Wow,

I only know bands and artists releasing Japan-only tracks but not actual songs that have japanese in them.

Thanks OP, you made me remember that god-awful weeaboo rap that was posted a week or so ago.

EDIT: Also, I just viewed the video, and what the fuck. I don't know anything about the Jonas Brothers except that people talk about them too much online, but that was utter shit. Actually worse than that one rap.

When I think no one's around... I blast "Hatena de Wasshoi" and sing it as loud as I can... mostly because it's the only Japanese song I know by heart.

Lots of non-Japanese artists sing in Japanese.

For example,

Nat King Cole:

One of the most popular, award-winning new acts in Japan this past year was Jero, an African-American guy who sings Enka. You don't see this every day.

Sixpence none the Richer:

Younha (she is Korean):

And more, like BoA, etc.

Really? I thought it was absolutely awful, especially for "professional" singers. Shouldn't they be good with pronunciation? Such as something simple like getting vowel sounds right?

"this is awesome for the people is japan. if people in japan love JB, they cannot listen to their cd cuz they cant understand english"

There are so many things I could say to that...

I don't listen to a lot of japanese music, but I will say that musicians should sing in their native tongue unless they're really good at singing other languages.

Also, I had no idea who the Jonas Brothers were until a few months ago, and haven't heard their music until reading this thread. I'm glad I don't watch TV or listen to the radio, because it's exactly what I thought it would be: generic pop trash manufactured by the giant Disney marketing machine to brainwash impressionable children into becoming retarded little shits. Pass.

...not that I'm a fan of the Jonas Brothers or anything (boy did that song make me laugh) but I never hear anyone complaining when Japanese/other Asian people sing English lyrics in their songs.

And don't tell me they don't butcher the language because, oh my gosh, yes they do. It doesn't matter how wonderful their voice sounds. The Engrish can be amazing to hear.

I kind of think the Jonas Brothers are genius now. Because think about it. A majority of their fans are of the weeaboo variety; and I'm sure most of them just about wet their pants with joy when they heard that. So while that song sucked balls on many levels, I did have to look at the comments, chuckle and think, "Good show boys, good show."

Phil Collins actually sung a Japanese version of the song "No Way Out" for the Japanese dub of Brother Bear and quite well I might add... Even though he had an accent when it came to certain words. :D

alls i know is th elyrics are mad crappy, japanese or english....
--- never ever heard a jonas brothers song b4 this (for me, thank god) and well lyrics themseles are just enough to annoy me.

love the sixpence songggggggggg. japanese prnoucnation doesn't sound bad... well nothing does compared to avril lavigne's... (the ja-nai is so cringy) gawd i hate that song

but yeah there's monkey majik
tada arigatou (his voice sonds white right but there isn't that annoying "american" accent)
except well they are artists in japan (so that makes them not count as far as this threadstarters's post) and the white people are fluent in Japanese.

Avril Lavigne released her song "Girlfriend" in different languages, but it's really just the chorus.

Either way it's horrible but so funny. I think I overkilled my Japanese friend with it.

Enjoy!

Yeah, there's a lot of Koreans singing Japanese. So... I don't find anything surprising with "non-Japanese singing Japanese", and they are even #1 on the weekly Oricon charts in Japan. ._.

Koreans also sing in Chinese as well, and probably English, often, as well. Iuno, I like their attitude of forgive and forget, I suppose.

Don't sing in another language if you don't actually speak the language.

There is an indie label around here that only works with Japanese influenced artists (without covers). It's pretty interesting. Did not watch the suggested video because youtube hates me, but I think that as far as you know the language you have the right to sing, write or whatever in it.

I recorded an english version of Bokutachi no Yukue by Takahashi Hitomi and I sang the last chorus in Japanese. Feels awkward to listen to it now and I always skip that part. :P

Well, that would apply the same to the Japanese then, they try to input English words, or even phrases, into some of their songs, and it ended up sounding not English, nor Japanese (the "Engrish"), but I wonder if even the Japanese who listened to those songs can identify the English words...
