman trapped in a man's body" (or vise versa).. Much of it's brain chemistry. I'm not sure about transgenders, but I know there have been studies showing a similarity between the brains of gay men and heterosexual women.

Of course *we* have a mindset of the gender we identify as. I was born a man, but AM a woman. However, I'm not hetero... I'm lesbian. Yes, I'm attracted by woman, and am transitioning from man to woman... The explanation is that we can be attracted by either of the 2 genders as much as "biological" man and woman can be. The gender identity and the sexual orientation have NO link. A "trans" can either be hetero, homo, or even bisexual.

In my case, I'm attracted by woman since I was born, but sometimes, a "trans" can have his/her orientation change after his/her transition. For example, if "he" was attracted by women (hetero) and undergoes a transition to become a woman, "she" will then be attracted by men. Everyone is different...

Don't get me wrong, I do understand what you're saying. It's entirely possible that they can be attracted to (what they consider) as same sex or only to males. But like you sayd, if you are a man in a womans body, you do consider yourself a woman and a lesbian. If we would follow Sick-Bastards logic tho, a man turned woman would be considered heterosexual then (if he still liked woman)? I disagree with that and that was what I ment in my previous post.

You gotta wonder how many boys that age actually know that they'd rather be women. I'll bet some of them are more attracted to the lifestyle or don't understand the severity of getting a sex change.
