| Yay Funi! I'm glad they picked this up :) Anywayz, this episode started off with a very slow start. I never read the manga so I dunno if it'll stay like this or not. I guess I'll stick around to wait & see. So far, I found the premise/characters pretty decent. But for one, I definitely dig the art style & music. Kudos to Manglobe. |
| That was... interesting. If anything, I really enjoyed the backgrounds, though I can't say much for character design or animation. The ED doesn't really fit IMO. It'll probably end up being 12 episodes of slow paced, seinen humor, though I guess only those who have read the manga would have a good idea of that. |
| Hey! FUNimation comes through Anyway, that was...odd. Not bad at all, it was very good, just...odd. It's a very quiet show which will instantly turn off a few people as well as the animation being pretty out there. I mean, usually, this is the kind of animation you'd see in a movie or an OVA or something, not really for a whole series. Whenever they close up on their faces, they look like frogs. I don't mind any of these things so far As for the show itself, it wasn't bad. I didn't understand what was going on at first but I gradually figured it out. I wasn't expecting any real sword action though so even though it was for a few minutes, having some was pretty sweet. The twist that Ichi was the bad guy (though, actually the good guy?) was cool. These guys sound kind of like Edo Robin Hood. I don't like the OP video. It's kind of boring. The song is nice though. The ED rocks. Oh and uh, "-de gozaru." |

| I'm surprised at how fast Funi subbed this and that the subs aren't complete shit. However this is probably a fluke and they'll take their time on the next episodes and we'll have fansubs out that of equal or better quality before them like usual. |

| Beautiful episode, Manglobe you have done it again. This may very well be the best anime of the season for us Seinen lovers, but Rainbow Nisha is also looking quite good as well. This is quickly shaping up to be a good year for anime. It's unfortunate that the ED was very plain and out of place and it kind of broke me out of the wonderful "Five Leaves" trance I was in, but no big deal. |

| The music was the first thing I noticed as well, the opening just seemed to be much lighter tone than I had envisioned the series would be. The end also snapped me out of what was going on, but I did like the little rotation animation going on. That said, I thought it was a terrific first episode, the characters were all interesting and I really enjoyed watching the interaction between the two seemingly polar opposites. I'm excited that I've already come to like both main characters when the show has barely gotten off of the ground. I also agree with the style (both the art and the tone) probably turning some people off right away, but thankfully this is right up my alley, I just couldn't stop smirking for most of the episode. |

| I too was a little shocked to see FUNimation pick this series up. It doesn't seem like their normal type of show to pick up but of course they do seem to have really good relations with Manglobe since Geneon's demise. The subs were good and the encode was also good so I was pleased. I really enjoyed the opening song, but like others have stated the ending seemed out of place. So far though the story feels very familiar, almost Kuroswa-esk. Yojimbo comes to mind for some reason. I'm probably seriously flattering this anime too much right now but it was enjoyable. However, is it just the character designs or does the girl in the purple kemono kinda look like a transvestite? Other than that the character designs where a bit eerie with the charcoal eyes and sharp black outlining, but I liked it. Only twelve episodes plus I already like the feel of this first episode, I'm in... |

| It was pretty good and I'm surprised funimation subbed it. Only thing that made me upset was the stupid ads. six ads total and each one was a staples ad with a man yelling "WOW THATS A LOW PRICE!!!" lol. The quality wasn't that bad either. I think I might watch funi's sub..."can't believe I actually said that" Never thought the day would come. |

| Manglobe and samurais. Should be interesting although this first episode doesn't show much. The character design sure is special and it's quite refreshing compared to anime standards these days. I'll definitely watch the second episode at least to see if there's anything more to this. |

| I've waited for this and I'm not disappointed at all instead quite pleased with the first episode. I love the opening, the ending and I also find the ost catchy. Not to speak of the character desing which is the most favourite of mine. Definitely one of the most promising series of the season by manglobe. :D |

| Backgrounds are lovely, character design not so much, but I'll get used to it. I am enjoying hearing Sakurai in it so much. xD I can't believe I'm such a sucker for voices. Well, it was actually pretty good. The ED was funny xD I liked it. |

| Love it when an anticipated show fills your expectations. Feels good man. An interesting start. The atmosphere of the show is quite laid back and relaxed. This plus the character designs and the fluid pacing resulted on a satisfying episode to me. Manglobe at their best. 4/5 And the next episode name is "Make love to me". <33 If Yojouhan delivers too, this season is going to be great. |

| Hmm... well, this was disappointing. Not very disappointing, of course, only disappointing because I had fairly high hopes. I was just hoping for something a little more... quirky, I guess. And outside of the art style, it didn't really deliver. Still, the interactions between the characters are quite interesting, as are the characters themselves. The protagonist seems to be a very interesting one, i'll say that much... Also, does Yaichi remind anyone of Urahara? |

No, they say they're gonna continue the one-hour after JP simulcast. Go FUNi!!! Comin thru for us again, and Tatami starts next week, if they keep this up, and Crunchy Roll doesn't live up to there "50%" boast, I'll have to cancel my CR membership. The first ep was nice. A little too slow at first, but the pace got better about half way through. The Character designs are kind of weird but unique in a good way. And, sorry but I don't think it looks like Ristorante Paradiso, those designs were hideous, these are cool. Idk, maybe it just fits the show better. I like the whole Robin Ronin Hood feel, I think this will be pretty good. I'll make my decision on watching after another ep or two. Urahara Out!! |

| "Nyaaaa..." - the cat was definitely the best character of the show!!! ^^ And this is really sad to find out this fantastic show got such low ratings. Everything was so great about this anime. I can feel a very promising story already. And we already have a well-done character design and interaction, a relaxing pace, a sweet OST on the background, brilliant art, and, what's so important, a decent direction. I was really very pleased with the first episode and will now be looking forward to the next one. |
| Incredible how Mochizuki's one of the very few directors whom style you can recognize in less than 30 seconds despite the change of style, character design and setting. The episode was a pure Mochizuki work, extremely slow-paced, evasive and soft, but with a real science of details, good characterization and a great emphasis on the atmosphere of the show. On top of that, Manglobe's production value and technical merit is rather high in this introductive episode so it's a definite recommendation from me, even if I know where it's heading and how flawed - but consistent and enjoyable - it will be in the end (I must have watched at least 10 series from Mochizuki now, letting out his video works such as Ocean Waves, the first part of Twilight Q etc...). |
