THIS IS AN ANIME ONLY DISCUSSION POST. DO NOT DISCUSS THE MANGA BEYOND THIS EPISODE.
----------------------------------------

The first thing you'll notice about this anime is the art-style/animation. It definitely ranks up there in uniqueness as Gankutsuou. The story is also very interesting although I've never seen Ayakashi before however I've heard that seeing it before hand isn't necessary. Moreover, I like the overall mysterious vibe that the show is presenting thus far and I'm looking forward to the next episode to see how "Child of the Tatami Room" ends. |

A very unique art/animation style, i was a bit put off at first, but i got used to it. Overall the first episode was awesome. 9/10. I sure hope it stays as awesome as that was. So awesome. XD |

The animation is very unique, and it took me quite a while to get used to (print overload much?). Like Zanmato 666 said, it kind of reminds me of Gankutsuou: Count of Monte Cristo. The stylized animation gives off a storybook vibe, which adds to the atmosphere. The bacground music was minimal and heightens the tension / mystery. Overall, this was a great episode. I'm looking forward to the next one! :) |

Ummm... this looks interesting, but the genre "horror" always worries me... just how scary is this supposed to get (I'm a wuss...) I really enjoyed Ghost Hunt... and I noticed there was a recommendation for this from that... anyone?? As long as it doesn't get any scarier than Ghost Hunt (and the last 2 arcs of that one creeped me out a bit), I can watch... ^_^ |

Just watched... yeah... the animation style kinda threw me off... kinda made it hard for me to watch because of it... but the story was decent enough. I'll keep watching... see if I'll get used to the art style. |

I love the art... everything except for the characters. The medicine seller looks cool, though. Animation is pretty unique to me. I like it. Interesting show. |

Well now, if this isn't an unusual animation style from Japan. No moe, none of the other usual stuff. Also, I'm only liking the character design of the medicine seller so far as well. ![]() Old avatar and sig retired for now. |

Unfortunately I must dissent. Though the art is unique, it also put me off. I felt like I was delving through a storybook for kids. The Medicine Seller talked extremely slowly, his sentences were all disjointed too -_- ![]() |

Wow, I'm loving the first episode. Animation was unusual and grabbed my attention. At first I was put off, it seems that the only pretty person in this series is going to be the Midicine Seller. Which is fine and all. He's damn beautiful to look at. 5/5 |

Well, I must admit I was a bit put off by the character design at first (before I even put it on my plan-to-watch; that doesn't include Kusuriuri, who looks rather different from all the other characters so far, and in a good way), but now that I watched the first episode...I can get used to it. The colours are beautiful, that's a big plus o.o So vibrant. Also, voices and voice-acting being very important for me, I paid extra attention to Sakurai (...who never let me down xP) and I have to say that, DAMN. His voice fits so well. And I don't know why, but I liked how his lines were somewhat disjointed, the exact same thing that Puedjies found annoying. It just...matches the character. Story is interesting, and it even managed to creep me out a little at one moment. So far, so good. Definitely will keep watching. - If you believe this place holds you, it is a prison. I'm already used to the art due to having watched Ayakashi. I just hope the stories of this anime have the same quality as the Bakeneko arc in Ayakashi. Kusuriuri is an awesome character and Sakurai Takahiro has a very fitting voice, not to mention he's a great seiyuu.. ![]() |

Hmm... Highly rated show, so I'll stick with it for the time being merely out of curiosity as to why it's so highly regarded. I did find it kind of strange though, and even though I got used to the art style, I wasn't really a fan... of the art, nor what seemed to be the story... We'll see. Maybe I've lost my taste in anime if this is so widely loved? Haha, guess I'll see... |
