Hey, my name's Dominika and I'm from Poland. Usually I'm pretty normal. That is, until my inner fangirl resurfaces.
I'm here because of certain people from my Neopets guild (crap, more than 3 years with you guys o.o That's actually sweet.) and their addiction to anime&manga. I blame you. That's right, it IS contagious.
Usually I find manga better than its anime adaptation.
I'm incredibly lazy and NOT proud of it. xP I'm also a smilies abuser...though I always try to edit my posts and get rid of all the unnecessary ones.
My native language is not English and grammar is my weak point (oh sweet Lord, the tenses.) So I'd like to ask you to bear with me for the time being, until I learn to speak 100% properly :)

Vast amounts of men, yep. Sorry, most of the women's characters in m&a are just not that kickass. (Orihime, lol >.>) In no particular order, although first 6 or so and of course the ones on the left are my absolute favourites (the order of the icons is mostly chronological).
Please NOTE that this is not a 'omg my fav bishies' list. If I made that one, it'd be ten times as long. Also, lame. These are characters that have something that makes me smile like an idiot when they appear, and it's not necessarily their appearance. I'm not hot for armours, for instance (yes that's you, Al). Or trannies (though I still love you, Ranka). Or guys picking their noses (Gintoki, STOP THAT NOW.) Or girls, for that matter o.O
Those icons are not mine, credits below them. All those are LJ usernames. Ohwait, I made the Keima one myself (I couldn't find any Keima icons, what a shame D:), using gimp and a few hundred guides. In the beginning of the anime, I think it was about when Gauche picked up Lag, maybe in ep 2 or something, he said that his sister and Lag were the same age.

It's pretty creepy how your use of the word 'creepy' suddenly makes something sound creepier than it did before xD
Also, Sylvette sounded (and looked) like she was a few years older than Lag, don't you think? I mean.. they're clearly not the same age, even if they're supposed to be O.o

Well, I wouldn't say it's something for everyone. It can't be denied that it's rather slow paced, and it isn't full of flashy action (save some sudden gory close combat). The scifi setting also certainly isn't the best out there, and suffers from the same faults of underdeveloped technology and anachronism that most other scifi's suffer from. The strategy and tactics also play a large role in the series, but again, they woud be more at home in 16th century line infantry battles than in space.
But it is a space opera after all, so not being a hard scifi doesn't really count as a failure.
The main focus is the story and the characters, and that's where the series' strong points lie. It has a huge cast of varied and interesting characters, each with more or less their own stories and development, and the story itself is really well written in regard to it's twists and deeper historical and philosophical musings as well as having some splendidly humorous conversations. It definitely has the best characters and story I've seen in anime yet, and the second spot is still far below this level.
So unless you want a heavily character and story driven behemoth of a series, you probably shouldn't bother. at least not too much. Though I must confess I too didn't find it too interesting at first, and initially discarded it after a couple of episodes before I opted to pick it up again after reading so many reviews praising it.
It will likely become more interesting once you get to know the characters a bit, so I'd suggest you try some ten episodes or whatnot before passing final judgment.

Well, I watch pretty much all topics that I've even posted in, although with some regulation.. xD For example, for a random anime series (as in doesn't matter which one), I put episodes 1-4 on Watch, then when ep 5 comes out and I put that one on watch, I remove 2-4 (1 staying on Watching until the anime is finished)...
So about 5 episodes of the anime at all times, whereas the last episode thread is forever stored as Watching xD
I pretty much get all my mail from MAL, luckily, I don't get much from other places : D
