| THIS IS AN ANIME ONLY DISCUSSION POST. DO NOT DISCUSS THE MANGA BEYOND THIS EPISODE. ---------------------------------------- They are getting more members for karuta club. One more until getting approved. Megane guy is studying karuta to catch up to them. That "meat bun" competitor against Arata from then is in tennis club. Taichi teaching the two new members, and megane guy is especially trying hard. "Meat bun" guy said bad thing about karuta because he has grudge on Arata, so he was forced to fight against Chihaya. He found the fun in karuta once again and is strong. After that, he told the advisor, the old woman teacher, that he's quitting tennis club and joining karuta cub. |

| Another member joins the club, it's getting better. Although those Karata cards do seem to be extremely resilient. 5/5 |

| It's still walking down the generic road, which makes me sad since the childhood arc was wonderful. In all honesty, this episode was quite silly. Definitely needs more Arata. |

| Oh there was a lot of Arata in flashbacks and it should become only way he is appearing there there are some new people - who have personalities and different view on that game than he I would like to see Desk-kun playing the game :) and MAYBE Arata is dead which still would be best case scenario - he got better after visit of his friends, than started to read cards but suddenly it remembered his feelings and decided to pass to Heaven of Karuta Cards - he would be happy and many of viewers also (plus Taichi also) |

I suppose it's easy to get them confused though. Looking forward to seeing the new recruits (other than Nishida of course) improving over time. |

| Now when you said it I kind of missing the sweet moment in Honey & Clover and fun time in Nodame Cantabile. I actually watch both anime and live action drama, it was quite good . :D MissileSoup said: Another excellent introductory episode. | Intense match they had there. Chihaya is sure obsessed with Karuta. I'm wondering if the creators are going to make that obsession into a reason that she might hurt others (thinking mostly of Mashima here). |

| I also realised that Chihaya is showing more and more of her selfish side. If she force Desk-kun to join, i can take it that she's showing him another side to life. But to force Porky to join by pouncing on him, that's too much. Hope they would show something bad happening due to her selfishness, to keep her character in check. |

| Pretty good episode. The music is soothing as usual. Is it me or just the song that played before they started playing sounded like Mushishi? Anyway, now they're complete. I hope we're going to get much more competitive karuta and of course some Arata. (He owned Nijita-kun so badly.) lol |

| Decent episode. Bit disappointed with Chihaya, though. Continually calling someone a nickname they don't like is pretty mean. Her methods for getting people to join is pretty extreme as well. In the end she did leave it up to Nishida, though, which was good. Nice that they tried to add some strategy into how karuta is played but not really sure it helped much. In the end it still seems like whoever can fling the card the fastest wins. Makes the game, as a spectator at least, dreadfully boring. We only see a fraction of the actual game, can't even imagine how long and boring the whole thing would be. |
| I don't see selfishness in Chihaya as much as her determination, which is shown in both the way she recruits and the way she plays Karuta. When you make a club, you want people to join. That's how clubs get started. I don't see how people think she's forcing this on the members. The point was that all the members wanted to join, but had a reason they didn't. All Chihaya did was get them to observe their activities, typical recruiting method if you ask me. My only concern with this anime is if they spend 3 episodes on this trio, but only focus on the 3 main characters for the rest of the series. If that happens, these three episodes would be excessive. |
| I get the feeling that Chihaya just didn't really register that he didn't like the nickname. She is a tad bit of airhead, after all, and pretty focused on karuta and everything related to it. |
| Nikkuman-kun ~ LOL Chihaya is so cute. XD Her face can be so funny sometimes, like when she was about to jump Nishida. I kinda envy their school store, soooo fancy with all the buns and trays and such - totally cannot find that in schools here! And the music... so nice. =w= |
| Psh, Nishida didn't even have a twist serve, Tezuka zone, triple counter or any super awesome move so it was useless to play the sport anyways. |
